For 2 of the medallions .... don't think we will put them on the lanyards -- but maybe use them as a keychain ... or after the cruise put them on the lanyard :goodvibes

OT- Ryleigh has a sister!

Hi all!
Just wanted to let you know that the arrival of our newest family member happened on Feb. 1st
Madigan Mikayla Theresa Latin-Fenech arrived like a rocket at 4:13pm after 3 hours of labour at St. Mike's Hospital in Toronto. They say she weighed 7lbs but I have questioned that since I laid eyes on her... she is very tiny! But she was 21 inches in length and a very content baby!
Ryleigh was very unsure of her at first especially when she cried. She was very freaked out by the little person in the car seat next to her, but seems fasinated now!

We are tired but all settling into a routine nicely. Hopefully looking forward to our 1st Disney trip with baby in Nov. 2005 or sometime in 2006! Still Travelling with a disabled child is challenging but now we have to add an infant too???? Yep! Can't wait! Bring on the magic!!!! Wish we were still able to do the Repo cruise with y'all! We will actually be returning from our England/ Ireland trip the day you sent out... so you'll be in our thoughts!!!
Thanks for all the support and encouragement you sent us when things looked rough! Much appreciated!
Hugs
Suzanne

I know many people have talked about Acapulco and the thread on Cruise Critic is great (It was posted here by someone earlier but thought I'd put it up again in case you missed it.)

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=103695&page=1&pp=25

We are really looking at the Shotover Jet Boat excursion. It looks like alot of fun. It can be booked on your own as well.

To get time frames, It takes you about 40 minutes to get to Shotover, and 40 minutes back, you can ask if they can pick you up at the pier or take you from their office and drop you off back in to town. Any time is good to get wet, although I should warn you that the lagoon smells like sewer water, according to the driver it's due to a chemical reaction from salt water of the ocean, the fresh water from the lagoon and the mangroves that give it this particular smell; just don't have breakfast, it worked well for me. At the end they will take many pic's where you can buy them all for $15 USD on a CD

There are also interesting warnings on the areas to walk in in Acapulco.

In referring to the market and walking to the divers this was the comments.

Both, daylight crime and getting lost; these places are located in rough neigborhoods with many narrow alleys that lead to dead end streets after walking over a little less than a mile (I went to one a year ago and was surprised of who it feels like a termite nest, very narrow streets and alleys where its only for pedestrian traffic); I have heard from passengers that have gotten their purse, camera or gold items snatched while walking to these areas.

Although the municipal police patrol these areas on a regualr basis when ships arrive, I would recommend to pay a few $$ to get there and back and avoid any risks or just get exhausted from the heat, humidity and car fumes. (average temp is 94°F and 70% humidity)

The municipal market is a bit dangerous, for wondering on your own; if you don't know how to move around; but if you go with a guide, it would be much easier, the market is divided in many sections, such as meat, fruits & vegetables, flowers, etc.

Remember to use your common sense; do not where flashy jewlery, carry just what you plan on spending, usually no more than a $100, 1 credit card, an ID, ships pass and the port agent's telephone number (found on the daily activities patter); this would be the best way to get help if you get lost or need emergency assistance.

The guy giving the information on the thread is the Port Operations Manager where the cruise ships dock. Fascinating reading and great info on what to see etc. If you want to use a hotel for their facilities some interesting info..
I would recommend the Mayan Palace.

The Princess hotel charges approximately $25 UDS per person for day use privilages(not sure, I'll check tomorrow) the Mayan Palace is a time share resort and they will pester you into sitting through a "presentation" that will eat up at least 2 hours of your day, and this way you can use the facilities for free: I know for a fact they do not allow day uses outside of ship arranged full day thing, haven't seen many people go on their own, because it's 30 minutes away and a cab will charge you $25 each way for either resort.

If you want to spend some time at a pool and the sea, try the Hyatt only 15 minutes away and you can use their facilities if you have lunch or drinks.

If you look he goes into the fact that even if you go to the 9:30 pm cliff divers they "may" not have the torches. The 10:30 pm seems to be the only guaranteed torch diving.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Forgive me if these items have already been discussed or planned or whatever, but I'm a little behind on catching up to some of these threads. Two things:

I noticed on the May Repo cruise that they are arranging to have the ship's photographer take a group picture [Hygiene99 = Group photo will arrange for Disney Photographer on a Sea day. Probably in Atrium Area.] Has anything like this been discussed for our group?

Also, I know we are having a group DisMeet on Sunday, but has anyone looked into a group lunch at maybe Parrot Cay or Palo's or even Lumiere's? That would be fun to just take over a restaurant!

Just some thoughts racing through my poor "anxious, ready to pack, want to go NOW" mind. :confused3

Ohhhhh, DIS meet lunch on a sea day would be great. I vote for waiting to see the Navigators from the western to see what is going on each day and then pick one. I think Parrot Cay would be great, the whole atmosphere there is fun and relaxing.

I believe Mark is checking on a group picture, but I could be wrong.

My in-laws went to Acapulco as a last ditch effort to save their marraige. They went to the resort that has the pink jeeps. It looked like a nice place, but it must not have been too romantic, as they seprated and divorced shortly after the return! But MIL said she didn't like the city and was glad that they stayed on the property the whole time. This was in 1972 or so. Anyway, it is good to have that kind of info.

I do know where Shotover got the name, from the Shotover River in New Zealand. They invented the speedboats for that river, and now the Shotover Jet Boats are popular anywhere there is shallow water and thrill seekers.

Don't know if I will be leaving the ship much!

I don't know about doing a group lunch at Palo, because we had a problem doing it two years ago. We had several people that were getting ressies for a group of about 10 and wound up having the Palo manager make us go into two groups because they said we couldn't take over the entire restaurant.
