August 2, 2011 disney dream

Melissa shame i missed the opportunity to meet while you were working here. Unfortunatelly alena does not speak english yet. She is a very outgoing girl she loves travelling in the USA but when we are surrounded by english speaking people she turns into a shy girl just because she can not communicate. My husband and me both speak english in our job but wanted alena to wait to learn english in school in 2nd grade. Speaking a language is one thing but teaching it to your child is an entirelly different story.

We will see how it works. Kidds can be very crative in their communication. I am so excited to meet you soon and your girls

Andrea,

I have no other Europe plans this year. Asia Pacific is next on our list of things to do.

Mackenzie is looking forward to meeting Alena. She has a lot of fun doing Fish Extenders for girls her age. She points out what is cool and not! They're around the same age. We also have Emily (9) and Paige (9) from DIS. I hope to get to the DIS meet on board (we are at the mercy of Disney bus from BCV) and we'll definately be at the Boardwalk meet the night before we sail. Last cruise, Mackenzie did not dress up and she did regret it. I did buy her a pirate Minnie ears. Taylor (now 18) surprised me and bought the Goofy pirate ears hat. It was ADORABLE on her. She's already got it out to wear it again. I'm happy to say she is still a Disney Kid at heart (just like Mom).

I'm so excited, I'm almost vibrating with joy.

I am working on making my FE today, does anyone have any pics of their FE they want to share??? (LOVE yours JMTStone!)

Um . . . is it OK if the FE gifts are not handmade?
I am so bad at anything crafty.

OK, so in LESS THAN 3 WEEKS we will all be on the CRUISE!!!!

DD Jennifer is studying hard for the on-line course she is taking at the University. She is taking "Western Civilization". Just last night I was quzzing her over the "dictators" - Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Franco, and Lenin.
She is taking her final tomorrow - please wish her well!

Then we are going to catch a showing of the last Harry Potter movie coming out on Friday. We are probably going to wait at least a day or two, to avoid the hard-core crowds. We are all HUGE HP fans, though. We've read all the books, seen and own all the movies, and went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios last year - it was a BLAST, and the butterbeer is delicious!!

I took next week off from work to shop and pack. We are going to have to get all our shopping done Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday through Sunday we are going to a Chinese Family Camp that I have attended off and on with my family since 1971! It is in Nappannee, IN, about 2 1/2 hours east of Chicago.

Then right after that, the week before the cruise, DH Eric DD Jennifer and DS Mark will be at the Royal School of Church Music summer program in St. Louis, MO. They have all been long time choristers at our church, and go to this "choir camp" every year for at least 10 years. Luckly, I don't sing and I will be home - working and doing last minute shopping and packing!!!

The day after that ends is August 1 and we fly to Orlando!

We are literally going to be busy for 3 solid weeks in a row, from Chinese Family Camp to Royal School to the Cruise!!

Can't wait to see you all!!

Nancy - thanks for all the hard work on the name tags!

Jeanne - great pics! I love the outfits. I'll see if I have a picture of our FE's. If not I will try to take one tonight and post it.

Deb - sounds like you have a busy three weeks like we do. I was just telling Alyssa that I wanted to see if we could maybe meet up before the cruise but then I was looking at the calendar trying to see where we might fit it in. Now with your schedule just as busy I don't think it's going to happen. I guess they will just have to meet on the ship.

Good luck to Jennifer on her final!!

Deb - Fish Extenders and their gifts do NOT have to be fancy/crafty.

I did a Pirate-Party Booty bagpirate: Everyone's gifts inside the bags are geared to the people. Micah is the only little boy so his bag is REAL HEAVY. The hardest to buy for were the men in our lives. Phil was difficult, being the only single adult man on our list. I tried to imagine what my husband would enjoy but that's hard because I don't think he's too normal (I call him Tigger). I didn't spend too much, don't fret.

If you want to PM me, I can give you the details (I want to surprise people with their gifts).

My gifts might be crafty but they aren't fancy. And the store-bought portion may have to get tossed out if my bags are too heavy :rotfl: I am doing one gift for each stateroom but hopefully will be fun for everyone...or most....or someone... :confused3:laughing:

Good luck on the test Jennifer!!

I am not pleased with my FE and I'm going to go work on some revisions. :headache::sad2:

Jeanne - I'm worried about you. Don't stess! By the looks of those beautiful dresses, your FE is already perfect. I bought mine online. And I *wish* I was crafty enough to have made my gifts. I am forever jealous of people like you who can whip up some beautiful item. My sister got the gene from my Mom. It passed over me. I'm better at shopping/gathering!

I have a photo of mine in my DIS photo site. Search under my JMTStone and you'll find it.

Don't stress over Phillip, he is easy to please...
I made an attempt at making our own FE, but it did not turn out well:mad: So, Tiffany Harwood to the rescue! :worship:

Most of our FE gifts have been a creative effort on my part, they are not fancy, I'm DYING to show them off, but you'll have to wait a couple more weeks!!

Well, Melissa and Rob beat me to it. Our FE looks a lot like theirs - Tiffany did ours too! She is the best.:worship:

Jeanne - I wouldn't sweat it too much. On our Christmas cruise some people just bought giant stockings and that's what they used as a FE.

 just realized that all "dictators" were my neighbors..... the birthplace of evil is in Europe....., well, we have to show how nice and civilized Europeans today can be. At least Switzerland did not bring up such an evil guy, ufff.

We will bring lots of sweet chocolate to show that we are "friends". :grouphug: See you soon

ich freu mich so Eu bald alli zgseh (means so much looking forward to seeing you all soon)

Good morning everyone. Sounds like everyone is busy busy. 13 days and we will be at our happy place with our great friends. My ds14 is getting nervous as he vents and picks on his brother when he gets nervous. I guess I am in a mood as well at least that is what my dw tells me :confused3. I do the same thing as ds14 when I am stressed I am crabby. My poor dw just worked 5 shifts in a row at the hospital she gets up at 4 and she is lucky if she is home by 9pm. Spending a few days in ocean city then she will work Friday-tues again. See why I am stressed guess who has to do the packing. :scared1: I am sure I will forget something. Oh well we forget something every year. Not trying to stir anything up and there is a complete thread for this but has anyone read the controversy with the cups and what Disney is trying with the chips. I guess some one from Disney was reading April fools blog on dis boards about the cups and though they would try it out.

Ok heading out for a bike ride on the boards will be back later. Whew some stress already relieved as my addiction to dis boards is taken care of this. Morning. :worship:

1. Where have you been? I started to get worried about you!
2. I feel bad for wife. Soon she will be adrift headed to Castaway Cay....
3. I don't know what cups/chips are:confused3

I was beginning to worry about you too Scott. I feel for your DW but at least she will be in Disney in 13 days.

Melissa - he is talking about the resort refillable mugs. Apparently Disney is fed up with people abusing them(bringing back old mugs, using mugs from other resorts, etc) so they are starting a new program where the mug will have some kind of chip in it that will be good only for a certain amount of time and various other things to help stop the abuse. There is a whole thread on the theme parks board about this topic.

The other funny thread(at least to me) over there is the one about the reduced hours of the monorail. People were getting so ridiculous I finally had to stop reading it.

LOL I get too picky when I sew sometimes. It is done and it is fine but I'm glad it's just for this one cruise and next time with the whole family I'll know how to make it better.

Thanks for the picture Melissa!

Very cool! I'm dying to show mine off too but uh...I have them all halfway done and none complete :lmao:

Love the stockings at Christmas! I only get picky when I sew. You should see my house! :rolleyes1

Swiss chocolate???? :cloud9:

I wish I just got crabby when I'm stressed. I'm a stress eater! :headache: I get crabby when I'm hungry....hmmm...no wonder I'm overweight :lmao:

I think the whole chips in cups thing is kinda creepy. Of course I don't go to WDW often enough to even attempt reusing a mug. I heard something about having to wait between refills though? If I'm eating at my resort I like to fill up the mug and refill it again before I leave. On my last trip I was with a bunch of friends and walking back from the bus to our rooms one night I joked that I needed to run in and get a quick mug refill because I was trying to drink $14 worth of soda in 4 days and I think everyone within earshot started laughing. I want one of the new mugs (and will use it on the ship) and will only be staying one night at a resort this trip so I'm pretty sure I won't get my $ worth and never have! So I sort of resent the Big Brother feeling. But not enough to get involved in one of those intense disboard discussions! :rotfl2:

Ugh wind around 14-20mph on the beach so off the beach. Not liking getting sandblasted. Now everyone is I a great mood!:rolleyes1

Thing that bugs me about cups is we usually go 2 times a year and Disney probably makes close to full profit on soda as coke's deal is the product is close to free. We don't bring past year cups but should be able to use them for a year.

Sorry have not been on. Busy like everyone else. Trying to get things set up for trip and the day after we get back I have to teach class then sports start sat and my summer is over. I know I know summer off but I get to school around 7 and 4-5 nights a week don't leave until 9pm. Friday nights are at least 10-10:30 so my summer time is my recovery time:)

Ok off to shop yuk

The other funny thread(at least to me) over there is the one about the reduced hours of the monorail. People were getting so ridiculous I finally had to stop reading it.

...the one threat I am reading a lot is about "Port Arrival Time", gosh, why did Disney have to implement and enforce this exactely on our cruise date. I am in general following the rules, typically Swiss, very accurate and in time. We have a port arrival time for 11am and think that we will be there about that time, but when reading that thread I really get worried:confused3, my husband tends to be claustrophobic, my girl's patience is not at its best and then I have to cope not only with lots of passengers but also with my two beloved once .

I agree with all quotes that we would feel much better if we knew that everyone is following the rules, but how can they, when they do not even know of this enforced rules. But on the other hand, why should first time cruisers who are not reading the DISboard even think to arrive earlier.

We will see, we will be the guinea pigs and after this cruise a lot will be much clearer. So lets do our best, my best friend gave me the advise to just bring a bottle of great italian grappa and I will be in a very good mood for sure. My DH Urs would prefer a fine old single malt. :dance3:

I am claustrophobic and those terminal photos made me nervous! But I'm going into this whole vacation with a very laid back attitude and will get on board when I get on board, but it would be different if I had my 4 kids along getting bored and anxious!!!

I'm coming in on Disney Transportation but if yo see me at the terminal, I ALWAYS have valium. I'm just sayin...:wizard:
