August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

How are you feeling later in the day? Are you finding that your energy level us up yet?
Yep, I am.. More than after an hour pilates session.

I haven't done Day 2 of week 1 yet...I was away all weekend and could not get to the gym because I was on other's schedule. But I started on Wednesday, so I should be able to get the 2nd and 3rd day in tonight and tomorrow.
you can do it Mindy. Don't get discouraged when you do two days in a row, the second is MUCH harder.... I tried that last week and the second day was hard without the recovery day. Now, I'll always have that recovery day!

Good luck to all you who are hoping to lose weight - you can do it! :cheer2:

I got excited on Saturday when I got a letter from disney about our trip and the ports, I thought it was our luggage tags, etc :sad2: But to get us (even more) excited we have put the letter on the fridge. Not that we need reminding about the trip, I do a countdown every day to my parents :rotfl:

Hi! I have been following this thread for a while now and thought I should intruduce my family and I. We are super excited for this cruise! There's me, DH, DS (who is 15), DD (who is 10, but will be turning 11 on the cruise! :)) and DGM (My mom) This will be our second cruise on the Magic and we are looking forward to going to the Med.

:welcome:party: What day is your daughters birthday?

Remind your servers at the beginning of dinner that day or perhaps even the day before and they will make sure that you get a cake.

I would have loved to have more time....but that pesky work thing gets in the way!! I only ended up with one at each end because it took about $500 off the airfare...more than enough for an extra night's hotel! Where are you staying after the cruise?

Lisa
Hi Lisa: We are staying at Hotel HCC Montblanc on Via Laietana. I believe it is near Las Ramblas. :cool1:

Day 2 done...OMG...it was so much harder than the the 1st day...I think it's the difference between doing it in the morning vs evening. I think I'm gonna hurt tomorrow...I may have to wait until Wed to do day 3.

Stretch. Stretch well and often. Do something tomorrow, even if it isn't the prescribed day 3 workout and then stretch again. Motrin. Protein. Stretch.

Good Morning!!!!

Gosh I don't post for a few days and it all happens on the boards. My laptop is a bit slow at the moment (new one taking 10 days to arrive), so mainly posting at work and on my Iphone, so if you see any posts with terrible mistakes in - that will be the iphone one!).

Weather changed, still warm, but drizzle, must say it is quite pleasant really, I love the sun and heat, but this feels nice.

Hi all, we have had a busy weekend and Mon/Tues will be very busy gettting ready for the trip home on Weds. Unfortunately, both US & England now out of world cup....:sad2:

Kate: You should look at www.sonicdrivein.com, it's a very funny web site.
It is a fast food rest. The website has their nutritional info, quite shocking!!

If it works out with the bus company to the port, that would be great or if you need to split it with your friend, no problem, we will just get a taxi.

Have a great week ahead-
Shawn

Shame about the football. I notice today that eveyone has taken their England flags off their cars and houses, I think in disgust, but I don't suppose they go out to lose - all our good players in our UK teams are foreign, so it was par for the course that we wouldn't have a great English team!!

Shawn, I was meaning that we could all share the bus, yourselves and my friends. I have heard today that she is definately booking tonight, but not sure if staying in the same hotel or not. No doubt I wll speak to her later, when the deed is done, I will then make some enquires from the company we used before. It was really good because when we arrived at the terminal, the Disney porters just took the cases and that was it, last time we saw them was in the cabins. Because we were on the bus, we got right up to the entrance and it was all very very easy.

Thank you! DD and I have been busy packing our shoes and pirate costumes!
-Joan

Hi Joan, our dd will be dressing up. OH just wore his dinner shirt - outside his trousers and his red waistcoat, so looked really good. I haven't got much, but may have a look for a blouse I could use. My dd saw a very 'sexy' pirate lady outfit in a costume shop over the weekend and told me 'you should wear that for Pirate night mummy'. Not sure Disney are ready for fishnets, mini skirt and thigh boots  Neither am I for that matter!

Hi everyone! I just read on cruise critic on someone who booked on the Aug 7th sailing, who booked a cat 12, got a cat 9 assigned last Thurs. So, it looks like those of with GTY's should be getting our cabin assignments soon!!!! My guess is either late this week, or early next week as that will be around 45 days from sailing.

We got ours last time at 45 days, I suppose I am hoping that we may get an outside, although probably not, last time we got a 11 and then upgraded to a nine on board, but we will try again for an upgrade at the port. Got used to having the window now!

Hi,
just one of the quiet Canadians checking in! Haven't had much time to post or read lately....we got a new puppy (lab/sheppard mix) on the weekend...and to say she has taken over would be an understatement!

Congrats to all you exercisers....I guess with a dog in my life I'll be doing lots of walking!!!!

Can't wait for cabin assignments and the cruise....get I'd better get my port done for the journal.....

Lisa

Hi. Great news about the dog, life will never be the same for a bit, but it does get easier! We have two dogs - dog training was my job for many years (I am a dog trainer/behaviourist), although not actively working as such, I still help out friends now and again.

I'm done with mine, just trying to work out a technical detail in the program. Mary was nice and proofed it!

Is it possible to get a copy of this? I feel I should contribute if so, let me know if there is anything I can help with.

Day 2 done...OMG...it was so much harder than the the 1st day...I think it's the difference between doing it in the morning vs evening. I think I'm gonna hurt tomorrow...I may have to wait until Wed to do day 3.

I just did my 4th session. Day 1 of week 2 this morning. I wasn't as bad as I thought, but definately better doing it in the morning. I was tempted to do it yesterday, but think it is good to have a day in between. I make sure I do the warm down and then a little bit of stretching. I also do a bit of stretching before starting the walking, I am sure this helps.

Keep at it Mindy. The thinking about it is horrid, but once you get and do it, it isn't that bad. My OH thinks I am nuts! (nothing new there then!:rolleyes1).

I see that a few people have birthdays, dd's is at the end of September, do you think we will be able to arrange a cake. A bit premature, but we wouldn't be able to cruise on the actual date - what do you think?

Speak later Have a good day.

Kate

Kate,

They don't check to see if it's your actual birthday. I would just tell the server it's her bday and celebrate....a lot of people do that.

I gave in to Lelli kelly's before we went in May - have lost some sequins already but they still look ok. The best positive is my little girl loves them so much, there's no arguing about putting on shoes which is normally a battle. I agree though, they cost far more than they are worth.

Hi

Managed not to get the Lelli Kellys!! She liked the Geox ones more, which are very functional (ours is not to reason why!).

Do I recall you saying that you would be interested in doing FE's? I too would be interested and am happy to keep a list if anyone else is.

Let me know.

Kate

Is anyone interested in a tour of Barcelona or Montserrat- pick up at cruise ship and go around, then drop off at hotel around 4pm? (we are staying near catalyuna at Hotel Continental in las ramblas).

Lori-

I just downloaded the app. It looks doable. I think I can handle 20 mins to start so I am going to give it a try. I need a little structure over the next few weeks to keep me motivated about exercise. Yes I have to loose weight :headache: but more importantly I do not want to be exhausted after walking so much on these all day tours. Thanks!

Yes Mary, that's it!!! I use the c25k app that I downloaded to my iPhone, it's MUCH easier not having to look at a clock. It just dings in your ears when you need to switch it up.

I was wondering how you did the timing when doing outdoors....I only know when to switch from running to walking when I see the timer on the treadmill. I don't know how I'd do it if I did it outside...I'd have to get a stopwatch. I hope this does something for me, I mean I'm embarrassed to run outside...people will see this "fat" woman running and it can't be pretty...I do break a pretty good sweat though. Yesterday I made the mistake of putting the treadmill on interval training when I was doing it and I couldn't figure out at first why the running was so hard and then I realized it had added an incline, which I wasn't ready for. If I drop 10 lbs (which is a drop in the bucket) before the cruise, I'll be happy. I guess I'll have to curb the calorie intake, which seems harder for me to do these days:confused3

I think if you just walked for an hour a day that would be better then nothing! You do not need to run to lose weight or to be in shape. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and yes you will DEFINITELY be thankful if you are able to walk at least an hour once you get to Europe! You can do it!!! Start at 30 minutes, go up to 45, then to an hour. If you grab a friend, or listen to a book on your IPOD or something you can make it fun :)

Hi Guys

This is the one that I have been doing....

http://runningmate.podomatic.com/ I don't think it is the same, but probably the same plan.

I have it on my iphone and the guy speaks to me now and again, enourages me on and it plays music that you can keep a rhythm to. You can also download an app that allows you to have your own music playing and he chimes in! There is also a facebook page which helps spur you on, although I haven't really looked at this yet.

I agree you don't have to run to lose weight, I walk a lot with the dogs at least twice a day, but it isn't really speed walking. With this, I have only run for a max of two and a half minutes at a time, before walking again, so it is much more managable and faster than doing lots of walking. Thank you so much for letting me know about it.

My mum also told me about this app. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ which I have put on the iphone and it monitors your exercise/food intake, giving you calories etc. etc. I only intend keep track for a week or so, but it is a good habit to get into just to see what I am taking on board I have been surprised at stuff that I thought was hardly any calories, but is!!

Mindy, I had a chuckle at you running up hills!!! If you carry on doing that, you will find a few times around the deck very easy!!! I made a mistake this morning and on my last run of the session, ended up at the bottom of a small incline. It was really hard and nearly did me in!!! So definately flat is best!!!

Don't worry about what people think either. I know it takes a lot of guts to go out and run in public, but to be honest, whenever I see someone who looks like they need a bit of exercise (like me!), I feel like congratulating them on what they are doing, rather than ridicule them. I went out at 7 this morning, so not many people around, where I live is next to a huge lake, so only people I may see around there are dog walkers. Only saw two this morning and both of them looked like they should be joining me!

Superstar, the FE list could be us two, which isn't a problem. I don't want to go ahead and do anything, as I think Vicky may be doing it, so shall wait and see if she responds - I don't want to step on anyones toes!!!

Oh, I had a look at the Sonic site, we don't have anything like that here (yet!), we have only just got Krispy Cremes!

Kate

Kate you guys got krispy cremes? Really? We had them up in NY but they **** down. I was just down in North Carlona and had one fresh off the belt...oh my god...so good but not something to eat all the time lol!

Mindy- I know what you mean. I have way more to lose than 10 lbs , but that would be nice to lose before we leave, at least then if I gain a few pounds I will be right back to where I was:rotfl:!

I do walk a few times a week for around 30 mins a day but I haven't really been dropping any pounds so I think punching it up might work because it will rev the metabolism....oh that and because I too am having a hard time dieting. It has been one party after the next, one vacation after the next etc. I am just thankful that after this weekend I have no serious plans until paris so eating healthy and counting calories should be a bit easier.

I've also got way more than 10lbs to lose. So far, I've lost 40 from my highest weight ever and I'd like to lose 50 more, but I'll take 10 more by cruise time!!!!! I have to admit that I'm no longer watching what I eat and have to start again. I don't feel self-conscious running, personally I don't care! I know why I'm doing it, trying to get healthier and I'll do it in my own time!!!! I usually am out around 6:30, so not too many out at that time.
