Personally, I would not do Florence- bc we are in La Spezia it's about 2.5 hours drive and about that long on the train as well. Pisa is fine but if you are planning on being in Tuscany again I might just skip it until then. It's a bit complicated on the train, appearantly. We are doing Cinque Terre and are quite excited! Our plane is to take the train to the farthest town, hike around, and keep taking the train towards the ship stopping for lunch during the day. We have a 6 month old so she will be carried by us.
We are also doing the train in Rome as well. I think we are going to buy vatican tickets for 2:30 and try to make the 530 train. We have early seating but are not TOO concerned with being back on time. Topsiders can do for one day

We are doing the ancient stuff in the morning with the baby while it's less hot. Hopefully it works out! Traveling with a little one is exciting, huh?
I think you are right about Florence, we have been there several times now and I love it, but we have always take the bus from the ship on the various cruiselines and then 'DIY'. Never risked the train to Florence, looks too compliated.
The train to Pisa is an easy one. I suppose you just change things to suit as they get older. We had some great times travelling with our dd when she was little and it gets better, but different as they get older.
DD was watching a TV programme about volcanos yesterday and when I mentioned we could go up one on holiday, that was it, sold!!! - so I am hoping the weather isn't horrendously hot in Naples. She has been up it before, but can't remember it, as she must have been around 3 at the time!
Did my Week 2 Day 2 today at 6.30 when the rest of the house was sleeping. It was OK, I wasn't so tired as last time and a couple of the first runs I actually was coasting!!! Not so on the last one!
I love the look of the journal page, do say I can have a copy!!!
Mindy, so sorry to hear about your daughter. We have had a lot of Meningitis in the UK, my nephew had it when he was a baby, although didn't have any major ill effects. Fingers crossed she has just a bit of a stiff neck or a virus. My dd has a stinking cold, although not too bad in herself, I dosed her up yesterday and sent her off to school and was expecting to get a phone call all day - but I did feel guilty

She is a bit better today, I hope your dd is better soon too. Sounds like you are going to need this holiday (next month!!!).
Great about the meet, I missed part of the last one I was in, because it was so late on the first evening and organising unpacking, over excited child (also over excited OH!) etc., I didn't meet half the group. This time is much more manageable, I think we may like to do the wine tasting too, we had a wine package last time and it was disappointing, but maybe if we can taste some beforehand, we might have better luck. Although we are going to bring some of our own on board too, which seems really weird to me, but when in Rome....... DD is already familiar with the club, so we won't have that worry this time either and need to keep checking back!
OK, back to work for a bit, don't want to stop the wheels of industry turning in the UK. Rainy here today, but still warm.
Have a great day everyone.
