August 17, 2014 4 night DREAM

YES!!! Score one for me!!!

I just booked my airfare for august which happens to be less than I spent last year!! Santa was real nice to me this year!!

Okay so my list looks like this...

Booked a dcl cruise - Check

Booked airfare- Check

Start making the FE gift - :scared1:
is it too soon to start??

LADY LESLIE! This will be our third cruise together! How exciting! We are doing a back to back August 9-16 on the Fantasy, then this one!!

Now why didn't I think of that??? that sounds like an awesome vacation!!

Oops! We did do Atlantis. Was very expensive as we had booked an excursion with lots of options. If we were to do this again, I'd go with the water park only. Otherwise it makes for a rushed and crowded day. The lazy river was lovely.
L

we did Atlantis via DCL and thru comfort suites.... I'm thinking we are going to go through comfort suites during one of our stops at the Bahamas this time around..... (you save a lot doing it that way).... Last time we also brought a small cooler(which we had packed just for the occasion) with food (room service we ordered the night before and packed into Ziploc bags) and crystal lights envelopes we poured into water bottles we brought with us from dcl...

Although with comfort suites we had access to all of Atlantis, we stayed in the pool area and of course the lazy river... Nice and relaxing time...

Hi! We'll be on this cruise as well. Our cabin is myself, DH, DS (8), and DS (5). DMIL is treating us and DSIL's family to celebrate the boys' birthdays.

This was a Christmas surprise for the boys and they are SO excited! This is our 1st cruise as a family.

Looking forward to the countdown with everyone!

Looking at the FE list (trying to get my mind off of this cold weather), it seems like most everyone is in the 2nd seating. Is this preferable to the first? We've never cruised before, and our TA automatically assigned us to the 1st seating. Thanks.

I think it depends on the ages of any kids in your party and if you have any excursions planned. We took a family vote and decided on second seating on our first cruise because nobody wanted to have to start getting ready at 4:00 for the early seating. With four people taking showers and two with thick hair to dry, that's how it would have been. My girls were 10 and 16 at the time. When I booked this cruise it was unanimous that we would book second seating again.

If I had little kids I think I'd do first seating so they wouldn't be falling asleep at the table:). Second seating sounded late to me when we booked it, but there's lots of food available on the ship if you need a little snack to keep you going.

On the first leg of our vacation we will be enjoying the 2nd seating and it will be the first time in our 8 DCL cruises we have done so. (But for this cruise will be enjoying 1st seating)

We kinda felt that if we ate at eight my daughter would fall asleep through it, especially after having sat through an hour show..... Now she's a little older and we are giving second seating a try to see if we like it....

I looked at airfares and I wish I could book! JetBlue had the four of us for $1200, which is pretty good. BUT, I can't buy airfare until my senior decides where she's going to college next year. When I booked this cruise, I assumed she'd be going to a school that started Labor Day weekend, so we'd be back in plenty of time. Three out of the four schools she's applied to fall into that category. The fourth, a school that has already accepted her, starts August 22. If she goes there I'll have to cancel the cruise:(. She's been accepted to two schools and we won't hear from the others until February or March.

Of course, I want her to choose the best school for her.............I just hope we can still cruise!

We will be on this cruise as well. Will be myself, dh, dd12 , ds7 & dd3. Dh, myself and oldest dd cruised on the Magic in 2004. Looking forward to being on the Dream.

I have been dreaming of Atlantis since it's first commercial! How do I go about in booking this the way you did too get to swim at Atlantis? Do tell please. :-)

When you book a room at comfort suites you get passes to Atlantis which is literally right next door ....

So after docking at the Bahamas .... we got off the ship and joined the mass leaving the boat...

before leaving the cruise terminal... we tracked down a taxi driver going to Atlantis.... (the drivers are piled up trying to get your business... I believed we paid $6 per person) we did not have the cab solely for our family - we shared with a 2 other families - one was going to comfort suites the other going to atlantis... (it was a mini van looking taxi)

The taxi left us right in front of Comfort Suites .... we checked into the hotel and checked out at the same time (the hotel pretty much is use to people doing this) and kept on hand the paperwork comfort suites gave us...

We walked out the back door of comfort suites crossed the street and into the lobby of the next building..... which is the Royal Towers - one of the many buildings that make up part of Atlantis (I think this is the name).... you end up walking across a long hallway and then go thru the casino. Don't misplace your comfort suites receipt as security will be asking for it because your not wearing a band that identifies your as a guest and then go to the left and down the staircase. Once you get to the bottom, the adventure tour desk is on the left.

This trekking around to find the right desk can be annoying, but don't suffer in silence... ask any one that looks like a staff member... we found them pretty friendly.

So the trick is to watch out for any good deals for comfort suites....
