August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

This thread is approaching 12,000 posts...I have watched from the background while staying on the sidelines in our small group of families from Turkey Day Gangs of Years past, though I do recognize a couple names here from those groups as well. That said, we have met and cruised a second, third, fourth or even fifth time with at least a dozen families around the country we have met on Disboards, many of whom remain close personal friends.

Given the obvious connection many of you clearly have with one another, I hope that once you get to the ship and then thereafter that the same camaraderie continues because with a little bit of effort, you will have cruise companions and good friends in general for years to come.

My goodness, I see in your signture that you have gone on lots of Turkey cruises! We are scheduled for the 2012 one on the Fantasy. Any chance my family will see you on that cruise? :)

Love all of the family photos!! Thanks,, for sharing them with us all!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Love all the pics!! The tink shirts are too cute as are the antlers!

Can I tell you how much I hate ironing? No, cuz there are no words lol! And I have had to iron the last two days. Tonight I ironed the guys pirate shirts and dhs took half an hour to iron! It has really full double ruffled cuffs. Oh what a joy. Alexa came down while I was doing it and I told her to make sure she never marries a pirate!

I'm with you, I HATE ironing too! I have a small laundry basket full of shorts and tops that need to be ironed. I am out of shorts so sooner or later I'm going to have to do it (I only have 3 days left before we leave and I haven't packed yet!!).

Nicely said, Chuck. I hope all is ok with your family for you to reschedule a cruise, especially a TURKEY cruise. I've actually sailed with you before (Turkey 2005). You're probably in some of my pictures at Costa Maya beach day. You won't be able to miss Chuck-he's very tall!! I think part of what makes these cruises so great are the friendships that form. We still keep in touch and have traveled again with cruisers we met in 2003 and a bunch of us were part of the 2009 Tortola cruise turned Western. :thumbsup2

anyone else feel like this? I just finished making blackened chicken fettuccini alfredo for dinner, then doing the dishes, and I said to my family "I can't wait for vacation when someone else will be cooking for me, serving me, and cleaning my room..ahhhhh!!!"

truly one of the best things about being on a cruise. :)

I can't wait!!!!!

You guys have NO idea how ready for vacation I am too!!!!!!!!!!! My job situation is way too complicated to get into, but it's been a total nightmare lately, with some days (kinda today still) not knowing where I will be working in the next couple of days!

OK, here is us, I pulled this off Facebook, so I'm not sure how the quality is, it was taken last August at the BC...

Erika-- I hope that the work nightmare levels out and that you'll be able to forget about some of it while on vacation.

thanks for the pics of everyone! I've enjoyed seeing everyone's families tonight. I think that our last family photo was formal night on the Magic in 2009. :scared1:

Hi guys
Good morning!

All the pictures look really great! It will be good to see you all on the ship!

I'm getting beyond excited:lmao:

This time next week we'll be at the airport :cool1::cool1:

Oh and I hate ironing too!

Hi Everyone...

I still need to find rental car (SUV if possible) from MCO to Port Canaveral. The rates that I found are very high :(

I'm wondering if you can share the code that you find the cheapest for any rental car agencies. Thanks so much!

:grouphug:Erika, I hope the job situation works out..:grouphug:

My questions are... how does this all work? What do I have to do? and what does it save me?... or is it better to just book on Day 1 when a cruise comes out?

You get 3 main benefits: 10% discount, on-board credit, and reduced deposit amount. Booking on-line is 20%, on-board you only need a 10% deposit to book.

Most will book a "dummy" date (one we don't intend on sailing) to get the benefits and then when the 2013 rates come out change the booking to the 2013 date. The new booking retains the obc and reduced deposit.

Talked with Kristin tonight and said how I am so ready for this vacation...part of it is just that I am so ready to be hanging out and having all this fun with everyone in person!

Seems like we all could use the break from work, life, etc and all deserve some pampering!! Love all the family pictures.

I have finally stopped procrastinating and started to pack. I looked at the 5 day Navigators and now I'm confused. :confused3:confused3:confused3

Do I have it right that there is no Formal Night?

Tuesday (departure) cruise casual
Wednesday (CC) cruise casual
Thursday (At Sea) semi formal
Friday (Nassau) pirate night
Saturday (CC) cruise casual

Am I overdressing my girls to have them in dresses at dinner every night?

What is everyone doing on semi formal night? I think I might just make this our family formal night and dress everyone up a bit more. Do formal nights only happen on 7 day cruises? I seem to remember both a formal and a semi formal night on our Halloween cruise to the WC.

I am so behind, this seems like it was posted a long time ago, instead of 2 days! Anyway, That is the same rotation that I have, and I think it is correct. I booked Palo the night of the Semi-formal dress, so DH and I will be dressed for that. I am planning on DD wearing a dress or skirt every night for dinner, as for DS's they will be wearing dress shorts and collared shirts for dinner. Since they will not be eating in the dining room on semi-formal night, I am not even packing long pants for them.

I think Formal nights are only on 7 day or longer.

How was it being on a cruise over Thanksgiving? Was the ship decorated for Christmas? I'm very curious!!!

I used Budget (they have a desk at our hotel and close to PC). I used a discover code: Y937800. Got a minivan for $80.16 (incl taxes/fees). Best I could do.

Try this site carrentalsavers.com I found it on the Transportation board and it searches many discounts at once.

Good Luck!

This is not my favorite photo, but it is the most recent one that includes all of us -

For breakfast at CIS, I am sure nobody will miss us. I will be the frantic mother, trying to calm down 4 overly excited kids that are off the wall.

Looking forward to a parking lot meet between RI and CIS prior to the cruise. Has a time been set? I feel like if I miss this meet, I will go through the entire cruise looking at all the people around me wondering if I met them through these boards.

Oh no, I just realized our rental car may need to be returned by 10am, I hope I dont miss the meet!

We are also going. Can't wait.
We are George and Brenda with 3 DSs Michael 15, Anthony 11, and Nicholas 10.

We are doing the kayaking and parasailing on one day and the snorkeling the other. We are also going to universal (haven't been in 5 years) before the cruise and AKL after.

One week from today, at this time we will be in the air (hopefully) and on our way to Orlando Airport!!:banana: We have been on a lot of vacations, but for some reason, we are looking forward to this one more than any of the others in the past!! Not sure why we are:confused3:confused3, maybe because we booked it almost 2 years ago??

Everyday I get asked if we are going to pack today?? well, today may be the actual day I pack the kids stuff up. I could probably pack most of my stuff too, but my washing machine broke down the other day and the repairman is coming on Saturday, so I still have stuff to wash that I may want to bring. I like to lay everything out that I may bring, then I pull stuff out, then I put some back, then I pull more out, then I weigh the suitcase, then I pull more out and we make the weight limit of 50lbs per bag, then we leave and while we are away I figure out that we have WAY TOO MUCH stuff and I swear that the next vacation I will learn and not pack half as much stuff!!!
Really, besides bathing suits, cover-ups, and night time clothing what else do we need...but I will pack an outfit, at least, for everyday, plus night time wear, plus some just in case clothing and I know I will have too many shoes. But, I will overpack anyway!!

Since, we already have a 2012 cruise booked, we will also be booking a dummy date until the 2013 rates come out.

I would have rebooked our 2012 cruise but the price has already increased by more than 10% so it doesn't make sense to change what we already have.
