As a follow-up to the rebooking question I have a tip that may save you some time. Normally when rebooking you choose a date and category that doesn't matter so you choices are kind of irrelevant. My point being, there really isn't any need to sit down with the on-board sales person.

If you are booking a dummy date then just call the sales desk extension, tell them who you are, what you want, and tell then to put the deposit on the stateroom account. If you want a TA to have the reservation them in the message include that information.

For instance, I will call and tell them to put us on the 12/08/2012 Magic sailing in a category 9 (at the moment the least expensive) with cruise insurance, charge it to my room and give the reservation to All Seasons Travel. Done! No waiting in line at the sales desk for an hour or more to book a date I don't intend to keep.

Keep in mind that your deposit is 10% so when booking a dummy date it makes sense to choose an inexpensive cruise. Typically the beginning of December is very reasonable.

Jeff

thanks for the great tip! that's how we ended up on this cruise, we were on last year's 5 night at this same time, and loved it so much we had to book another, not really aware of the benefits of onboard booking.

Kristin - that pic of your girls is soo adorable!!

as for the cake, we have a fabulous cupcake bakery in town, and the owner also makes these custom cakes - she's very good, obviously. it was a splurge, but I couldn't resist! grumpy is dh's favorite and goofy is ds's fav.

When you rebook onboard you get DCL OBC and then if you transfer it to your TA you get their OBC!! I love trasnfering it to my TA for the extra OBC!!:):thumbsup2

Great family photos! When I get home tonight I'll see if I can find a good photo from last Halloween's cruise.

Beth (TinkerbellTwins): Yes, the ship is decorated for Christmas during Thanksgiving, it looks really nice. We have some great photos in front of a huge Christmas tree in the Magic's atrium. We also went to WDW afterward and saw the Osborne family light show at Disney Studios. :thumbsup2

Good point, forgot to mention that. Yes, one from DCL and one from your TA. WINNING! (Sorry, couldn't resist the Charlie Sheen reference). :rotfl2:

Does anyone here scrapbook? I used to traditional scrapbook, but have really gotten into digital scrapbooking - love it!! this past month I finished the book of last August's cruise --just in time to go on another one!

anyone mind if I post some of the pages I made?

I have done a fair amount of digital scrapping too..I have some pages ..will try to find them

In two days we will be checking in at the airport for our flight :) this afternoon I will get the kids to pack their clothes for the cruise as well as their carry on bags.... Trying to decide how many days of clothing to bring.. We will have a washer and dryer in the house pre cruise, but then we have the cruise and 3 days at AKL afterwards.... So 5 days worth, 8 days worth? So tough to decide :)

Laurie,

Those are AMAZING!! Would love to see more.. Thanks, for sharing!!:):thumbsup2

My TA (AST) said you really need to link the booking to them when you make it (instead of adding them afterwards). He sent a photo of exactly how to fill out the re-booking card, asking for a "placeholder" cruise (if you dont already know which cruise you want). He gave step by step instructions for what to put in each field of the request card. Apparently, DCL will see this "placeholder" request and give you a date in early Dec for a cheap cruise. You will never have to meet with the DCL people, or pick a date yourself, and they will charge the deposit to your credit card on file.

hmm,I have a tendency to overpack...that being said, I'd lean towards 8 days I think.

They are great Laurie! Thanks for sharing them!

thanks ladies!! I'm such a perfectionist it took forever to make this album of our cruise and Beach club stay! I had 700 photos to choose from (didn't use them all), ended up making a 34 page 12x12 album!!

oooOOOOOHHHHHhhhhh Look at all these lovely families!!!

(she would love to email/chat with any other EDGE kids - she's 11 going into 6th)

finally starting to think about getting ready to pack, need to print my packing list...kids are getting excited to see how close we are getting!

I've been jonesing for disney, so I'll be happy to be at my beloved AKL on the 12th!! (and the sad thing is we were just at disney last November)

anyone else NOT doing any tours in ports? we want to enjoy the ship as much as possible, though we did rent floats for Castaway Cay. our last cruise it was rainy on our CC day, so I'm hoping it will be a better experience this time! :)

Oh, and my daughter is making something for our door where it's a quiz and people can answer a new trivia question every day. we are in room 6084

Hey See ya in Disney we are also going to AKl before the cruise we get in on the 13. Have fun getting ready.
:cool1:
