Erika - I just have to warn your family....DH and DS is spending the morning looking at cruise food photos and have decided that we are ordering EVERYTHING off of the menu! :rotfl2: I will admit that there were a few things I will be considering doubling up on. :rolleyes1

Just wanted to double check... I don't want to read the daily schedules (like the surprise once I am on the ship)..

There is no formal night on the 5 night cruises correct? We dont mind them, but if we dont have to pack extra formal clothes, we wont.

Also, does Jim need a jacket for Palo? or will a shirt and tie work as well?

Thanks
Carole

I'm like you, I don't want to read the navigators either, TMI.

LOL, fair warning right back at ya, my family is fairly simple and plain eaters sometimes, so we should balance out nicely!

That is so funny - I pour over all the navigators trying to decide all the things I want to do on the ship and then in the end...change my mind and go with the flow!

I am hoping to do a few of the things I am planning out on this cruise though.

That would be Emily - last cruise she ate the chicken nuggets off the kids meal for every dinner! Even our server was teasing her by the end. DS is starting to get a bit more adventurous but is planning on steak every night. It is DH and I who will want all the different things.

Don't get any of us going on the desserts though...there is NO way I will be able to decide on just one! :lmao:

Well, our post cruise plans have changed a little, when I booked the BCV for after the cruise I wait-listed us for BLT and the waitlist came thru!

Did you by chance give up a Studio at BCV? We are currently booked for BLT but are waitlisted for BCV for just one night post cruise.

DD got her permit and tonight the whole family went on a ride with her as the driver! :scared1: :rotfl: We went through the neighborhood and on a few other roads. Overall...she did great! Exciting and scary all at the same time!

:goodvibes:scared1::lmao:

BIG HUG to Emily !!!!
and ;););) GOOD LUCK to you !!!! :rotfl2: laura

Thanks, they arrived home tonight..He is going to his regular dr. on Monday @ 11:00 so I am just hoping that it is good news and nothing is seriously wrong. Fingers Crossed!! So that they can come on the cruise with us still!!

:scared1::scared1:My poor foot today. I went out into the garage barefoot and stepped on a piece of metal and it went into my foot. I had to go and get a tetanus shot. It is the same foot I fractured!!:scared1::scared1:

Kristin , you surely need a vacation soon !!! ;) BETTER ... A CRUISE !!!!! laura

I know that I am so late but just found this board. We are obviously DCL newbies! We are sailing the 16th as well and can't wait! I am quickly adding posts so I can PM Jen regarding the 8/16 cruise. I am traveling with my DH, DD who is 6 and DS who is 11. We will be at the Beach Club the week before.

WELCOME !!!

Morning Everyone! Today is going to be a lazy sort of day in our house and I am so excited to just do what I want to do or even just do nothing! :goodvibes I am happy to say that I have the next 2 weeks off and am thrilled about that as well. I do have some work that I have to get done at home and I have to finish a presentation I will be giving on the 7th about our iPad program and I do have a few things to do for DD's dance team. Still, it should be relaxing. We will be leaving on on Friday (July 1st) to go up to our lake place and won't be coming back home until Saturday (July 9th).

:banana::banana: SOOO NICE that you'll have some rest over the next weeks !!!
:yay::yay::yay: How beautiful that you all can spend time at your lake place !!! :dance3::dance3::dance3: Here is hoping you'll have WONDERFUL weather !!!

Jen~~I am happy to pick you and Paul up what ever beer, wine, etc. you need for the cruise. Just let me know!!

Rough day here yesterday. My parents are in vacation in Williamsburg, VA. My mom had to take my dad to the ER for chest-pains yesterday and he threw-up too!! He has been admitted to the hospital. My brother is on vacation in Florida right now and I am here in CT. My dad is having a non-stress test today. So hopefully we will know more. We all want him to come home and be here. They have there car down there 10 hours away from home. So I might be having to fly down to get their car. But first and foremost I want my daddy to be ok...So I might not be on here much in the next few days!!

Oh Kristin, so sorry to hear about your dad. Glad he's doing better.

As someone who has used them a lot....what would you recommend for a family of 4? It would be me, DH, DD (think teenager who over packs), DS and then what do you do with all your "extras" (shoes, toiletries, etc)?

I use the 3 piece set that has the large, medium and small packing cubes for each person, and then use these in the cruise cabin drawers. Formal clothes are packed in a thin suit garment bag. Toiletries I pack in one of those cosmetic organizer cases, shoes go in the bottom of the suitcase between the metal bars and I wear my bulkiest pair- usually the sneakers while travelling. Everything else is stuffed in the gaps. Non essentials I say to my DD, if you can't carry it in your backpack it stays home.

We have late seating as well for our family of four (kids are 10 and 5). I thought about it and think that it will work out best for us in the end. From what I understand the counselors come and take the kids part way through dinner for late seating (if they want to go) and that option isn't available for early seating.

I think that the kids will be happier not sitting there for 2hrs and will prefer the kids clubs! :thumbsup2

We had late seating in the past and the kids enjoyed being able to go to the kid's club during dinner.

Thanks Laura! Today was Emily's 3rd time out driving - we are trying to get her to do little trips each day - and she is doing well! :thumbsup2

I so hope the weather is good for our trip to the lake. I plan on enjoying being outside and having fun!

Thanks for the advice. I love the thought of how organized you can be with the cubes and think we could us them often. Between the photos on the other thread and your info here...I think I can figure it out! THANKS!

We have always had late dining in the past and really loved it. This time we are trying early and we will see what we think. :goodvibes

Well, my fun times with my family came to an abrupt end on Wednesday when we were in a car accident. Thankfully, there 3 kids in the car and they were not hurt. Our car was considered a total loss which is a shame. I, on the other hand, seemed to have gotten all of the injuries. I broke my arm in several places. The bone came out in one section. I had to have it cleaned out and then will have to have surgery on it later this week. I told the surgeon we had to get all fixed up by the cruise. :)

Thank goodness the rest of your family was OK, but your arm:scared1:
We must be an accident prone bunch of Disers here.:sad2: I hope that you can get it fixed so that at least your not in pain for your vacation. As for going on the mend that's going to take a while, hopefully you'll have all those extra hands around you to help. Just think, you can practically be waited on hand and foot on the cruise, no bed to make up, no chores, etc, giving you a few days to heal while relaxing.

Alexa ate Mac and Cheese and rice every meal! They never even bothered to ask what she wanted, they just brought it right to her every night LOL.

Desserts, now that's a whole different story, we ate A LOT of those!! One night I had a hard time deciding, and finally picked one, and the waiter brought me both anyway. And another night dh ordered two for me. Yummy!
