Jen and I were discussing how we are almost at the one year mark. She is planning a Disney Cruise Night for her family on the 16th. We have decided to do a DCL night here on the 16th as well. Anyone, else want to join in on the one year DCL Cruise Night. Jen and I were thinking it would be fun for any other families to celebrate the one year mark and take pictures of their celebrations....then we can post them.......for everyone to see.........

Hello Everyone.

It is FRIDAY.

My company is going on a two week shut down. I have to work the first 3 days but that is it. It is good and bad. First week is forced vacation and second is furlough - but it is still out of here. I will be working from home at least.

We go up to the lake (Lake Ontario) for the second week of my shut down. My MIL has a cottage there.

I cannot believe we are almost at the 1 year mark. I really need to start thinking and working on FE's.

Jen - are we doing the laynards? If so, count us in for 4. If you need help let me know. Also have not told my DD - 14 about the spa yet. I think I am trying to avoid that.

Isn't it totally exciting that we are almost at the 1 year point! I haven't been overly excited about this cruise yet but now that we are reaching the 1 year mark, it feels like it is really going to happen and I am getting ready to make plans!

I would have loved it if DD did not know about the teen spa but she is a fan of DCL on FB and it was posted there. I have already told her it will be her money spent at the spa if she goes.

Yep, I bet we will be doing lanyards. I have a spot for it on our cruise website and so far we have 40 spoken for. I will add your family to the list later tonight.

My family LOVES Disney nights! We usually play Disney music while we prepare supper, try to make a meal similar to what we would eat at some WDW restaurant and then all watch a Disney movie together.

I can't wait to take photos and post them here! It will be fun to see what your family does as well...AND...I hope others join in the fun!

Harry - Are you going to join in with a Disney night on the 16th? That would be cool if we could video link the parties but I will be thinking of all of you as we celebrate reaching the 1 year point!!!!

Pirate night is a great way to celebrate it being the 1 year mark for our August 16th cruise! You will have to post a picture from that night to share how you celebrated!!!!

Doesn't have to be a formal party...just celebrate the 1 year countdown! Be sure to post a photo of the family on that night - loads of fun to "see" everyone!

Jen and Kristin - I am trying to talk Sean into a party on the 16th too. Please send any ideas - as you know, I am very creatively-challenged!!!

Lisa, a European DCL trip is my dream vacation. I can't wait to hear more about it!!!

Kevin and Tess are off to summer overnight camp this week for "Operation Purple". It's a typical overnight camp (kayaking, water sports, hiking in the Adirondacks, a challenge and ropes course, etc) with an extra component in that it is offered for kids whose parents are/were/will be deployed soon. It's called Operation Purple because "purple" denotes inclusion of all services - Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force. Kevin was asked back (he went last year) by the Military Family Association to lead a discussion group about what it's like to be the kid of a deployed mom. And luckily, Tess was accepted to go too. I miss them both already but I know they are having a great time...our house is very, very quiet!!

Jude - I will send you an e-mail with what we are doing for our party! I have loads of ideas but haven't really finalized it quite yet. I have started an e-mail to you and added to it throughout the day so maybe by tomorrow I will be ready to send it!

The camp for the kids sounds like so much fun for them. I think it is great that there is such a special place for them to go and do all those things. I bet you do miss them but I hope you are able to take some time for yourself and enjoy the quiet!

Just passing through.... haven't had much time lately to get onto the DIS. Work is getting in the way of life these days. Why is it you have to work double hard before a vacation and then work hard when you get back. Almost makes it not worth it. Not quite though.

We leave Saturday for our vacation. No Disney for us this time around. Going to a family reunion outside NYC, to the baseball hall of fame, Niagara Falls and the Finger Lakes. I am so excited. Never been there!

Love the idea about the 1 yr party but unfortunately I'll be going out of town the day after we get back from vacation. Look forward to hearing (and seeing) what everyone does.

Yes - it looks like we may actually be home on the 16th to do something!! Our summer "vacation" is starting to wind down! Swimming has ended for the most part and soccer doesn't start up for another couple of weeks (though Jake is at soccer camp all this week).

Just a few videos from the swim champs this past weekend... Tim won the back and finished 3rd in the fly. He wasn't expected to do as well in the backstroke, but edged out a win from all the way out in lane 1!

Totally unrelated to the cruise; however, he will save your butt if you happen to be drowning at CC or something!!

Hi Sherri!! We'll be at Niagara Falls on August 13-16. We're planning on the Maid of the Mist (boat) tour at the foot of the Falls but other than that, haven't scheduled anything. I'm going to wander to the NYS Travel Office at lunchtime today. Let me know if you have any good restaurant recommendations.

I wondered why this thread hasn't popped up under my USER CP in a while....we got a whole new thread going!!!

A lot has changed for us with regards to this cruise! Our friends have decided not to cruise with us and after having that conversation, DH & I decided to move up our sailing and do a back to back in May instead.

So, alas, we will not meet you all in August 2011, but with a little pixie dust and Mickey magic, we will meet someday!!

I hope you have a fabulous cruise and lots of great memories!!!
