August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 2

Hello all!

We are still around, just in the craziness of summer. I always thought that summer was supposed to be calm, but not-so-much! Katie has been in a Harry Potter Girl Scout day camp this week and we have to be out of the house early to make the bus! She is having a blast though, so that is a good thing. Next week is music camp, then the week after that is Katie's first overnight camp. It is another Girl Scout camp, but it is overnight. Only three nights, but still. I've seen my girl every day for her eight years of life. She is excited about camp, but Mom is having separation anxiety.

Anyway, we are so excited to almost be at the one year mark. Katie still doesn't know and I can't decide whether to tell her next June on her birthday, or surprise her with the trip on the way. Both have an appeal! My son is too little to understand or care so I don't think that he would care either way. Right now, our problem is that our trip keeps growing. We realized that since they are likely to do Free Dining again next year, it might be better to visit Disney AFTER the trip since it would be after the 15th of August, then we'd need to stay longer and now it is all snowballing!

Sounds, like Katie is having a GREAT summer so far. I just love summer vacation as I know all the kids do!!

Tell Katie to enjoy the overnight camp!!

Jake - NFL Flag Football games M & F @ 6PM; Speed & agility training (soccer) on W @ 6PM; and swimming on Sat @ 9AM. He also attended a NASA science camp every day this week starting at 8AM.

Keira - swimming on Sat @ 9AM; gymnastics - M,W, F @ 9AM.

Throw in Tim's birthday today and we have friend who arrived today from England to stay with us for a week....

I need a vacation from their summer vacation.

It was brutal again here today & tomorrow is looking equally as hot & humid. And we'll be out running all around - yuck!

This is where I get to gloat! The only times I've had to leave the house in this heat were to go to the beach, the lake, or the pool. I have no concept of how hot and nasty it has been so far this summer! That's all going to change come August when I have to start coaching my daughters cheer squad outside. I'm hopeing it will be nice and cool by the end of August!

Well 2 weeks to go before we do this year's 5 night cruise, followed by a couple nights at BLT, but admittedly it is the Wonder, and not the Dream...We are hoping the Dream turns out to be as good as advertised..

What do you think it would take to get a job with DCL if they came to NYC? I would gladly drive down 1 or 2 days a week to check in cruisers. That would be the closest I can get to working for cruise line with 2 kids living in New England. My "Dream" job

Gotta love the rumors!! It would be nice to have the home port in NYC though. It would eliminate virtually all of our travel costs to the port (selfish of me, eh?!? ). Bermuda and/or Canada cruises aren't on the top of my wish list though.

That would be such a dream job. Last year we were talking to a CM who was working the gate right before you entered the terminal and she said that is what she does she drives to PC she lives a few hours away and she checks passengers in and she loves her job......I would love doing that........

How is everyone doin'?!

We went back to Hershey Park yesterday (using the rainchecks from a couple of weeks ago). This was a day trip only - out the door at 7:30AM and back home at 11:30PM. We're like the living dead around here today!

Morning Everyone! Sounds like you guys all had a lot going on while I was gone.

Our family just got back from a trip to South Dakota - we visited the Badlands and the Black Hills. We went hiking, saw Mt. Rushmore, drove some of the scenic routes and toured the area and visited a ranch where we road horses and had a chuck wagon dinner. It was a great trip and pretty cheap since we drove out there and then camped. Kristin and Jude were able to follow along with our trip as I tried to post day by day about our trip on Facebook!

We are looking forward to August 16th in a couple of weeks. . .we will be having a Disney night at our house to celebrate the fact that it will only be one year to the cruise!

I was thinking of doing a Disney Night too on the 16th...Too funny.. Been working on FE ideas too this summer.......

It is FRIDAY.

My company is going on a two week shut down. I have to work the first 3 days but that is it. It is good and bad. First week is forced vacation and second is furlough - but it is still out of here. I will be working from home at least.

We go up to the lake (Lake Ontario) for the second week of my shut down. My MIL has a cottage there.

I cannot believe we are almost at the 1 year mark. I really need to start thinking and working on FE's.

Jen - are we doing the laynards? If so, count us in for 4. If you need help let me know. Also have not told my DD - 14 about the spa yet. I think I am trying to avoid that.

Enjoy, your time at the cottage......Sounds, like FUN..

Jen and I were discussing how we are almost at the one year mark. She is planning a Disney Cruise Night for her family on the 16th. We have decided to do a DCL night here on the 16th as well. Anyone, else want to join in on the one year DCL Cruise Night. Jen and I were thinking it would be fun for any other families to celebrate the one year mark and take pictures of their celebrations....then we can post them.......for everyone to see.........
