August 13, 2005

I have an appointment for DS with the orthodontist on 6/24 so he will probably have his braces by the time we cruise (I'm reallllly not looking forward to this!). He's not very big on pain. They finish up school on the 23rd but the last 3 days are 1/2 days. They were let out at 12:30 yesterday because of the heat here. I hope they can get a full day in today.

My screen name came from a John Denver song "Starwood in Aspen". Everyone here thinks it's from the Starwood Hotels but the song came first.

We will be at the CC reception but not for long because we have 6:00 dinner.

Alohatee - what a great list. I'm going to have to print it out and carry it with me.

Hi Camcolt the dolphin thing is the swim My dd is going to that and we are going to just watch. ds is afraid of water in his face unless it is on his terms, in the pool he will dunk himself but thats about it. Hubby and I figured we would sit with him so he didn't feel left out. Maybe next time we will swim.

Is anyone else getting worried reading all these posts about how cold it is the first day out and how rough the seas are?

Oh, I just read your DD is 14, LOL! I guess shes not doing the kids dolphin thing. ;)

I hadnt read that about the cold and seas. Yikes! Do you think it will still be cold in August, or does it warm up by then? I'm so clueless about that area. The furthest west Ive been is Rochester NY, so obviuosly, I'm lost.

Actually usually when I've been to CA I've been cold (except for a few years ago we went right after Christmas and it was 80 degrees and we were having a blizzard here - I was very happy there then!). I really hope it is warmer in August. We did go in July about 2 years ago and it was warm in DL so maybe there's hope.

I'm going to make sure to bring all of my seasick meds (I just ordered 3 bottles of ginger capsules which I think I'll take before the cruise starts).

I copied the average temp. in the ports of call for Mexico below. Hope this helps. We went to Disney Land a few years ago in Aug. it was nice low humidity and slightly cooler nights but nothing we needed a jacket for.

i'm not really worried. by the time august rolls around...it should be warm! i'm usually in tanks & shorts in the summer! it gets quite hot here! but by the beach, it would be nice! i'm planning on packing a light jacket, cuz it might be a bit windy/breezy by the ocean...that's all! and rest are mostly tanks/shirts & shorts. that's just off the top of my head thinking! can let you know as it gets closer how the weather here is...but of course, mexico would be different...who knows!

Katie...thanx for the "heads up" on the cc reception. good to know! and i'm glad that Colton's surgery went well, and he's back to himself! and the follow up appointment went well, i presume!!

Nancy...we have early seating too!

Becky...thanx for the info on weather in mexico!

did you notice that i'm trying to put real names in...and not use "code names"?? getting myself used to real names...now that we know/have them!

will chat with you all next time!

Susie

LOL, Susie. Good idea. It may get us used to each other.

Thanks for the info, Becky. 90s are good. :)

Oh can anyone else not believe HOW close we really are?

We booked our PSs for DL yesterday! It's really seeming real now.

I'm not worried at all about the weather :sunny: I think it's going to be
very warm in mexico and were all going to be looking for shade :)
I'm bringing one pair of pants and everything else will be dresses/skirts and shorts.

When the list gets updated my dh name is Carl. No need to update now. We'll wait til more friends join our thread.

I'm going shopping for our formal wear tomorrow. Wish me luck in finding something.

I had a dream my dd got the chicken pox and we had to re-schedule the cruise :( Has anyone else had any nightmares

no nightmares yet! My kids finished their dance showcase tonight it was great! They were all beautiful well except my one boy he was handsome hehhehahha. I am glad that is over!!!!
I now have to start planing for the 3 kids that are going to camp and getting all the things they need and then I will have all this time to be thinking about the cruise.
I will just become more intense on what to pack and do I have this and that etc. I am pretty much packed I just need to pack DD formal and DS dress pants shirt and tie and hubbys suit and I just have a nice pants outfit ( this will be last min. packed stuff). I am in no way a dress let alone a dressy person. I have looked for something nice, who knows if I see the right thing I might just get it. I shattered my knee a few years back and I wear shorts year round anything touching my knee bothers me.
I have my count down clock going and everyday I say __ __ days until vacation. It's almst here YIPEEEEEEEEE. :wave2:

No nightmares lately. I did have one quite a while ago (at least 6 months). The usual one is that I forget all of my seasick meds and the seas are extremely rough. Judging from some other posts I may actually need them the first and last day out. I think I'll pack them today just in case :).

No nightmares yet...I'm sure they will start soon.

Can you believe 2 months from now it will be all over with and we will be getting off the ship??? :earseek: This is going to be here soooo fast now!

I still havent told the kids about the baseball game, but everytime they(mostly Cam) watches a game it kills me not to say anything. I've almost slipped a few times. Cam was looking at the schedule and pointed out the games that will be played while we are on vacation.

After over a year of planning it can't be over that quickly. I've been reading the thread on door signs and I'm thinking of making a few (along with T-shirts for the kids to get autographed).

Nancy...may i ask, what exactly are the door signs for?

i'm thinking of something where the kids can get autographs...aside from t-shirts, what do you guys think i should do? we've done the t-shirts. our DSs love wearing them! and while on the subject, we used sharpies (black ones), but they seem to "fade" with wash!!??!! any suggestions on other markers? maybe you've used something else, and i'm not aware of other products? thanx!

we're going to downtown disney on thursday! a friend's daughter's b-day thing! haven't set foot in dl yet, since the 50th celebration thing. dh said maybe we can go on friday! yippeee!! will let you all know, if the plans go through...

i'm starting to "mentally" pack! :flower:

Susie,

You print them on magnetic paper or put magnetic strips on the back and use them as door decorations (inside or out I guess). I'm planning a trip to Staples to see what kind of permanent markers they have and maybe pick up a few different colors. Maybe you could get baseball hats and let the characters sign them. We have a craft store that sells plain white carpenter type hats.

baseball caps are a good idea! thanx! just trying to think of something "different"! any other ideas, send them this way!

bye!

Hello, Everyone:
My family and I were fortunate enough to be on the May Repo cruise and had so much fun. While onboard, DH booked two of my kids and myself for this cruise, since I really wanted more time to experience the Mexican ports! This time I encouraged my dad to come with us. Sooo, I am looking forward to cruising again! Since I've been to the San Pedro port as well as Cabo and Mazatlan, feel free to ask me any questions. I don't know if I can help you with the answers, since my experiences are limited to the excursions I took. Oh, DD is 16, DS is 12. I can tell you that the menus on the Repo cruise were never repeated, and the food was excellent. The shows were also never repeated, and aside from the LE pin fiasco and disembarkation fiasco, everything was wonderful. You are going to have so much fun. Don't worry about the weather - we were HOT in Mazatlan and warm in Cabo. Even the "cold" day at sea was not cold for someone from Pennsylvania! :goodvibes

wow, 2 cruises in a span of 2 months or so. pretty cool! welcome! whcih excursions did you do at cabo & mazatlan? :flower:

Welcome, Phyllis!
Glad you enjoyed the first cruise so much that you are doing another. See you soon!

Welcome hmrgang glad to read you will be joining us. :)
Wow 2 cruises maybe we will booked the Aug repo :rotfl:
When did you make your reservations for the 08-13-05 cruise?
Were there a lot of people who participated in dressing up for pirate night?
I am trying to decide if I want to get the family dressed up for that.
Did you see any men with tux's for the Formal night?
