August 12, 2012 5 day Canada from NY

the Magic, and a Carnival ship are both in port right now in Nova Scotia.....love this 24 hour webcams!

Sari I also have a 5 year old son - looking forward to them meeting at the meet and greet the first day in NYC and maybe they can hang out at the Oceaneer Club....

So excited that you have a 5 year old boy. I'm definitely going to need to start to get organized and write down all the info or I'll never remember it or find my way to anything.

Welcome everyone! Sari, keep reading on these boards and you will know more than your Brother and SIL in no time! Considering the ages of your boys I would say you really want to be prepared for Pirate night. Most kids really enjoy getting dressed up for it so I suggest packing them each a pirate costume :) Also if you are hoping for your boys to spend some time in the kids club I highly recommend putting in some time right on the first day of the cruise. They have family time and open house type sessions up until the early evening on the day we get on the ship. Take them to those, you have to stay with them but they get comfortable in the space and they meet the councilers and usually a friend or two, it makes them want to go back!

Dressed up for pirate night - aaaaahhhhhhh! I wonder if I can possibly get them to fit into their costumes that I made for the MNSSHP that we went to last October. I'm think it's not likely it will work and the Cubby costume for my 3 year old was red pajama shorts that I put an orange felt patch on and I'm thinking it will be too cold at night for him to wear shorts.

Oh no, another thing to try and prep for and we leave a month from today.

I have to say though, if I can pull it off and come up with something they would love it. They are always wearing pirate hats and using a hook or a sword and running around the house. My 3 year old will sit in his pirate hat to watch TV so I know they are going to love pirate night.

Thanks for the info because I wouldn't have brought anything!

My little guy is 5 too! Uh oh, we're rapidly forming a gang here ;)

Hi there. I don't know if everyone that is taking part in our group FE is on facebook and a part of that group.

I've gotten information from some people, but not even close to everyone so I figured I'd also post here to maybe get others that won't see it on there.

If you could send me a list of the people in your group and tell me their top 3 favorite Disney characters I would really appreciate it.

My e-mail address is sari8970@optonline.net

Thanks so much!

Sari

I was excited that someone suggested that I check out this Thread. I will be with my DH, DS 10, DS 7, and DD 3. My crew has never cruised before. I will also be with my parents. This will be there third Disney cruise.

I asked to join the FB group and I hope that I get added. :)

Any tips would be helpful. I have seen that I have to get on the door decorations.

Look forward to seeing you in a month. :)

Mt DS7 will love to meet up with yours! We received our docs yesterday, too. So excited! But first, we are going on the 2-night TODAY! Yippee!

That was me that suggested you come check out our wonderful group :wave2:

What is FE???

FE stands for Fish Extenders, there are little metal fish just outside your stateroom door that are supposed to be used for crew members to leave little notes (like updates to excursions and such). People here on these boards though make cute little pouch hanger things that hang on their fish (thus the name fish extender or FE) People who are going on a cruise together join up and exchange stateroom info and then when onboard exchange little gifts that are left inside the FE and you find your little surprise when you check your pouch. Unfortunatley since people need to plan ahead for their little gifts a cutoff date has to be set and we have passed that date. so I can't invite you to join.

When you get on with our facebook group you will find it is very active and you will "meet" lots of people you will be cruising with. We are having a very short get together once onboard on the embarkation day at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge. The muster drill starts organizing at 3:30 so it is a very short get together but long enough to put faces to names. You don't have to tell anyone if you are coming or not, you just drop by :goodvibes

It's our first Disney Cruise also. My kids don't know yet.

We are also going with my parents. My brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew are also going. I have 2 boys, ages 5 and 3.

I'm so excited that it's less than a month away!

Looking forward to meeting you.

We will just have to wait to do the FE until next time. I'm learning so much form this as well as on Facebook. I can't wait.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

I hope you have a great weekend.

I told my DS about your DS and he can't wait to meet him. My sons name is Jonah. What is your sons name?

So how exactly would one join the Facebook group? When I click the link it takes me to a Facebook log in - when I do it's just a regular page I do not see the group.

DD is 14 and has expressed some interest in communicating with similar aged. This is the first time we are Cruising just our family of 4- we have been before with friends and family but this will be her first only solo teenage.

DD6 is like the Mayor and I'm sure will make friends pretty easily. Her sister is not as outgoing it would be nice for her to get to "know" some kids before we are there.

Thanks for any advice

Jim

Thanks! His name is Kenny, and I"m sure that he will love to meet Jonah. We just got home a few hours ago (a bit of an annoyance, as our car service never showed at the terminal, so we grabbed a taxi to Penn Station, a train to Port Jeff, and a total-rip-off-of-a-horrible-taxi-service home). So sad to leave the Magic, but so happy that we have less than one month to re-embark! We even got a sneak peek at our cabin, which was an extra treat. I'll consider a Trip Report, this having been our first DCL, yet having sailed RCL fairly recently (Explorer '09 and Oasis '11). My DS ***much*** preferred DCL, despite not availing himself of the Lab/Club that much. (Oh, he WILL, in August! -- I plan to go to the gym every day, and Palo for brunch/dinner, and the Cove Cafe) Cheers! Denise
