August 12, 2012 5 day Canada from NY

Hi all - less than 3 weeks away....can you believe it! Finishing up all my FE gifts and having lots of fun doing it. Getting all our Disney t-shirts washed and organized along with my "Tinkerbell Gifts" for the kids. We started this years ago in Disney World - works like the Tooth Fairy. Great way to surprise the kids with little treats each morning....also a great way to cut down on the number of souvenier requests.

Hope you all are having good luck packing, etc! Is there anything special or useful people are bringing?

Kristina

Hi Kristina,

I wouldn't go on another cruise without an over the door clear shoe holder. I put all my bathroom items, sun block, pens, etc in the pockets to keep everything organized and clutter out of the bathroom. I actually put everything in the pockets at home & roll it up. Then when I get on the ship it's easy to unroll and hang up. It works really well for us.;)

Is it too late for me to join in? My family is also on the Aug 12 cruise to Canada--me, husband, daughter (age 5), son (age 3), and my in-laws. We're very excited! This is our first Disney cruise! Thank you all for the info. Very helpful for the self-proclaimed control freak that I am.

Oh, and we're coming from RI

Count me in!

I'll be on the cruise with my wife, daughter (10), son (7), and daughter (15 months) and my in-laws. So far, the cruise (we think) remains a surprise for my kids. They've had hunches before, and some adults have spilled the beans at times, but this week I made fake Delta flight tickets to Halifax and left them on the table for the kids to find. I hope they bought it.

Anyway, my daughter is performing in a show right before the cruise. The theater company was nice enough to move the time of the show from 2 pm to noon to allow her to perform, and then we mad dash to the ship. (we'll be coming from Riverdale, so it should be a 15-20 minute cab ride) I hope to video their faces when we pull up to the Magic, and I pray there remains some shock.

As the proud Dad, I'm sharing my daughter's performance in "Once Upon a Mattress." So, on embarkation day, if you see a 10 year old with WAAAY too much makeup on, just know that it may be because she just stepped off the stage!

My wife is being a real sport. She is not of the Disney fans, and she's going along with this. I plan on sending her to the spa at least once.

I sent a request to the FB page.

Great story (and great effort...falsifying airline docs - you're good :thumbsup2 )!

Should be an exciting day for all, but especially momentous for your daughter! That's going to be one special video!

Thanks for the video! Your daughter seems very talented! My DS7 will be glad to meet your 7 year-old boy! Finished packing (for the most part) last night, and counting the days.....

:)
I hope that there are surprised when you arrive at the pier!! I wish I could have surprised my kids, but I am so over-board :yay: when it comes to planning that I could never pull it off!! My dining room table is covered in magnets that I have made and had DISigned on these boards, add the pirate t-shirts that we are painting tonight and the transfer images for our hoodies and you can see how I would never be able to pull of something like you are :)

I hope you get to pull off the surprise. It will be a great moment for your daughter. :yay:

I tried to hold out as long as I could with my DS (11). We told him for his birthday in February. He said that he had a clue anyway because of something he saw in my email when I left my inbox open -- kids today!

My boys still don't know. I was almost busted the other day because I have luggage all over our basement and my 5 year old went downstairs. He asked why it was there and I said because I needed it to store stuff and then I told him to get back upstairs. My 3 year old was asking to play downstairs today and we told him no because it's a mess. He told us to go clean it up - lol.

They'll find out tomorrow night when Mickey and Goofy call :)

I still have so much to do. My kids sweatshirts aren't done (they are being washed right now) and none of our t-shirts are done. I don't even have a shirt for my dad yet because I only found him a black one, but the image has way too much black on it for me to be able to use it. I'm going to see if I can find him a grey one without a pocket (the one I found has a pocket and I didn't realize it until I was pulling the tags off).

I also need to figure out how to use my new camera. So, if anyone has the Nikon D3100 please send me some assistance as to how you can take such quick photos one right after each other. I can't do that with my point and shoot which is why I wanted an SLR.

I can't wait to meet everyone!

Custom Cruise Lanyards have been a long time tradition aboard the Disney ships and we are carrying the tradition forward to this NY Cruise to Canada!!

I just wanted to say thank you to you & the other lanyard fairies! The lanyards were incredible and we were so excited to get them. Thanks for a fun memory!

I agree - the lanyards were great - especially the personalized cards that went with them. Thank you.

Also a big Thank You for all of the FE gifts - everybody is so talented and clever!

-'till we meet again!
