August 12, 2012 5 day Canada from NY

Greetings all,

we are gearing up for sailing, Does anyone have a 10 1/2 y/o (or so) daughter that would like to make a new friend with our daughter? We would love to have our DD pen pal it with someone prior to the sailing and then get a change to met up and hopefully hang out with.

Our dd is going into 5th grade. She loves art (wants to do animation academy when offered onthe ship), studies ballet, and swims. She wants to do a bunch of other activities on the ship too, but keeps telling me she is afraid she is going to be lonely.

SOOOOO, if anyone else is having these same conversations with their daughter please pm me and lets have our girls chat prior to sailing!!!!!!

Thanks
Heidi

Okay, for FE peeps, I am thinking of a soft deadline of 6/23 (I know not everyone has stateroom #'s.... just thinking of this date for a count so people can start on specific gifts). I say 'soft' deadline in case someone finds our group last minute - I hate to say no to sharing the fun! I will also post the same on DIS. So far there are only 7 families. Between a pretty small group and no flights I think we'll have fun with gifting (I already have fun homemade ideas!) If anyone else in interested please let me know. Once we have a final list I will PM anyone who is not on FB. Sound good??

We just booked - can we still do the FE?
Me, husband, daughter (10) and son (8) - no stateroom number yet.
Thanks!

Custom Cruise Lanyards have been a long time tradition aboard the Disney ships and we are carrying the tradition forward to this NY Cruise to Canada!!

If you are interested in a special Lanyard customized to this Disney Magic Sailing from New York to Canada please click the link to the google doc and add the requested information to the bottom of the list.

August 12, 2012 NYC to Canada Lanyard List

If you would like to join in making the magic and be a part of the "Lanyard Team" send an e-mail to lanyard.pawk@gmail.com

Supply of Lanyards is limited and available on a first come first serve basis til they run out! In any event August 1st will be the cut-off to add your name to the Lanyard List to allow ample time to prepare the lanyards.

I've honestly not heard about anyone doing this before. Maybe my last cruises were all duds?!! So what are the lanyards like, and do we pay for them, and when would we get them. I need a few more details, Thanks!

Hello everyone.
I found this thread today.

I am on this cruise with my family from Tokyo.

We can't wait!

Absolutely, just message me names, any allergies, and where from. I will add you.

If you are on FB please join our group as well. If not, I will message you the final list next week!

Update for the FE, we are at 16 (soon to be 17) families so far and are thinking of a July 10th cutoff to make the final list. If anyone else is interested in joining, please message me!

I was just adding the names of the people in our group to the list, but I'm not sure how I save it or what I need to do. Also, is the room number for the lanyard or do you just need it. I have to look up my room number, but I needed to know to find out if I should just put my number in all the names I listed or if I need to ask my parents and my brother what their room numbers are. Lastly, since this is our first Disney Cruise and I am completely clueless about this stuff, do I put Nanny and Poppy for my parents or do I use their names?

Thanks so much!

I am so excited.

Have to go eat dinner since it's at the table, but I'll write to everyone else about our info. I just found this thread.

We are also on this Cruise. We also booked it the day it opened to people who haven't sailed with them before. So, obviously it will be our first Disney Cruise. DH and I went on a Carnival Cruise before we had kids (I was pregnant with our first) and it was awful. The food, the people, the activities (or than our shore excursion of kayaking and snorkeling), etc. It took a lot to convince him to do this one, but when they came out with it sailing from NY and we wouldn't have to pay for airline tickets it helped in the convincing. We've gone to Disney World every year since our oldest was 1 1/2 and I was pregnant with our second. We skipped it this year because of the cost of the Cruise. My kids have no idea and they won't know until the day we are leaving. We've done it that way every year and it's for the best because I cannot handle them waking up at 5:30 am every day asking if we are leaving today.

We are also traveling with my parents and my brother and his family. My family is myself, DH, DS (age 5) and DS (age 3). My brother's family is him, DSIL, DNiece (age 11, but will be 12 in October) and DNephew (same as niece since they are twins ;)). And then my parents.

We are clueless since it's our first Disney Cruise, but I am super excited. If my kids go into the kids area I am sure DH will be much more excited :rotfl:

Any advice or info would be fantastic :wave2:

Looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone.

Sari

Hello; I have tried several times to add myself to the lanyard list, but keep getting an error message that the browser window is too small, even when I re-size. The spreadsheet is too large for me to see any fields to enter. I have also sent an email, but have not gotten any confirmation? Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks! Denise

Hello everyone! I am Jenn and will be travelling with my BF Mike (we are both 40yrs old). He has never done a cruise before, and my cruise experience is from other lines. WE both LOVE everything Disney and are really looking forward to this trip.
WE did things differently by joining the FB group first, and now posting here......lol
Oh, and we already signed up for the FE group:teleport:

Welcome everyone! Sari, keep reading on these boards and you will know more than your Brother and SIL in no time! Considering the ages of your boys I would say you really want to be prepared for Pirate night. Most kids really enjoy getting dressed up for it so I suggest packing them each a pirate costume :) Also if you are hoping for your boys to spend some time in the kids club I highly recommend putting in some time right on the first day of the cruise. They have family time and open house type sessions up until the early evening on the day we get on the ship. Take them to those, you have to stay with them but they get comfortable in the space and they meet the councilers and usually a friend or two, it makes them want to go back!

HMAG - just saw your post - sent you a private message. I also have a 10 1/2 year old daughter with similar interests who would love to get to know your daughter before the cruise.

Post back and let me know how you would like to set something up....

Kristina

Sari I also have a 5 year old son - looking forward to them meeting at the meet and greet the first day in NYC and maybe they can hang out at the Oceaneer Club....
