August 12, 2012 5 day Canada from NY

I hate to tell you but rates have gone up a lot. I don't have my invoice nearby but I booked opening day with the 10% on board booking discount and for 1 adult and 2 kids in 11b no insurance or tranfers was less than $2500 .

Found the invoice it was 2414.

Ok. Officially switched the 2 nighter to this cruise. Its a surprise for my daughter's sweet sixteen. I am going to tell her when we get to the port :thumbsup2

Had to take late seating which I hate. Hoping to be able to change it the minute we get on the ship. I love the Magic!! Also booked a sideways inside which I have always wanted to try.

We are going on NCL to Bermuda in July.

Does anyone know if you can reserve a spot in the kids clubs before the sailing? Also, can you change once you're on board? By that I mean that my DD (11 yrs) doesn't know if she wants to go to the Edge alone or to the Oceaneer Club with her cousins. Also, what's the difference between the Oceaneer Club & the Oceaneer Lab? Are they completely different clubs? Do they both cater to the same age group?

Hi everyone - just found this thread. We are on the August 12th cruise. It is me, DH, DD10, DS5, DSIL, and DSIL's boyfriend. We are on Deck 2 (aft, outside cabin) and DSIL and boyfriend are on Deck 6 (forward, inside cabin). We are from Granby, CT and DSIL/boyfriend are from West Greenwich, RI. It is our 2nd Disney cruise and their first. We were on the Dream in August during the hurricane - it was a great cruise, but we never got to go to Castaway Cay.

So, would love to hear about the Magic - anything and everything. Also, I just learned from a friend about Fish Extenders. I think we would definitely be interested.

Thanks and looking forward to meeting you all, Kristina

So, I guess there never really was any determination one way or another on the whole FE issue. My son has a blast delivering our items so we would definitely be interested...anyone else?

Anyone considering doing a guided tour in St John? After a bit of research I am hearing that the tours that Roy Flowers offers are exceptional and I am going to book one. They are for up to 6 people and the price is the same for 1 person or 6. Wondering if anyone is interested in sharing the tour? It's myself and my husband, I'm thinking of leaving the kids (DD's 10 and 7) on board so could share with a party of 1-4. They charge $50/hr (total not per person) and the tour is usually 5-6 hours. So if we are 4 people we are looking at about $75 per person. If I take my kids or if we get 4 more adults we would be looking at about $50 per person. An absolute steal even for $75/pp If you google him you should be able to find the info. Gets great reviews on tripadvisor and cruisecritic. I'm doing the tour even if it's just my family!

definitely interested!! I PM'ed you!

Okay I have been in touch with MartDM.. I have offered to be the creator/keeper of the FE list for anyone interseted (I will post on FB as well - ONE list though). I kept the list for my April cruise and it turned otu pretty well and so much fun! I still haven't gone through most of the gifts and will likely donate some of the small toys/duplicates to DD's teacher for their prize drawer. Overall it was awesome!!! For now, for anyone interested please PM me your parties names/ages, Disboard name, stateroom #, and any allergies. We can go from there with deciding on a final cutoff date. I will keep the list on a spreadsheet and create a document on FB (and copy it via PM for anyone not on FB) after the cutoff date (mid to late June maybe?)

Hi
Our family is sailing on this cruise as well. We have been booked since the first day they were taking reservations, and I haven't been on the boards for quite some time. Now that it is getting close I am playing catch up :)
Aside from me and my husband, we will be sailing with our 3 daughters (26, 13 and 11).
Looking forward to getting aquainted with the other passengers before the cruise and would like to participate in the FE group too. And I also requested to be added to the FB group on FB.

Michele

Oh! I didn't know there was a FB group. Would love to be added!

I have been looking up the typical weather for our itinerary and not sure how I feel about it. Does anyone have any real experience with the weather in Canada for August. My oldest is going to kill me if it's not hot hot.

I have been to Saint John in August before and it was nice, maybe mid 70's but not hot, but you never know.

I am planning on packing layers and rain gear, with shorts for New York.

I don't think Canada ever really gets hot hot. The average high temp for Halifax in Aug is only 75 degrees. (based on data from wunderground.com)

I have canceled this trip. I so wanted to be on the Magic again but not in the cards this summer. We booked a RCL to Bermuda as we wanted a more tropical experience.

We are booked on the Magic Med for next summer.

Have a wonderful magical trip!!!

Hi. We'll be sailing with you. Myself, DH, DD(13), DS (9). This will be our 8th Disney cruise, been on the Magic, Wonder and Dream. Looking forward to a wonderful cruise.:cool1::cool1:

Hi all - how do I get access to the FB page? I have scrolled through this thread, but not sure who I should PM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is our 2nd Disney cruise and first on the Magic. We didn't know about the FE stuff, but a friend of mine is going on the Fantasy next week and filled me in a little. Would love to do it, just wanted a little more info. How does it all work?

It will be me, DH, DD10, DS5, DSIL, and DSIL's boyfriend. We will be in Deck 2, Aft, outside cabin (blanking on the cabin number right now). DSIL and DSIL boyfriend are inside cabin, forward, Deck 6.

So excited!!!

Kristina
