August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

Hi everyone! Getting more and more excited about the Dream! We check every day to see if we have a cabin yet - we are still gty status!!! (This is for our March cruise...) We picked connecting cabins for the August one that we are all going to be on together to make sure we were connected with the kids (we figured that would be a good idea! :rolleyes1)

Are any of you interested in a meet and greet when we get on board? We did one when we went on the Wonder....(we met in one of the clubs for a bit on the first afternoon we got on board.) It was a great way for people to introduce themselves, and we thought it was especially wonderful for the kids to meet each other because it gave them a familiar face to associate with in the clubs or in the pools. (A few of the kids from the meet and greet actually wound up hanging out together the whole cruise...) I noticed that many of us have kids around the same age.

Rae - I threw my FE away on our last day. I'm very sewing unsavvy! I made a mermaid tail out of very stiff interfacing. I covered it with iridescent blueish green fabric. Then I glued different size blue and green sequins all over it. I attached very small battery powered twinkle lights to the top as well. It was a hoot. I didn't sew a thing - just good old tacky fabric glue. I threw it away because sequins started falling off and I didn't want to deal with the mess. When my DS gets up I will ask him to post a picture. I'm also very computer illeterate when it comes to posting pics!:upsidedow
We had friends that just used a plastic grocery bag with a picture of Mickey on it. I also saw quite a few canvas bags that you buy at a craft store that were decorated. Some folks had their kids decorate them with fabric paint. I thought it was very nice that the kids were involved.

I was reading more posts about deck 5. It seems the staterooms directly above the dance club are loud and the bass pounding of the music goes on till the wee hours. As far as I can tell 5152, 5154 and 5156 are all over "Pink". Hopefully all we'll hear is popping corks and bubbles!:)

. When is your 40th birthday? Mine is also in March. 25th. Can I come on your cruise? I would love to do a meet and greet. I would love for my son (14) and daughter (11) to meet some friends and actually go to Vibe and Edge.

We did a meet and greet and a grab bag on the Magic in 08. Some one called DCL and reserved a time (if memory serves it was 2 or 2:30) and place. Someone else set up a secure website and she posted pics of everyone and a little bio that we all submitted. That way we were able to identify each other. Our DS was able to email other kids his age (16) before we sailed. He connected with them at the meet and greet and they spent the entire cruise together. He still keeps in touch with a few of the boys.

Had we known in advance all of us Yinzers could have had a big Stiller party today! If anyone in the Yinzer area would like to get together for a "How do you do drink n'at" perhaps we could arrange it! I'm in the South Hills and work on the South Side but I travel well!

. I have a friend who has one of those embroidery machines. If I can break away from all of the pre game coverage, I might go to the fabric store and get materials needed. How old are your kids? Trying to get my kids to meet kids on this cruise. Wish I was doing a back to back cruise. But my name is not Daddy Warbucks.:rotfl:

will you come to Cincinnati?:rotfl: and bring a Primanti sandwich with you!

My 40th is actually Feb 19th, but we had to plan the trip around Nick's Spring Break. There was a President's Weekend's cruise, but the days didn't fall right with school. Sure you can come - the more, the merrier!!!

I didn't arrange the meet and greet on the Wonder cruise, but I could try to find when I am on the ship how to book a club or area for us to meet... We may not have to book or be able to (just pick a place to meet) but at least Nick and I can find a good place to meet!

Also, what is a grab bag??? sounds interesting....

Nick said that he could do a secure website on IWeb if anyone is interested in one...

Good luck to all the Yinzers out there today....I know my 12 year old son, Matt, and BIL will be glued to the tv and cheering right along with you!!!

I'm trying to post a photo. Does anyone know how to do this?

Ahhhh, Primantis! A sandwich yet so much more:lmao:

The grab bag - we did this at the meet and greet. It was very informal. Anyone that wanted to participate brought a gift with a $5 limit. We put them into a large bag and anyone that put one in got to pull one out. Some of the gifts I remember were Disney tote bags, Disney playing cards, Disney Beanie Babies - everything had a Disney or cruise theme. The kids got a kick out of it.

My DS will be 18 when we sail. Our DGS will be 3, almost 4.
I am old. :scared1:And I have a Feb. birthday as well - the 15th.

I think a meet and greet on board is a great idea! I don't have any kiddos, but I love meeting new people. To all the Yinzers, I'd be happy to do a pre-cruise meet here too! I live in Moon, and also work down in the South Side, but I can travel if I have good directions! I'd be happy to see if my cruisin buddies would like to join as well....I found out last night that more people booked and we're up to 11!!

Looking forward to a big second half for the Steelers!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

When in the world is Southwest going to post the return trips? I've been looking at it for weeks? Cara, I wish I was in Pgh this weekend for the game, but have to be at work @ 8 am on Monday:sad1: I'd rather be with my steeler fans than with these Bengal fans out here. MAJOR Pgh haters out here. If I have to hear one more time about how the Steelers are a bunch of cheaters, I'm going to choke someone:laughing: why can't you use the same fish extender? I'm not sewing savvy. Rae

Southwest's return flights are finally posted. Looks like around $270 round trip is the going rate right now.

I guess it's time to seriously consider booking flights. It's like a crap shoot getting a good price!

I booked three weeks ago BWI direct to MCO at $218.00 round trip. This price has already gone up by $200 total for four people. I am flying in on 08/11 and leaving 08/20. I just think it is the last week before school starts so the price will only go up getting closer to the end of the week. I think it is a lot of money but I was scared it would continue to go up in this economy!!

I agree!! So what are everyone's plans? Our plans are to arrive one day early and leave 4 days after. We are going to Disney after but have not yet decided on the day before. I have written my congressman asking for free Kennedy Space Center tix and have not yet heard back! Waiting anxiously.....

My youngest daughter is very excited. She says everyday " I want to go to Disney World" which makes it even more exciting.

What are everyone else's plans???

We are also arriving one day early and staying at staying at Comfort Suites. Then after the cruise we are staying for 4 days at Port Orleans Riverside...BUT we are not going into the Disney parks!

I know this might sound very strange...and it is to us too...BUT we got such a great room rate with the room only discount that it was cheaper for us to stay onsite than off, and we love POR! So, we are staying there and going to Sea World and Aquatica, which is where we were planning on going after the cruise anyway!

That sounds really exciting. We love POR also. We can't decide between Wilderness Lodge (Husbands choice) or Pop Century (My Choice) and maybe getting 2 rooms (Still cheaper than 1 room at the Wilderness Lodge).

The new ship looks beautiful, can't wait, already booked for 2012 August, too!

Hi everyone! We are planning to arrive on the Monday before the cruise. We are staying at POFQ. We want to hit EPCOT on Monday, US (Harry Potter) on Tuesday, MK on Wed and Thurs and possibly HS and AK at some point.

Our kids are super excited and we talk about our Disney plans at dinner most nights.

We want to do the Sting Ray Adventure on CC during the cruise - anyone else planning to do that? We aren't planning to get off of the boat in Nassau, but DD might talk me out of that - we'll decide that day, I guess - if we do anything there we'll probably just briefly walk through the straw market for the experience.

Can't believe we are under 6 months!

The stringray adventure looks fun. I will talk to my fam and let you know.

On our last cruise we did the parasailing and my girls loved it!

We never get off the ship in Nassau! We have such a great time with a few less people on the ship. We talk Disney all the time too. Have you made your customized maps to the disney parks? They look pretty and my daughter has fun playing on the website.

We are so excited too!!

We are arriving Monday before the cruise and staying somewhere at WDW. It's a toss up between Pop Century and POFQ. DS wants to stay at Boardwalk or the Contemporary. DS thinks we are millionaires!:lmao:

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for 5 days at POP. I can't wait! This has been such a long dreary winter and I need to see sunshine. A coworker asked if I wanted to go with her and the price was right so I said yes.

We did the stingray swim on CC. It's a lot of fun and I recommend it. We'll probably just walk around the straw market at Nassau as well. We did that on our Wonder cruise and then went to Hard Rock for a drink. We were back on board early afternoon.

I think I'm going to book our flights soon. The price of gas keeps going up and I'm afraid to wait too much longer.
