August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

We also were going to book the aug 16th trip because it is our anniversary, also. Small world. So we'll be getting off the ship on our anniversary. My kids and I are originally from Pittsburgh, but now live in Cincinnati. This will be our 5th disney cruise. We are going to take a royal carribean this nov. and I told my 13 yr old that he may enjoy it more than disney and he said "not possible, mom. Rae

Hi Pittsburghgirl! Philly here!!! Our anniversary is the 16th as well!!! Welcome....

Where in Pittsburgh are you from? We are originally from Glenshaw where my brothers and parents still are. My son will be 14 at the time of our cruise and daughter will be 11. Can't wait!!!

We're from the South Hills - (Baldwin Township; stuck in between Castle Shannon and Mt. Lebanon!) GO STILLERS:woohoo: Our son is a huge Penguins fan. We gave up on the Pirates years ago!

This thread has been very quiet but now that we have more joining us maybe we can keep the conversation going!

My DH is also a teacher - learning supports in a high school. He was previously in a grade school and just made the switch to the older kids this year. I think he regrets changing - prefers the little ones!
I work with homeless veterans; assisting them with housing and supportive services.

I had my DH and DS view the video of the AquaDuck over the weekend to try to get them in the spirit. It did begin to generate some discussion about shore excursion activities. DH has to parasail and both want to rent a jet ski on C.C. I would like to visit Atlantis this trip. Any suggestions or advice from those that have explored Nassau? Last time we did the straw market and just walked around town.

I did the Atlantis tour on my 1st Disney Cruise a few years back and enjoyed it. It's a beautiful resort. They gave a tour of the aquarium and gardens area and was also a good way to see the city on the ride to and from. Other than that, I don't really have any recommendations on Nassau. Personally, I will be staying on the ship when at Nassau this time...

Hi Judy

Seems like there's going to be a lot of teachers on this cruise.

We did the trip to Atlantis this August when we were on The Wonder. We had the aquapark included too.
It was a good trip but very expensive but I think it's one of those things that you just have to do. Lunch, use of the water park and a trip to the aquarium were included and there was also a shuttle bus that ran every half hour back to the boat.
I doubt we'll do it again next year. We also hope to make the most of the Dream's facilities.

Hi Everyone,

We just booked this cruise. I am Lori and will be traveling with DH Chris and our kids, DS 9 (CJ) and DD 7 (Kitty). We live in the Dayton, OH area. We are going to tell the kids at Christmas. This is our first cruise. We are planning three nights at Port Orleans French Quarter before the cruise. It will be our 2nd trip to the World.

We can't wait and our kids love to play with new friends!!

Oh and I forgot to mention. DH is from Philly - I know there are other Philly residents on here.

Welcome to the cruise thread Mom2CJ&Kitty! :goodvibes I have twin boys who will be 8 when we go on the cruise. We love cruising - this will be our second DCL cruise. My mom will actually be joining us now for this cruise. She heard us talking about how wonderful the last one was... and she really wanted to come! Hey, who can blame her!

After the cruise, we will probably stay in the area for another 5 days or so before DH and I have to be back for before school meetings. We love Port Orleans Riverside (being a family of 5 it is one of the few places we can stay,) so if Free Dining is offered again, we think that we will do another 5 days there after the cruise. The only difference is that since mom is with us, we will need 2 rooms...that changes things up a bit!

We are from right outside Philly so give a shout out to your DH!

Welcome Mom2CJ&Kitty! Your kids won't know what hit 'em on Christmas morning! You'll like Port Orleans FQ.

Thanks for the welcome. We stayed at FQ about 3 years ago and loved it! So cannot wait to get back.

Can't wait to try out that Aqua Duck! :rolleyes1 I'm really just a big kid!!!

You will get along great with my DH! He complains about the fact that we do Disney every year for vacation and shouldn't we try something else? But as soon as he steps foot in the Magic Kingdom or on one of the ships he's 10 years old! He can't wait to ride the Aqua Duck too!:donald:

I really need to change my banners below!

I would be interested in the FE - my kids would love it - but this being our first cruise, if we did it I would hope to keep the groups smaller - I have seen pictures of members packing boxes of gifts to take!!! But I really think it would be a fun activity.

We just added another day to our land portion pre-cruise - DS is a huge Harry Potter fan so we really couldn't go to Orlando without seeing the Harry Potter attractions at Universal. So excited!

It's been so quiet on here. Maybe more activity after the holidays. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

It's been too quiet!

How many days are you staying prior to the cruise? We had planned on 4 but I'm starting to think maybe just one more also! Haven't decided where tho. DH wants to stay at Pop and I'm thinking French Quarter or Coronado just because we have never stayed at either. Would love to do Animal Kingdom Lodge but I'm not sure we can justify the expense (unless they offer another discount). :)

We are staying M - Th nights at POFQ. So four days pre-cruise. We were only planning to stay 3 until we added the Universal tickets... would love to stay more, but don't think I can talk DH into it! This vacay is becoming high dollar for us!! But we are thrilled and can't wait to tell the kids about it at xmas. I want them to help us with the planning.

I love POFQ - good theming and they are going through refurb right now so the rooms will be like new when we are there! Would love to stay at Animal Kingdom too but can't swing it this time - I think the kids would love it there!

Hope this board gets more traffic soon. Would love to get in on a Fish Extender exchange.

We are doing "something" either before or after the cruise... probably after... I am just waiting for the deals to be announced. Hopefully free dining will be announced like it was last year, and it will start right when we come off - that would work out great... if not, then we might do Universal and Sea World. (We are doing Sea World regardless since my mom is coming and she wants to go there!!!)
