August $0 Buy

I am so happy July is over!!:thumbsup2 Rough month.

Goals: 14 no spend days

8/1: $0

Goals: 15 $0 Buy days
Max spending $500 for gas, food (groceries & eating out), and miscellaneous.

01 - $0! 1

Totals:
$0 Buy: 1/15.............7%
Spending: $0/500.........0%
Days in Month: 1/31......3%

Averages:
$500/31 days= $16.13
$0/1 days= $0.00

I'm going to give this a try. I finally put together a budget for the first time this month, and it is TIGHT, so I have to be very careful! I'll try for:

15 No Buy Days
Grocery & Eating Out Budget: $261.

Thankfully I have a well-stocked freezer & pantry right now, so I think it's do-able.

So...here we go...starting right now:

No Buy Days: 1/31 (8/1).
Grocery, Etc: $0/$261.

Ok, so certainly August hasn't started well, but the massage is my gift to DF (and one for me too. :D)

No Buy Days : 0/10
Gas : (Max 50$)
Groceries : (Max 200$)
Eating out (and snacks) : 15$ (Max 150$)
Non-necessities : 178$ (Max 400$. I know I'm gonna buy some more work clothes, as well as teaching stuff for my new classroom)

8/01 : 193$ (massage for 2 + ice cream)

I am happy to be back for the whole month after missing half of July! I am scaling back my goal since I want to do things (while inexpensive, not free) with the kids before they go back to school. I will try for 10 but won't be too upset if I don't reach it as long as I am good at keeping the costs down.

August 1-$0 :woohoo: Good Start. Can I just share what a great day! We had a mom from my DD11's Girl Scout troop (which I have been the leader of since they were 5) offer to have the girls all over for a picnic and pool party. We just ended being an official troop though still plan on getting together here and there. Anyway, turned out to be a thank you party for me that the moms all organized! They presented me with an amazing scrapbook that they had made as a group one evening (my DH said he was taking DD to dinner, never thought anything of it cause he does that with them one on one often.) It had events all through the last 6 years and the girls wrote things about them and about me. It was so nice. I have been a leader for 11 years for 3 troops with no assistants so it was nice not only to be given such a nice gift but to see that the girls really appreciated it. Anyway, just got home but was smart and put dinner in the crock pot so I didn't have to think about that tonight either.

Budget: $651....8%
Month: 1/31: 3%

My savings from coupons and sales: $2.89

8/1 - $29.12 (Mom's birthday dinner)

I normally disappear around the 10th of the month. But I'll try again.

Tomorrow starts my new work schedule and the kiddo starts a new school. I'll be going into the office just 2 times a week. That right there should cut down on the dollar here, a dollar there issue I have.

My goals for the month are to not visit the vending machines. Also, to cut down our McDonalds habit to just one breakfast a week. And to track every penny spent, no matter how painful it is :)

Today is my Mom's birthday. I'll post our dinner total later.

I want to try again this month because we are paying the car off at the end of this week :cool1:. We also need to replace a weedeater, laptop battery and we have DD's bday this month and license plate fees are due...:guilty:

Anyway, here are are budgeted expenses:

100/wk groc (400/month most months)
80/every other week household (160/month most months)
30/every other week Dh's lunches (60/month most months)
30/every other week lunch/spending DD's and me (60 most months)
60/month eating out
40/month spending money for DH and me (20 apiece)
20/month entertainment

Anyway...spent nothing today, but bought groceries yesterday (right around 100), 25 household, 10 'entertainment'

Last month was awesome! I actually hit 14 out of my goal of 15 last month. This month I am going to try for 10 no buy days. My DD starts school at the end of the month and I have not bought any school clothes. She cannot fit a thing from last year. She also has a birthday this month so it could be a little rough. So here it is....

Goals- 10 no buys
$350 for groceries (only spent 153 last month so my fridge and freezer are BARE!)
$200 for household
$100 for eating out
and just for this month I am gonna give myself $400 for DD school clothes, etc.

8/1- Spent $.61 at CVS and $3.99 for a half gallon of milk for my DS (he drinks soy and CVS was closest but unfortunately the most expensive).

So...
$3.99/350 Groceries
$0.61/ 200 Household
$0/100 Eating out
$0/400 School Clothes

I tried this once before and was horrible at it! LOL!

OK so here goes again. I have been reading a Suze Orman book and I feel guilty about all the money I waste.

I am going to make this realistic for me for my first month and go for 10 no spend days.

As for budget I am just going to start by tracking everything I spend because right now I have no idea what I go through. (Shudder.)

August 1st - $5 Tip to Peapod Driver

Totals
No Buy Days - 0
Misc Spending - $5

I want to try this for the first time too. I will have to go back to the July thread just to remember how it's done. We will start small . . . 10 no buy days and I'll track groceries and eating out (which is where I really need to trim). Goal: groceries $300 and eating out $200

CONGRATS!!!!! on the trip paid in full!!!

and, I will say one of the biggest benefits of these threads was being able to see where my money was going. I would have never imagined how much money I was spending in certain areas until saw it here in black & white.
Really helped to open my eyes - and posting here helps keep me accountable! (thinks to self....if I spend this money, I'm going to have to post it, or ruin my chance for a no spend day!)

Good luck with your goal, and remember, each day is a new chance!!

Alright, I'm going to give it a whirl. I've been lurking and think it's time to join in. July was rough with vacations and b-days so it's time to tighten the belt.

DH and I are going away for his 40th this month. It's an all-inclusive resort so that and the flights are paid for already. I'm going to try to keep the travel extras to a minimum.
