Our final payment is due Aug 13th, we arrive Sept 27th and I have read in a couple locations that there *could* be a deal come out then. Which is a Satuday. First-does Disney put deals up or email on Saturdays. Second- if I have my package paid (which I obviously will) can I switch my current deal to the new one (if it is worth switching for us)?
Thanks!
Either way, can't wait for September!

Deals usually come out on Monday. You would still be able to switch, but would need to pay a change fee.

I was wondering about that too - in previous years Disney has put out deals in mid-August which typically includes the month of October - that doesn't seem fair to someone who books say October 1st and because the discount release date is within their 45 day mark, the only way for that person to take advantage would be to pay the change fee. Shouldn't Disney be thinking about that when they choose when to release the late fall/winter discounts?:confused3

I've never seen Disney release deals on the weekend...it's always some time during the week. I have seen discounts announced on a Monday, Tuesday (this was an exception because Monday was a holiday), Wednesday (some past AP rates/deals), Thursday (typically for Disney Visa card holders) and Friday. Monday and Friday are more often than not used for general public discounts.

Good point. I have to say, we are very lucky with the discount we have now. I have no idea how I got it. Originally we had the kids stay free deal. Then I switched resorts to CSR and I was told there was a special deal, Flex I think she said, that I could snatch. They are a hard discount to get. I figured out the math, and it is pretty much equivalent as us 4 getting QS dining for free. I haven't a clue what this deal means, only that it's a good one. But if free dining plan came out that would save us a little more. I like savings of any sort, but if I have to pay to save a little extra, then it's not really worth it.

Disney's not trying to give discounts to people who are already booked. They're releasing discounts to try to get new reservations.

I can answer the questions.....(I am usually the one asking)

I was told this....if you change your res in the 45 day window there is a $50 change fee, then a $15 transfer fee - so total of $65 fee, BUT if it will save you say $200, it may be worth it.

Last year, free dining was released on August 16, a Monday. I remember because it was my first day of school (I'm a teacher) and I got up super early to book. Had to cancel, so now I'm hoping they do it again.

I'm thinking you're going to have to pay it off before they release, but a girl can dream that they'll put us all out of misery sooner...

I think it may depend on who you talk to and what words you use when you call. We changed our trip once to a later date with a different discount and asked to modify our reservation. The only thing we were charged was the price difference as this trip cost a little bit more. :confused3 And if I remember correctly, it was after the 45 days, and we were paid in full. (Okay, I just looked at my old records. I think it was just before the 45 days. Rats!)

I think I read some where that if you upgrade to a more expensive resort or plan you will not be charged a fee ? Anyone know ?

I think that's right - they only charge you if your new total is less than your old one. They're happy to increase your total for no extra surcharges!

Interesting, so if we upgraded to a water view room that would cost more, but still have a savings...

So I did the math on our package.
Our total is $2872
If Free DP comes out $2555
If Free QS+adding upgrade to DP $2731
So we'd save $141 with free QS and $317 if free DP.

So if I understand correctly, if (free dining) a discount comes out it's in my interest to pay that $65 fee. Since I'd still be saving some money.

Just in case Disney does release a great deal on August 13, as rumored, it might be worth it to NOT pay in full before then.

You can pay by phone any time, right up to midnight of Aug. 13, so it's worth waiting to see if the great deal materializes. Call Disney the morning of August 13 & first check on deals and PIN codes one last time. If there's nothing, so be it, you'll pay and wait to see if a good enough deal comes up later. If there is a deal you can use, make the modification first, then pay the final installment with no change fee.

Fingers crossed it's for real and it's something we can all use!

If this rumor turns out to be true, the discounts are for the next 1/4. Oct. To Dec. The promos for Sept are done.

Modifications within 45 days prior to arrival with a reduction in package price may be subject to a $50 change fee. Any modifications within 14 days prior to arrival are subject to a $15 change fee.

Let's say you're 30 days out. You change from standard to preferred room. Package price goes up, no fee. Same scenario 7 days out, $15 special handling fee.

Again, 30 days out, you go from preferred to standard. Package price goes down, $50 change fee. Same scenario 7 days out, $50 change fee + $15 special handling fee.
