(Aug '11 TR) Park Commando Status in Jeopardy! 10/9 final thoughts and title

What great MK pics! :thumbsup2

Even though it was raining from the pics it seems as if you guys didn't let it dampen your spirits and I love how the girls are enjoying playing in the rain!

It's Disney - how can you NOT have a great time!

Here, Debby!!! :goodvibes

Wow! It really was raining on your MK day, wasn't it?

The rain went away... :goodvibes

Ah! There is nothing like playing in the rain! And at Disney!!! :thumbsup2

Love the Rainy Day Cavalcade - I would show up in the rain just to see that. When else do they cart ALL the characters right down mainstreet in cars so close to you! :lovestruc

It was very cool - I was shocked by the number of characters.

Well all, I apologize for the delay. I actually started an update tonight and was three pictures shy from finishing it when I made a dumb computer move and lost it!

I promise to be back in a day or two. I started back to school (like so many other teachers on the DIS) and it is certainly eating into my time...:teacher: It will be even worse when I have students next week. :scared1: I have some great pictures to share though, so I promise to find time!

Happy Wednesday night to all! :wizard:

Hi! I'm enjoying your trip report so far. Loved the pictures of the rainy day parade--I've never seen that type of parade in all my years visiting Disney. Thanks! Also, your girls are just darling!

Thank you! :goodvibes I am glad you are here-- I hope with the delays (school is really exhausting until my brain gets back in the swing...) you stick around!

Sitting here on the east coast, waiting for Hurricane Irene's rain, what better attraction (other than maybe Splash Mountain) to visit??

The Tiki room was supposed to open on August 15th. I kept looking for hints all week of a soft opening.

On our last day, we were in MK and Memom sent me a message that Brookelizabeth was in MK too at the Tiki Room. I knew time was too limited for a dis meet, but was really excited that the Tiki Room was open! (Just one more reason Memom absolutley ROCKS!)

So join me. Be sure to open another page and open this for the background music... or if you want to have the (older version) of the actual show click here!

Hi, I am going to follow along on your report.
I am also going to go find some of those Brita water bottles today! I would love to have them along on my upcoming trip.
I am looking forward to the Tiki show. I have been to Disney a lot and I have never stopped for this attraction. I am putting it on my list for this year as I am sure I need to experience this classic.
I am really hopeing for sunny days but your rain photos are quite nice.
I'm looking forward to more!

Hurray for the original Tiki Room! :lovestruc

Stay safe today!

We braced for the worst, and lucked out...it might be considered only a tropical storm for us. We only had one point that was a little upseting to my one daughter. We had a tornado warning, so we all hung out in our basement. (It is finished with TV, Wii, etc...so not even the creepy kind.) My daughter is quite analytical:"but what if we have a tornado then the hurricane? What are we going to do?"

My SIL and BIL were visiting from CA, so they stayed over for the hurricane party....

Very lucky that we kept power (not so for many in the area.)

Did you get the Brita bottle? My friends at home started to pick up some. I should get commission. :rotfl: When is your trip? Please stay with me  I've survived the first week of school and should be able to do more dising!

If everything goes according to plans, we will be seeing this on Monday, October 17th. That's our full Magic Kingdom day. :cool1:

Ahhh--the countdown is on. October will be here before we know it.

Anyone up for a little tour of some MK shops?

A little trip in Adventureland (probably a less visited shop...)

i-7CB3g9t-L.jpg

i-cbdBX8z-L.jpg

Pillow Pets? (This was what my daughter decided she would buy. I had to take pic to remember where she saw the one she wanted in case no other shop had it...)

i-HXXH7Nc-L.jpg

i-5hk6gvv-L.jpg

She did find him elsewhere...

Perfect trinkets for little princesses...

Moving to Main Street for a more adult experience...

I just can't figure how to incorporate these fun (and beautiful) pieces into my home...

i-VSV8VSK-L.jpg

Artist at work...I wonder if he has these in his house???

Firstly am glad to hear you are all well after Irene and no major damage was done in your area

Am loving the virtual shopping trip and feel good that I have not spent any money whilst doing it! :lmao: Great pics and can't wait to make some purchases during our trip - can't believe how close it is getting!

Hope school is going well and you enjoy your weekend.

Ahhh--the countdown is on. October will be here before we know it.

It is now officially NEXT MONTH -
and six weeks from today, to be exact! :tigger:

Always! :woohoo:

I think the pink and white Mickey dress (on the rack behind the pillow pets) is cute. I have also seen it in black and gold for adults.

Brooklynn has a Disney charms bracelet, so we have spent much time perusing those charms over many trips. :cutie:

Thanks for starting my morning out in Magic Kingdom! :thumbsup2

Wow! I've missed so many updates :( That parade is too funny! I've never seen one done like that before :) Glad the girls had fun in the rain!!! I'll have to check out those fancy glasses, I've never seen those before!

Just got caught up! Thanks for posting those pictures of the Tiki Room as it is now, and of the Agrabah shop - we don't see many of those! I think that your new TR format is working out quite well.

p.s. - we had quite a bit of rain on our trip, but didn't manage to catch a rainy day parade :(

The first park of this trip was Hollywood Studios. It was around 2 pm when we arrived and a little wet.

i-jzSnFSz-L.jpg

(Keep in mind that this could be a mix of many days at the studios...)

This was the beginning of my favorite part of Disney: my daughters are constantly touching each other, and I am not telling them to keep their hands to themselves!

i-d8WZWZw-L.jpg

i-7BpNSsP-L.jpg

My daughters wanted to do the Animation Academy, but the drawing class was already full. I didn't want to wait 45 minutes since we had the whole trip ahead of us. We had the chance to see some friends though...

Look at the incredible line for the Incredibles!
i-3Qtq5zF-L.jpg

My daughters love the "Which character are you?"
i-ncRzrLw-L.jpg

Anyone else have this exact Old Maid game?

Virtual trips are very nice on the wallet (hopefully, they can help you make a shopping list! Your trip is so soon!)

School is going well. I think it is going to be a great year!

I think the pink and white Mickey dress (on the rack behind the pillow pets) is cute. I have also seen it in black and gold for adults.

I like the pink for little girls and the black for older girls...I don't think I love it for adults though...

Brooklynn has a Disney charms bracelet, so we have spent much time perusing those charms over many trips. :cutie: Do you add to it each trip? Thanks for starting my morning out in Magic Kingdom! :thumbsup2

You are quite welcome. Glad to return the favor!

You'll have to head to MK on a rainy day now that you are so close! I didn't look at the prices of those fancy glasses...

Thanks! :goodvibes Looking forward to hearing about your experience at the end of Aug. The Rainy Day parade really made that day special...

Hello my friend:hug: Just wanted to pop on and let you know we made it home safe and sound! I have to go back and catch up now.....popcorn::

Yay I also love to hear when the Disney magic results in the girls starting to get along more than usual :thumbsup2

Am glad you got to meet some friends and wow the line for The Incredibles sure is long!

So, the question I have is which one of you comes out top on TSMM?

Selfishly, I am so happy you are home. I missed you. However, I am sad that you had to leave the magic! I can't wait to hear about your trip!!! :yay:

Funny you should ask...

i-j5VZWrh-L.jpg

I beat dh...but really only this game...Not a great score by any account, but as long as I have bragging rights in my car (which again was only once...)

Lol once would be enough for me! I would be bragging about that all through the trip! :lmao:

Cooling off...

i-tDgbNdf-L.jpg

Goofing off...

i-XfV82FS-L.jpg

One of our favorite activities...if you haven't made time to do this...make time. It is so wonderful. The room is cool and quiet. The teacher makes jokes and it is so laid back for an attraction in Disney. It is as if time stops...

I love this class...I really have no drawing talent, but somehow the Disney magic helps me produce this...

i-dRr84wq-L.jpg

Hannah's drawing didn't quite look like Dale, so she added some ears and came up with Rabbit...

i-jmHVGmG-L.jpg

Pretty good Rabbit, don't you think? :thumbsup2

I can't decide which park I love to be in most, and add in the night and I really can't decide.

They all have such daytime and nighttime magic!

I was trying so hard to get a picture minus all of the people...I was set up with a tripod. It was amazing how many people just stopped in my line of sight. (Not for pictures either.) I was also amazed at how slowly people walk at the end of the night...So, I set the exposure for ridiculously long intervals (as long as people are moving (a normal speed) )they won't show up. Well, hahaha. I really can't be annoyed though. This was about 9:45 with a 10:00 closing. I could have gone back after Fantasmic to get people free pics... (But my goal after Fantasmic is to get out ahead of the people. ;)) I feel bad when people apologize though. I always tell them, "No, not a problem...I think it is my job to work around them..."

i-fwgSdTs-L.jpg

Now, do you see the truck? Mulch, Sweat and Shears was setting up...presumably for a photoshoot... as I saw some folks setting up a tripod with a much fancier lens than mine...

i-GSCJ6M4-L.jpg

So, what would night time hours at Hollywood Studios be without Fantasmic? (Our usual trip, of course...) With the additional showings of Fantasmic, I was excited to fit it in our plans so we could see it again. (We saw it in the rain in Aug of 2008.) Next update: Fantasmic.
