Aug 03 2008 Magic (West Coast)

We're just about all packed.

DW can't find our FE! I tore the house apart yesterday looking for it.

Luckily, we have a backup plan. It's functional, but will not be as nice as the FE we used on the last cruise.

DisneyMom92 Our eldest DS pirate: is looking forward to catching up with yours. I believe he's dropped him a couple of e-mails, not sure if he replied or not; but he will be hanging out around the foosball / ping pong tables on Deck 9 mid-ship once we get lunch out of the way on Sunday. :thumbsup2

BabyFavorite OUr eldest DS pirate: has been exchanging e-mails with yours for over the past year as well, and is so looking forward to meeting him. I'm so glad to hear that it looks like you'll be able to join us. :cheer2: We've been praying for your DH & DD.

Definitely not long now! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I believe (but I'm just looking at Google maps) that the closest to the pier is here: 233 N Harbor Bl, San Pedro, CA
(310) 548-8060‎ -
Does anyone know how far the Enterprise rental office is from the pier? I'm planning to drop everyone off and then drop off the car with the hopes of walking back.

I thought the closest enterprise location was inside the crowne plaza hotel. I think that hotel does have shuttle service, but I don't know if its connected w/the enterprise office or just rents space to them. I can't believe this trip is almost here. We've started packing & printed off all TSA/SWA rules on baggage to hopefully ensure we don't break one! LOL. We fly out Sat. I have put the meet on my itinerary and will try to be there; no guar on the rest of the fam! haha See you all soon!

I have asked Jeffery if he had heard from him several times and he replied that he hadn't checked his e-mail. :sad2: He is not a big e-mail person, more likely to use Myspace or AIM (I think still). I will tell him to check it to send something tonight. I know that he is looking forward to seeing Chad again too! Nice to have friends already aboard. :yay:

A bit off topic, but did anyone else in California feel the earthquake today? It happened at about 11:45 am and they say it was centered in Chino Hills, a 5.1 or something. I felt it. My husband didn't. I was sitting, he was walking around.

Sure did. I am in the San Fernando Valley and work in a large factory. We were all evacuated so that they could do a building check. Everything was a-o.k. :thumbsup2 and then everyone quickly went back to work.

They're saying it was a 5.4. We're about 25 miles from the epicenter and yes...we definitely felt it!!

That was actually the port loading up the number of desserts I plan on having. It caused little bit of a tremor.

Well, I am not only doing cruise planning but back-to-school planning as well. Kiddos start school THE DAY AFTER we get back. Yes you heard that right, there's not even a day between returning and starting school. So I have to have everything bought and ready before we go. When we scheduled the cruise about 16 months or so ago, school was still starting on a Wednesday so I thought we would have at least 2 days before school started. Now, in our school board's infinate wisdom we are starting on a Monday so we have no breathing room (or room for a delayed flight, DD16 has a perfect attendance in high school going into her sophomore year).

Cruise planning is coming a long. It has helped to keep a "todo" list on the computer/smart phone so that I can access it at any moment.

We are leaving Friday night, staying Friday and Saturday night at the DoubleTree in San Pedro. Hoping to still get a limo to take us there so that we can stop by the Chinese Theatre on the way from LAX to the hotel. Disney transportation is taking us back because of our early-ish departure.

Hoping to meet everyone Monday! Happy packing :thumbsup2

BACK TO SCHOOL ALREADY! :teacher: You are a very busy person. Good luck getting everything done. At least it will make the time go by faster.

Usually, during the first week of school, teachers assign students this writing assignment: What did you do over summer vacation...Your children will have a lot to write about.:goodvibes

A limo ride down Hollywood Blvd ! Now, that is awesome. I hope that works out for you.

Yes, we felt it in La Habra and Whittier. It is just a friendly reminder that we live in SoCal. Now, besides the cruise and party prep, I have to update my earthquake kit.

I live in the great Midwest, not too far from the tremor that shook the midwest a few months ago. News reports say no major damage and no injuries. They said that here too, until they found out there really was quite a bit of damage. No real injuries though. Hope that is true in California as well. What do you have in your earthquake kit besides the obvious water and flashlights?

Thank you so much!!! :) We are SO excited to be going, and my Chad is really, really looking forward to meeting your Chad in person! Seems they have a LOT in common.

Have a safe trip and we will see you soon! :lovestruc

Sure did! For those who know the San Diego area, we in Kearny Mesa felt it but my family in Tierrasanta didn't feel it or know about it til I called to check on home. DH at 32nd St said "you wouldn't believe what was moving here". Seems it was hit/miss like that. I heard on the radio that some in Carlsbad didn't feel it.

I heard about the earthquake! My dh told me about it today! Wow, 5.4. We've never been through one of those before ....tornadoes yes, earthquakes no. When one happens, does it usually affect flights or anything? Could it affect the harbor? I'm just wondering if aftershocks or even a build up to a more serious one is coming in the next few days. We've never been to CA before and aren't sure what to expect here. When we get to our hotel, should we ask for higher floor? Where is safest place to be during earthquake? TIA from this ignorant Missourian.

I just got the below email message about the water park being closed during our cruise, but the kicker is they are still doing the dolphin excursions. They don't give the option of cancelling altogether, but we may try depending on what's left to book. Is this affecting anyone else but me?

Here is the email:

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you due to maintenance reasons and in order to provide you the best services, our location at Vallarta will be closed for July 21st until August 15th. We apologize for this last minute notice, but our goal is to offer you the best attention with first level facilities and services, and for this reason Sea Life Park is making the best improvements in our locations. However the dolphinarium will be open and operating on regular basis to offer the Swimming with Dolphins programs that you have reserved with us.

As we know swim with dolphins is a life experience, we would like to offer you the following options:

- Move your program for another date (if your vacations plans allow you) and give you entrance free of charge for another date for you or your family.)

- Reschedule your program in another date or for another of our locations (In Mexico: Cozumel, Puerto Aventuras, Isla Mujeres or Puerto Vallarta; At the Caribbean: Tortola, and Hawaii). If you are a cruise ship passenger, one of the locations might fit with your itinerary.

- Make your dolphin program on the date that you have planned to, and as a compensation we will give you free of charge a box lunch or a dolphin photo (one per swimmer).

We would really appreciate if you could let us know your decision as soon as possible in order to make all the arrangements in your booking. Please don’t forget that the availability could change any moment.

We deeply apologize for this last minute notice.

Best Regards,
