Who is it going to be?

Stewart holds an 89-point lead over Martin in the standings as both drivers seeking their first Winston Cup title.
And to earn the championship, Stewart needs to finish just 22nd or better this weekend -- regardless of Martin's effort -- on a track that has seen him win twice in three races.
He needs to finish at least 13th for a chance to claim Roush Racing's first Winston Cup title. Martin likely will run well Sunday. He was fast during testing and has two top-fives in three starts at HMS. Moreover, if the appeal is granted Martin, he'll have even more leeway if Stewart falters.
And dont' forget this also comes into play:
But Stewart is all too aware that his quest is far from complete. And it could be made more arduous Saturday morning, when representatives from Roush Racing will meet with the National Stock Car Commission in appeal of a 25-point penalty issued Martin following the Pop Secret 400 at Rockingham after NASCAR found what they deemed an illegal left front spring. If the appeal is granted and Martin is re-issued the 25 points he was docked, Stewart's lead will shrink to 64 points.

I'm undecided. I'll decide somewhere around lap 100. :D

I like both drivers ( and have them both in our Nascar pool), but I will be cheering for Mark Martin. I would just like to see him win that championship. Stewart has lots of years to do it.

I am not a NASCAR fan at all but the rest of my family is nuts about it so I hear a lot about it all of the time.

My Mom is the biggest Mark Martin fan there ever was. She has been so nervous this season and she really wants him to win it all. She gets so bad when he is doing well in a race that if he is leading toward the end she will have to leave the room because she can't stand the excitement if she watches. She might have to watch this race from the bathroom. ;)

We are heavily into Nascar here and I hope Mark Martin wins it all! DH and I are in a Nascar pool here and Sunday is the big banquet of Prime Rib and Lobster and we all get a chance to win some money (nothing under $80!!), so we are looking forward to the last race!! :)

I'm in a weekly pool too. Ours is based on starting position. For example, I drew 21 and 43 this week (UGHHH!!!), so whoever qualifies in those positions are my drivers for the race. No one won last week so this week's winnings is $200. I have no chance though. I haven't won this year at all!!! :(

I'm not a big fan of Martin, but I think it would be great for him to win. I am a Stewart fan and would like him to win. I'm just so confused!!!! :D

wvjules...we pick numbers as well, except whatever numbers we pick are the cars we get! Like last week I picked 24 (out of a bunch of numbers in a bag) so I came in 3rd place since he did as well...We pay $10.00 each a week, $5.00 goes into the weekly pool and then the other $5.00 goes towards the big banquet at the end of the season...I love playing and have won many times this year! LOL I hate when the season ends though! :(

I think Tony is going to win.

Well, let's see!!!!!!!!!

I am not particularly fond of either of them. But, since I am one of those "OBNOXIOUS TALLADEGA FANS", I will definitely not be pulling for Tony Stewart!!!!!!!!! The sad thing about that is that I really liked him before his mouth got carried away!!!!!!Oh well, that's another story......

As for Mark Martin, I am not crazy about him, but if his winning will mean Tony losing, I will be pulling for him......

GO MARK MARTIN!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

I can't believe I said that!!!!!

I don't like Nascar....but DH has a man at his work that is completly crazy about it. He has curio cabinets full of the cars...especially Dale and he tapes every race on 2 different VCRs and then watches them on another TV. He cracks me up!

Anyway,

Hes cute:)

Tony Stewart. Have been following his career ever since we saw him live at the very first Disney 200 Indy Car Race. Three years ago I was at a business meeting in Charlotte, and in the evening we went to ride the Nascar simulators. I rode twice as a passenger. I went to the gift shop to buy a #88 shirt, and when I got to the car, the other people I was with said "did you see him"????Well I got excited, thinking it was Dale Jarrett. Nope. It was Tony Stewart signing autographs for the fans at the simulator. Nice touch. Rode past Lowes Motor Speedway in the dark so I could as least see where it was.

Well, I'm a Dal;e Jarrett fan, but I hope Mark wins...he's come so close before and not made it. DH is a HUGE Martin fan. As a matter of fact, he wore his Viagra shirt in MK last year and I couldn't figure out why these people were looking at us strangely and then I realised my Dh was an unintentional advertisement for that blue little pill.

I would like to see an "old timer" like Mark Martin win.

However, I think T3 (temper tantrum Tony) will win.

I am just sad that the last race is this Sunday. What will we watch on Sundays until Feb???????

I would really like to see Martin win it, but I doubt that will happen, unless he gets the 25 points back. And that's not too likely.

Tony Stewart. He has gotten bad press. I think it has
stifled his fire. I liked his outspoken personality. I think
NASCAR is trying to homogonize the sport.

I'm going to have to say Tony Stewart. He just has to finish 22nd or better and he's starting 6th. You know he's going to be very careful and since NASCAR denied the appeal by Roush to get the 25 points back for Mark Martin....it's Tony's to lose. I'm actually more interested in the race for 3rd since Gordon's involved ;)

Congrats to Tony Stewart - Winston Cup 2002 Champion. It was an interesting race. Gordon finished 4th in the points ;) Yeah. Who is everyone going to be cheering for next year?

I'm a devote Gordon Fan but I think Kenseth, Busch and Newman will be forces to be reckoned with.

Yea Tony!! One of the reasons I like him is he is outspoken, excited when he wins, or for his teammate to do well, and doesn't just have the standard answers. Can't blame him for not being happy with stupid questions like "are you ready to be NASCAR's leader?" or something like that. Actually he had a pretty classy answer to that.

Well I will continue to be a Tony fan, I think Jimmie Johnson will be one to watch (with a boss like Jeff what could go wrong) except for that bad tire decision this time!! I agree that Kurt Busch and Ryan Neuman will shake things up a bit too. For the oldies but goodies I still like Dale Jarrett. And who couldn't like Jeff Gordon!!

Three months to the next race. Good thing we've got football.
