On the radio this morning, I heard that Delta is cutting many flights and they only have to give you a TWO DAY notice of the changes. :confused3 I went to www.delta.com and checked out my reservations and it turns out that, completely without my knowledge, my departure time has been pushed forward from 12:50pm to 10:30am, and my flight home has been moved from 7:00pm to 5:15pm. :earseek: (This is for a January 2006 trip.)

Schedule changes happen. You have three options though...
First, check the days you're traveling on on Delta's website. If there are flights that are better times for you, call Delta and tell them to change them for you. They should NOT say no, because you didn't pick the times you now have. They should change them (into the same class of service) with no fee.
Second choice is to play the wait game. I've booked in advance for flights and they change 4 times before I go, and two thirds of the time they change back to the time that I bought, give or take a few minutes.
Third, deal with it. :- ) (I know, it's a harsh response, but it's still an option!)
If you to change your flights, I wouldn't wait too long to make a decision on it though! The longer you wait, the harder it will be to change them later!

This is more than just schedule changes, it is related to Delta's being bankrupt. I bought my tickets prior to them filing, and I'm wondering what else can happen between now and January. I live near a Delta hub and, unfortunately it's one of the hubs being seriously downsized.

Honestly (but it's just my opinion) bankrupcy isn't a big deal with airlines. Delta, Northwest, US Airways, and United are all in bankrupcy. Independence Air is removing flights from the west coast. It really depends on what chapter they are filing under (don't ask me if 7 or 11 is the bad one, I never can keep them straight). What these four major airlines are under is under is like a reconstruction of funds. They are canceling flights. They are restructuring their schedules to accommodate their cash flow.

Did you pay with a credit card? Did you buy travel insurance? Credit cards offer refunds if "service is not given". Travel insurance should cover the tickets if Delta ceases operation IF the tickets and insurance were purchased before they filed.

If your in KY, I'm guessing your talking about CVG. They are still a major hub, and I don't see them completely shutting down, but there is still a possibility of them going under. I'd still check the air schedules and see if there is another time that might be better for you and think positive. Delta is one of the better airlines in the skys, and a plus is that US Air and United are almost ready to remove their bankrupt status. By law, other airlines are required to pick up the slack if they did cease operation, but only on a standby status.

Now I'm rambling so I'll leave you in peace. :-)

We have a Flight scheduled through Delta to and from DisneyWorld. The flight leaving Knoxville going to Orlando has not changed. But they have changed the return flight several different times by moving the time forward then pushing it back, then moving it forward again. I really don't care about schedule changes such as this so long as I can get to Orlando and back, which I'm sure I will be able to.

My flight was pushed back two hours which would make us miss our first PS. I called Delta and explained the situation. They changed my reservations to an earlier flight without any additional fees!! They were very friendly and easy to work with!! So don't worry, they will do their best to help you out. :)

Hope things work out for you. Nowdays it's like playing russian roulette when you buy an airline ticket. You should dispute the charge with credit card company since Delta altered it's contract with you. You have option to say no and seek a different airline.

They have been cutting them for weeks with NO notice. My DH travels them and the last few weeks he has had several flights cut (and they call me at home - hello - he is traveling - call his cell phone, that is when they even call). Then some flights he actually arrives at the gate to find out they are going to fly a smaller plane and have bumped the difference. He actually got to airport, they checked his bag for his flight, he got to gate to find out that he and 25 others had been bumped to another airline so Delta can fly a smaller plane. And you guessed it, his luggage was not with him. So the front check in doesn't even know what is happening or they decided to let the poor gate folks do their dirty work.

The worse thing to do right now is to drive their customers to other airlines. If you are making changes to ones flights, contact them immediately and work with them to arrange alternative plans. More than ever they need good customer service. Keep a close eye on your flights ! And make sure you arrive at the gates with lots of extra time to make sure you aren't bumped against your will !

I would call them and try to make changes or ask for a refund before you dispute the charge. You should only dispute the charge if they are being uncooperative.

An hour or two altered I can deal with, and I won't get too annoyed at Delta unless things change drastically... but I'm watching them very closely. I try to book flights for maximum WDW time, and I just lost two hours on my last day. True, I gained a few on departure day, but that is going to make the morning crunch that much worse... and I can't check into my hotel when I arrive.
As for dining reservations, I guess I can't make any definite plans for arrival or departure day. *sigh*

I've been a Delta Silver Medallion flyer for five years running. I am still using them. BUT, I no longer check any bags, I only fly on flights that have had a solid history of high occupancy, and I always use my AMEX card to buy the tickets.
Better safe than sorry.

That's the scary part. The home->WDW flight usually IS full. (We take the same one every year.) The WDW->home is usually only half occupancy. That one getting changed didn't surprise me. :scared1:

Delta did something like that to us one year. The woman at the ticket counter wouldn't refund our money, but her supervisor came along and refunded it without any problem since it was Delta's change and not ours. If you don't get satisfaction the first time, ask for the supervisor.

I just checked our itinerary, they have changed our flight home!!!!! :scared1:
But only by 10 minutes! :earboy2: So I will have to continue to watch it and see what happens. What I'm worried about is that we now cannot choose our seats for this flight. What if we can't sit together? Maybe closer to the date we can choose them, its probably going to change several more times anyway! Good luck to all of us! One way or another we will get there!! :goodvibes

Call on the telephone to reselect seats. This call also accepts the schedule change.

Well, AA is also doing the same thing... and they aren't bankrupt.

It appears to actually be related to jet fuel. Both the cost and availabilty.

Personally I think you will see lots more changes on all airlines if fuel costs dont' fall.

As to not checking bags...I don't really get that. I am a Platinum Medallion on DL and I check bags. Carry on should only be done if YOU can put it in the overhead.

(By the way, most travel insurance only covers total failure to get you there, not a two hour schedule change)

Can I check my flight with Delta if I booked the flight thru Disney?? I have the flight number, but I don't have a Delta confirmation number... At least I don't think so... I have a "passenger receipt", not a ticket... I am wanting to check things now that I've read the thread!!

We fly out in 16 days and when I just checked my flights everything was still the same....

DL changed our flights a couple of weeks ago. Both flts. had about 2 hr change. I just called and confirmed flts. & seat assign. They also e-mailed me new receipt & itineray with changes. I usually check the flights every couple of days. We're out of CVG which is big hub for DL and our flights appear to be full so don't expect cancellation just maybe more schedule changes. I too am Silver Med. member and I know they hold seats for TA's etc. I fly a lot and all airlines change their schedules. With the price of fuel they are all trying to economize and consolidate flights.

I"m obsessive about checking several times a day. I've had Delta change my flight by a few minutes, completely do away with a flight and combine it with another one, change flight numbers. I have yet to be notified. I did have one instance where they called me the day before a flight to see if I would agree to take a different flight. But, I had to be in Orlando at the time I had booked, so could't change.
Off to check and make sure my flights are still there!!!
