I am totally confused by some of the CM comments.

What if I have park hopper tickets for my 8 day stay.
Does that mean I can get into the park at 5:30 pm and then show my MNSSHP tickets to get my wristband.

Or do I have to get there by 4:00 pm to get my wristbands.

Bottomline, how are park hopper tickets handled when technically they are day guests at any point in time.

I really hope, in the end, they decide to close for the hour. Publicizing this was a bit of a calculated risk, KWIM? I have a feeling a new idea has been given (hey, Disney will let us go to MNSSHP for FREE by following this strategy!) to countless disboarders lurking on this thread and now MNSSHP is going to be even that much more crowded with day visitors who figure they don't have to leave.

I sent an email as well. I will be really pissed if I paid and everyone else is going to play.
I tried to send it to some Disney exec's but I guess I had bogus addresses.

I'm concerned, as many have said, because I'm attending the 1st party on the 15th. This will be our 1st time at any of the hard ticket events & I'll be gravely disappointed if this is handled poorly.

I also sent an email to someone in the events coordination office. We are working with them on an (unrelated) Disney event on a corporate level. DH & I have expressed that we would reconsider having the event there if this MNSSHP does not go over well. The convention we are handling would be worth a substantial amount (in our opinion) and hope this will make someone from outside the MK planners take a look at how it being handled. It may be a long shot, but it seemed worthwhile.

PS--while writing the email, I already got a quick response from the event planner & she said that she would look into it. We'll see!

I just called again....

The CM said that they ARE NOT closing the park early, at 4:00pm they will begin issuing wristbands to those who have paid for MNSSHP tickets and at 6:00 they will make an announcement that if you do not have tickets to MNSSHP you need to make your way out of the park.

I then asked if I would be able to enter the park prior to 7:00 with just my MNSSHP tickets, the CM advised me NO...I will not be permitted in the park prior to 7:00.

I then asked if he could give me a guarantee that no one other than those with tickets will be allowed to remain in the park...he then said that Disney will do their best to make sure that non ticket holders were not in the park after 7:00, but that he couldn't guarantee anything.

This conversation with Disney really upset me, so I asked him, "How is it fair that you will not let me into the park prior to 7:00 with just my MNSSHP tickets, but you are letting day guests who didn't purchase MNSSHP tickets remain in the park and enjoy the festivities?"

The CM didn't really have an answer for me.....he just tried to assure me that non ticket holders would not be in the park.....we shall see....

I got much of the same response when I questioned a CM about it (after calling to make some ADR changes). He "assured" me that Disney would handle it approriately, that Disney didn't want people staying in there without paying any more than us ticket holders do, blah blah blah. He said no, they would not be moving everyone into a land for an hour while they cleared the place out of non ticket holders; that they would be making an announcement and probably have CM's nudging non-paying guests to the exit. (Tell them, but not escort them out; we all know how far that goes). And he did make it clear that Disney hadn't made a final decision about how to handle it yet (before he gave his speculation as noted above). He also said not to believe everything that's posted on forums...he guessed that's where I got my info.

Who knows...guess we'll all find out in a few weeks how they are handling it. And if it's a disaster, we can all sell our tickets on Ebay to unsuspecting people who don't read the DIS! (JUST KIDDING!!! NO FLAMES!!)

Elisabeth, I hope so too! We are planning a nationwide conference for a group that would number about 6K people, so I'm hoping that they would listen to my concern on this subject. One of the forecasted times would fall within the realm of a MNSSHP in 2008 (if they are held on similar dates) and it has been one of the "selling points" that they have brought up time & time again.

Who knows...guess we'll all find out in a few weeks how they are handling it. And if it's a disaster, we can all sell our tickets on Ebay to unsuspecting people who don't read the DIS! (JUST KIDDING!!! NO FLAMES!!)

I know you are totally kidding, but the idea that my group (9/15) is going to be the "guinea pigs" as mking624 has said really irks me!

I think that the people attending the party the first 3 nights (9-15; 9-22; and 9-29) are really going to be guinea pigs especially if they are still undecided about closing the park early.....

I hate being a guinea pig!!!!!

I sent my email. And I agree, to an extent, that we are jumping to some conclusions. But I still feel that we have some legitimate concerns. This is an EXPENSIVE event. It is not the same as EMH where your wristband is a perk of staying on property. People paid a lot of money for this wristband and that is going to generate more animosity between those who should be there and those who shouldn't. I am pretty non-confrontational but I know there will be others who will be very vocal when the party starts if some one is taking up a good spot at the parade unfairly. My concern is that now that first hour of the party will be spent turning people away and kicking kids out. I'm not talking about just the dishonest ones who try to sneak in. What about the family who gets off It's a Small World and are then told to take their family to the exits, passing fun looking, dressed up characters and candy stops that they are not allowed to visit with or join in on? That could make for some upset kids.

Maybe it won't be as bad as all that, I am new to WDW and never even been to a party so I have no idea. It just seems the old system, from all reports, worked pretty well.

This is an excerpt from my letter addressing this specific concern:

"Even if you firmly enforce the wristband requirement by physically escorting guests from the park, I don't think it is very Disney to drag a kid out of a candy or character line because their parents did not follow the rules. I will not enjoy spending the first hour of the party explaining to my 6 year old why that nice little girl with no wristband was asked to leave the line to see Goofy. This should have taken place before the excitement of the party starts. This policy also puts guests not attending the party of their own choice in a bad position. As a parent who would follow the rules, I can tell you that trying to leave a park which clearly has a lot of fun and amazing things starting, many involving candy, would involve lots of tears and protests from my lovely little ones."

I am upset at the money and expense, but this type of situation bothers me a great deal. I agree that I will not enjoy the evening I pay for if every line I stand in a child is in tears and not able to stay..whether their parents did or did not know the situation. Others have mentioned people having TS in the parks around the time the party starts. Will all those people understand that they will have to leave if they don't have tickets? Or will some of them be oblivious to the whole "ticketed" event.

I went to a sold out MVMCP in 2005, Dec 18. I did not think it was at all crowded. We barely made it to the second parade and had no trouble finding a seat. If I remember correctly the tickets were numbered at 20,000 for the night. So, the first 2 hours were a bit on the crowded side trust me but after about 10 it was a great night. This was what I was hoping for this time.

I just think that it is unfair to those who have paid and those who haven't and don't know anything. We here on these boards take the time to research our trips and enjoy our time at Disney. There are plenty of families out there that go on the "ONE" big trip of a lifetime with their children and don't research anything other than calling disney reservations. Plus, I just think it adds alot of pressure on the CM's to get non ticket holders out of the park. How many arguments will there be? I am assuming many and that will totally wipe out the joy for me. I paid $40 x 9 people for FUN!

We have tickets for the 15th and I really hope they do not stay open till 7:00pm. I have not recieved a response yet, but from what others are posting, it seems like the response is not really resolving the issue.

Does anyone know what the Maximum number of people is for one MNSSHP event?

Ie if on a normal full day Mk took (guess) 50,000 people, and on MNSSHP thay take 20,000.

Disney have cocked up on this, 2 of my work friends, who were going to BUY MNSSHP are now NOT going to bother. They will try and stay in, and play "dumb" if they are caught they will walk "slow" via the toilets, and loose the CM. IF they do ger "swept" out they will then BUY a ticket for a following date. But in their words, " Why pay when Disney are already sooooo rich?"
Im so mad with one of them, I had to leave the table today. What about the paying guests I asked. "more fool them!". was the reply.


I soooo hope Disney listen to their loyal and PAYING guests.

according to the person I spoke to today (I called to make ressies for ME and asked casually what the deal was), they are closing at 6pm. I don't know if she is right or what, but I sure am hoping it won't be a big deal once we are there.

but I figured it had to be a mistake. I went ahead and emailed both addresses, just in case. Here's my email:
To Whom it May Concern;

I have recently become aware of a questionable change in your procedures with regard to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I understand there is a chance that the Magic Kingdom will remain open to regular day guests until the inception of the party, at 7:00 pm, at which time non-ticket holders will be asked to leave. I purchased tickets for my entire family for this "hard ticketed event" several months ago. Our magical experience will be stymied if we are exposed to the the confusion and abuse that will surely ensue as cast members attempt to usher the day guests out of the park while the party begins. I believe some non ticket holders will simply choose to ignore the cast members instructions, and will remain hidden amongst the parade crowds and candy lines. This will serve to lessen the overall experience, and bring down the worth of the tickets. If my toddler is unable to view the parade, see the characters, trick or treat, and all the other fun activities specific to the halloween party, due to a multitude of guests present who did not pay for the privelage, I will feel inclined to avoid participating in these additional cost events in the future.

I hope your response will confirm that this is just a rumor that will never come to fruition. I am certain that the Disney Corporation has exceptional executives that would shy away from changes that would lead to less revenue. Therefore, I am confident that it is highly probable that the hours posted on your website for the party evenings are currently incorrect.

Last year we attended MNSSHP on 10/6. (It was just OK - it rained that night so the first parade was canceled.)

On our last night at WDW we had ADRs for CRT and it was another MNSSHP night. We finished dinner after 8 pm and WERE ESCORTED OUT OF THE PARK BY A CM. (No biggie - we weren't planning to try and stay anyway but we did get to see part of the parade as we walked down Main Street).

Hopefully, they'll have CM escorts again this year.

I sent my email as well, we all know how long it takes to clear the park on a night when there is nothing special still going on. You can bet that even if all the guests are attempting to leave the park it will take an hour. Which will mean the first hour of the party will still be very crowded. Now factor in all the new things a guest can stop and look at (parades, fireworks, characters dressed in costumes, ect.) and we are sure to have ALOT of people hanging around for an hour or two at least. How can this be called an exclusive event. I sure hope we can persuade Disney that this would not be good for us which means it won't be good for them either, when people stop purchasing tickets to these "exclusive events" and many start asking for a refund. (I know I will if they do not clear the park prior to the party).
