Attention all MNSSHPers

They don't "effectively" use the wristbands for EMH. Not all CMs check people for wristbands. They hand wristbands out to people that aren't present in line to collect. There is a lot of abuse of the wristbands. I don't see them checking wristbands for some of the activities that will take place that night either, such as fireworks, shows, dance parties.

I miss the days when they closed MK at 6:00p and re-opened at 8:00p and MNSSHP/MVMCP ran from 8:00p - 1:00a so then they had 2 hours to be sure the park was cleared and NO ONE was in the park unless they were in a restaurant. Then they would escort those without tickets from the restaurants to the gate.

That system worked very well; even better then closing at 6:00p and reopening at 7:00p. Then they changed it to only closing for one hour in 2000.

I just can't see how they can clear the park this year with NO closing of MK and just an announcement for those without tickets to leave. :(

Closing at 6 and re-opening at 8 is a great idea...that way we are guaranteed to have non-ticket holders out....

I sent my email last night and got their automatic response.....

Waiting for them to respond...... :rolleyes1

As a manager at a large department store that you all know, I can tell you hard how it is to clear a store of people...we used to have "invitation-only" shopping nights where we'd close the store for a half hour then re-open one entryway for special guests. We'd have food, entertainment, etc, it actually was very nice. But man oh man! Trying to get those people OUT at 6:30!!! The swear words I heard and complaints...how the heck do you start a party at 7pm without clearing out people first?

These tickets were a HUGE expense for me...I only bought them because they were "special" and I figured this was a prestige event. I already have 7 day park-hoppers, so in essence, I have paid admission TWICE for the day of MNSSHP!!!

This strikes me as a cheap "for-profit" move on the management of Disney...like someone figured out "hey, we lose XXX amount of money in the hour we spend clearing out the park, let's just leave it open and see what we get". Meanwhile, here are all of us who paid a ton of money to be at a special event, yet that money is not good enough! It is just greed! heck, maybe they have to chip away at that 7 billion or whatever they paid for Pixar! But what a disappointment for everyone who bought these tickets.

I, too, have sent in my emails as well as a hard letter to the President of the Resorts/Parks. I'll see what happens.

Of course I am keeping this QUIET from my kids because they are really looking forward to this and no sense stirring the turd!

I sent an email to both addresses - here is what I sent:

To Whom it May Concern:

I have purchased 2 tickets for MNSSHP on Sept. 22nd. These tickets cost me approximately $82 - which is not an insignificant expense.

I have just read on the internet (disboards.com) that the Magic Kingdom is NOT going to be shut down at 600pm like it was in years past in order to "sweep" all of the days guests from the MK. Instead, it is my understanding that the MK will be closing at 7pm and that the MNSSHP will be starting at 7pm and Disney is doing nothing more than making an announcement that the park is closing but is NOT taking any affirmative action to ensure that those without MNSSHP tickets leave the park.

I further understand that guests without MNSSHP tickets will not be able to ride the rides but they WILL be able to watch the parade, interact with the characters, attend the dance party and go trick or treating.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

There have been conflicting reports coming from WDW - some people have been told that the website showing a 7pm closing time is wrong while others have been told that guests without MNSSHP ticktets are not being ushered out of the park.

Please respond to me in writing and confirm that the park is closing at 6pm and those guests who have not paid the hefty and significant ticket price for a MNSSHP ticket will be "swept" out of the park.

If in fact a ticket is NO LONGER required to attend the MNSSHP and one my trick or treat, see the characters, attend the dance party and watch the parades WITHOUT a MNSSHP ticket - then please instruct me in writing how I may get a refund of my MNSSHP ticket price. If you decline a refund but at the same time refuse to "sweep" non-MNSSHP ticket holders out of the park, you will leave me no choice but to dispute the payment on my credit card.

People expect higher standards from Disney. This behavior re MNSSHP (if in fact it is true - which I beleive it is true given the vast number of people who have already checked with WDW) is wrong and beneath Disney. Do not offer special ticketed events, take peoples money and then allow non paying guests to attend the event as well.

Do the right thing! Close the MK at 6pm on the MNSSHP nights and "sweep" the non-ticketed guests from the park so that those of us who have paid for the privilege may enjoy it.

Please respond in writing.

Thank you.

I think we could dispute the tickets on our credit cards -- we did not get what we paid for. If disney does not change the plan I think I am going to do that!

Looking forward to hearing how Disney responded to everyone else!

That is almost EXACTLY what my letters said! Except I added a line that said something like "during your 'Year of a Million Dreams' promotion, doing this to customers is more like a nightmare".

...My name is now in some BAD DISNEY COMPUTER BASE and they'll throw bedbugs into our room at POFQ and spit in the mussels appetizer at Le Cellier! :furious: :furious: :furious:

Has anybody received a reply from Disney yet?

I don't think anyone has yet. I'm sure if anyone did, they'd post the reply here. :)

I would LOVE to know how many party goers have actually emailed Disney so far.

Depending on how many, they may be waiting to figure out what kind of reply to give so many upset guests. :confused3

Thanks.

I just got back from being away this weekend and find this!

Last weekend it was Price Increases, Now we don't have to have a Ticket to do MNSSHP, what's NEXT!?!

j

PS Sent off my email! I'm going twice so I want to know what the heck I'm paying for!?!

I also sent an e-mail. I did put in it that they would not let someone show up at MK in the morning and let them in without a ticket so why would they let people stay in the park that had not purchased a ticket. I did tell them if it was not true to please except my apologies. I also told them that if it is true and the park is full of people without wristbands that I will be requesting and quite frankly expecting a full refund for 4 adult tickets.

As we are going to an early party 9/29 I hope they fix this before the parties start. As for disputing the cc charge does anyone remember the date they went on sale? I know they only give you so long to dispute a charge just trying to figure out the time frame. When I get a response I will try to post it here.

I am emailing too. We bought 3 tickets for 9/29 MNSSHP before the time changes. We will have been at the parks all week and having exclusive access to rides via wristbands does not inerest me as much as having a great view of the parades and access to trick or treating and characters. Does anybody want to see the magic of the party ruined by making the first hour of the party a security sweep? Seriously, even if they do "escort guests out" that is not what I want as part of the party experience. THAT should be done beforehand so my 6 year old isn't asking me why goofy won't sign the autograph of that nice "wristband-less" young girl.

That's something I don't get either, there is approximately one month until the first party. Usually with ticketed events you are given information ahead of time as to what is happening, etc. Like the Food and Wine fest, there is information about that out already.
So why does it seem like this years MNSSHP is under a shroud of uncertainity? Our tickets are supposed to wait for us at Will Call but I thought we'd at least get a brochure or informational letter about it in the mail or even email!?
I can't imagine that they'd leave the planning of such large parties to the last minute?
Weird...and no, still haven't had a reply, but it could be that they are having meetings to figure out what and how to respond to a sudden onslaught of disgruntled Disers! :)

I would love to know as well. We should keep a running list of people here who have sent an email to at least give us an idea of "our" group who has sent something.

I think you folks are jumping to alot of conclusions! If you need a wristband to attend, then you need a wristband to attend! What makes any of you think you are not getting what you have paid for? If the park closes to regular guests at 7, then I highly doubt they would be handing out trick or treat bags to people without tickets! They are not being "Allowed" to stay for something they didn't pay for, they are just not being asked to leave until an hour after they used to be.

For all you know, maybe they plan on making an announcement for all ticket holders to gather in a particular land at a specific time, and non-wristed band guests will be directed out of the park at that time.

None of us really know how they plan to do it, but give the mouse some credit...they must be pretty good at what they do or we wouldn't keep going back!

I will give the Mouse all the credit in the world, once it's made clear what the plan is to begin with. Right now we (meaning anyone who has called in regards to the party) are getting conflicting information as to whether or not non paying day guests are being removed from the park.
While to some it may be fine with them if non paying guests remain for an hour after the party is supposed to begin while to others it is not. We paid for a party to last from 7pm until Midnight and we want our money's worth. As consumers we are within our rights to expect to get our money's worth. It is advertised as a private event, therefore it should remain a private event. At this time representatives of WDW are not confirming that it will remain private and are in essence NOT answering direct questions in regards to the event. We are protecting our investment by asking questions and demanding answers. Just as I would do for any other purchase I make that is important to me.
Each of us value things in a different way from others. What may not be important to some is important to others. :goodvibes

The problem is that people are getting different answers from different CMs. The website hours have changed...and one CM will say it's correct and another will say it's wrong (however, if it's wrong, I find it interesting they have never updated it).

I think the "problem" is that you're looking at this in a very idealistic way. Sure, if everything were perfect, we'd have no need to worry. Unfortunately, ideals aren't always the reality. If we're wrong about this, so be it. But I'd rather we voice our concerns NOW then wait until it's too late and find out we could have changed something had we actually spoken up.

You have your right to your opinion...but please try not to minimize ours.

I threatened them and said since I only like the characters and if they are closing at 7pm then I know for next time that I could just stay in the park and blend in with everyone that paid. :stir:

I bought my tickets for this year and i will ask for my money back if they dont change that!

i emailed them but i have not recieved a response

I sent my email. And I agree, to an extent, that we are jumping to some conclusions. But I still feel that we have some legitimate concerns. This is an EXPENSIVE event. It is not the same as EMH where your wristband is a perk of staying on property. People paid a lot of money for this wristband and that is going to generate more animosity between those who should be there and those who shouldn't. I am pretty non-confrontational but I know there will be others who will be very vocal when the party starts if some one is taking up a good spot at the parade unfairly. My concern is that now that first hour of the party will be spent turning people away and kicking kids out. I'm not talking about just the dishonest ones who try to sneak in. What about the family who gets off It's a Small World and are then told to take their family to the exits, passing fun looking, dressed up characters and candy stops that they are not allowed to visit with or join in on? That could make for some upset kids.

Maybe it won't be as bad as all that, I am new to WDW and never even been to a party so I have no idea. It just seems the old system, from all reports, worked pretty well.

This is an excerpt from my letter addressing this specific concern:

"Even if you firmly enforce the wristband requirement by physically escorting guests from the park, I don't think it is very Disney to drag a kid out of a candy or character line because their parents did not follow the rules. I will not enjoy spending the first hour of the party explaining to my 6 year old why that nice little girl with no wristband was asked to leave the line to see Goofy. This should have taken place before the excitement of the party starts. This policy also puts guests not attending the party of their own choice in a bad position. As a parent who would follow the rules, I can tell you that trying to leave a park which clearly has a lot of fun and amazing things starting, many involving candy, would involve lots of tears and protests from my lovely little ones."
