Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Probably a dumb question....

I don't have tons of experience with lazy rivers. But aren't they usually a full "circle" so you can just keep going around? Why does this look like it's U-shaped?

They can be lots of different shapes. But maybe they will only have one entrance and one exit?

I haven’t looked at it close enough

Yeah it looks like the last portion of the lazy river is going to have a bridge/tunnel to allow access to the "island" in the middle of the river.

So they are likely waiting to do the bridge/tunnel and the last section of the river at the same time. Once they complete the bridge and last section it will be harder to work on anything in the middle, since they will have to haul everything across a probably small pedestrian bridge

Post Covid we got into BCV a few times and absolutely loved the Stormalog Bay's lazy river. Could spend all day in it. We will do DLL at least once in our lifetime.

Makes me wish we had direct points!

My husband is 47 and has never been in a lazy river.

I can't imagine it will mirror the CCV/BRV chart, especially when it will most likely sleep more in each room category and be billed as a super ultra premium nature inspired resort.

My one devils advocate point to unbridled points escalation is the Fort Wilderness Cabins.

Perhaps DVC regrets that whole thing. But I largely feel like more of the points escalation is because the newest resorts are generally more desirable. Though a bit of both. BRV relaunch I suspect will just match CCV. Boardwalk and Beach Club misjudged desirability.

Even RIV was positioned by Disney as the “Second Grand“. I’m not getting that out of Disney this time, so I’d be pretty surprised if it came in above RIV. The firework room block very much excepted. They’ve found a creative way to jack up points via views. Which they kind of screwed up for RIV, the cheapest rooms have the most unobstructed views of the fireworks.

Except those same rooms at RiV have a view of the parking lot the rest of the time. Fireworks are only a very small part of the day.

But, in terms of LSL, it’s going to be based more on what they decide the cash prices will be and point charts to match.

I expect it to be similar to RIV but not as high as VGF and PVB.

They really have not said much about this project at all. I am hoping we get at least some info at the meeting.

Yeah. I think more people need to experience resort vs preferred view at RR. Overrating 15 mins of EPCOT fireworks and underrating the serenity of RR grounds, lake, motion of the skyliner, etc.

Interesting how times change. A decade earlier, BLT opened with Theme Park View (parking lot below). IIRC, BLT TPV (many called it parking lot view) had the highest WDW point chart. (Excluding AKV Concierge). IIRC, BLT TPV has a closer parking lot than the RIV SV we had in October.

Additional benefit for RIV SV over BLT TPV, we didn’t have a dozen car security alarms going off during the fireworks.

Note: this is why I consider PVB Island Tower TPV (most rooms but not all) worth the higher points. It is truly lake view, TPV, electric water pageant, fireworks, etc view.

While the parking lot at BLT is there, so is the MK…you have great views of the castle and Space Mountain.

It is no where near the same IMO. I have stayed in both.

But, to be fair, I don’t book for fireworks so if they swapped out the views and made PV less, I’d be much more happier with that.

Been a long time since we stayed BLT TPV, so my memory of it may be off. Space Mountain is absolutely a major part. I didn’t recall much of a castle view, but we didn’t have a high floor.

Ironically, we have booked Standard (Resort) View and had very good views of Space Mountain and fireworks. This experience is why we stopped booking TPV there.

Personally, like the Preferred/Lake view at BLT. It’s also why we like the RIV Preferred View. Love watching lake activity without watching cars/trucks/buses.

For me, LSL having a beautiful lake view and having good activities (lazy river) is why LSL is intriguing. As someone who loves WDW history, Polynesian, CR, and CFW are the originals. We own two. Will not buy CFW (dues), but maybe LSL? (Much depends on what the finished product, point charts, dues, etc)
