Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

If they put LSL as part of CFW I would never buy there. But I fear they will combine it, otherwise CFW will never sell. That is the only reason I can see for the landtrust they created with CFW. Also if all dvc going forward is part of the landtrust then that sucks too - what is the advantage to buying your home resort? Also does that then negate the resale restrictions? if the resorts are part of the land trust then you can stay at any resort in the land trust correct?

No. The trust allows for them to add new component sites and put them under their own RTU plan.

They don’t have to be combined into one home resort. So, they can put LSL into the trust and sell it the same way as CFW, without combining it with it in the same RTU plan that exists now.

But, the trust allows them to do that and do other things that are not possible when it’s created as a leasehold condo like the previous resorts all were.

whew if/once all this happens its going to be a big learning curve for the way we all know things to run currently.

If CFW is rolled into LSL, I imagine when sales begin on LSL, the cabins will be the first units to be sold/declared. I don't see anything revolutionary, but a quirk worth noting. It may give DVD incentive to begin selling LSL earlier than usual in the process.

Because the trust sells RTU and not a deeded interest, you don’t buy specific units.

You buy access to use any of the inventory activated in the RTU plan you are buying into n

So, if they declare LSL in the same plan as CFW, you are simply buying the right to have both as your home resort.

The trust I would need to understand better, but I am not sure that it will matter to be an owner at LSL or not...

Typically the larger the resort, the easier it is to trade into at 7 months (and the inverse is, generally true excluding VB & HHI).

So, particularly if the entire resort ends up being DVC, I think it will be very easy to trade and stay there.

The points chart, and having ample entertainment/recreation on the property I think will be the determinative factors as to how well they do.

They kind of need the rest of the properties to be sold through other than DLH and AUL- especially if the resort on-site amenities are comparable to existing DVC resorts... I feel big pools more dining, maybe even a spa are a must, or a very compelling points chart to make up for it....

Its a shame that most of these hotels dont have room service and more of them dont have a spa

Trading into LSL would depend on the amount of units declared and if the owners are using their points elsewhere. It's possible that may not happen for a while. I wasn't paying attention when Riviera was first released and if non-owners could easily get into it at 7 months. Eventually I imagine you will be correct that it would be easy to trade into, but the first couple years, I'm not sure.

Let's say that Fort Wilderness Cabins and Lake Shore Lodge are together. What do you think the point charts would be for LSL studios, 1 bed, etc. given the existing point charts for the Cabins? Would you expect the resort view studios would be less points than a Cabin? Here is the 2026 chart for reference-

If you want that, GF is basically where you need to be.

Come join us! That's why, among other reasons, we can't imagine staying anywhere else...

Multiple nice restaurants, sprawling grounds, Spa, relaxing lobby in the Villas Building, Porte Cochere to unload when you arrive, parking not too far from the building, small building....

Wait, never mind... it's absolutely terrible... Don't stay there! :)

My guess is they'll price the rooms with 2 room types - and they'll resemble BLT Standard & Lake View... Assuming there are restaurants, nicer pools, that are closer by, etc. they'll be able to easily justify that...

But... without knowing more details it is really hard to know the points chart - even as a guess/stab in the dark.

With Disney clearly going after a higher income customer in recent years, I think they'll want to step it up...

Beautiful!

Is Mary Poppins a favorite of yours, or did you theme it to GF?t
Both! When I saw what the room looked like online I decided to run with the theme. I bought some clouds and hung them from the ceiling, inflatable penguins, pastel colors, etc.! Had her include my name and write "practically perfect in every way" and age on the door! And then invited some family over and had a little get together to eat the 🎂

THIS would be perfect for my wife! Wow, how much does that run, if I may inquire...?
It was a lot, for what it is, def a splurge for the big 4 0. My 8 inch cake cost $340 plus they charge 18% gratuity and $5 delivery fee.

There is no getting around the gratuity and fee, I wanted to pick it up and it wasnt allowed so that ran me $400.

Ofc it is overpriced but it was convenient and a special memory for my first stay at the Grand Floridian. Glorimar, my coordinator, was wonderful, I gave her my ideas and inspiration and this is what we came up with, she was very communicative and easy to work with!

Very nice! I was going to say if you like Mary Poppins you'll love the fountain in the original villa building.

The way we did it, did not give me the time to appreciate it and really soak it all in.

We were not dvc and renting points so we could only afford two nights because we were also staying at akv, blt and ccv to find out if dvc was for us and what we wanted our home resort to be.

It was the last hotel we stayed at which meant we were exhausted. It was an extremely busy holiday weekend and the cast members were most likely worn thin.

Staying 5 nights will give me time to enjoy all the restaurants, pool, hopefully Victoria and alberts! (We tried for it last time but they were booked so we're def going to try with the 5 days out.) New refurbishment, etc. I love Mary Poppins and just being able to be in the lobby and admire the fountain and hotel the way I got to with PIT is def something im really looking forward to!
