ATM didn't give my my money!!!

I'm really just venting and wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what your experience was with the bank. I went to the ATM at lunch this afternoon. This particular ATM was my bank's ATM machine (First Tennessee). I wanted to withdraw $200. I inserted my card, pulled it back out, entered all the information as usual and it took a little longer than usual to process but then the message "transaction complete" came up followed by a "temporarily out of service" message, and no money, no reciept :sad2: . I called the bank to let them know what happened and they told me that my account did show that it deducted the $200 and to check back tomorrow to see if it would show back up on my account. If it has not then I need to go to the bank and fill out a dispute form.
Apparently they will have to check the ATM to see if it is over by $200.

Nowadays, with DH's hours cut back, $200 is quite a bit of money to us.

I was just wondering if anyone else had ever experienced this and if it was resolved in your favor :confused3

Thanks!

Happened to me at BOA, they were very good about it. I called the number on my ATM card as bank was closed at time. Went to bank and they immediately put $$ back in my account.
Dont delay, follow thru and document EVERYTHING as to when you called, who you spoke with and then go to bank directly and have THEM do leg work.
Best of Luck! :grouphug:

add me to the list... mine was about 9 years ago and thanks goodness it was only 20.00 because the bank wanted to fight with me over that i did get it and i never did. It was also a third party atm... i ended up loseing that 20.00

OP no advice but just wanted to say HI. :yay: I'm in Murfreesboro and I work at the VA Hospital.

Not quite the same, but recently I took out 200 from the ATM. It gave me 9 $20 bills and 1 $10 bill. I walked into the branch and showed them the cash. I They did take my name and contact information. What is even more amazing is that I was using my ATM card for another bank so they could not even check that I had pulled out $200 from my account. It was commerce bank and I was very impressed that there was zero hassle factor.

OP here checking in...

I did as instructed this morning and went to the First Tennessee bank and checked my account balance at the ATM. I was very surprised to see that the $200 had been credited back to my account

A very happy ending... :cheer2:

Thank you for all of your replies, you really helped me calm down yesterday when I was freaking out :scared1:

I had this happen one time, but the machine kept my card, said I took the money and shut down. I didn't even have my card to get money at another machine. And, it was on a Saturday night!

I called a friend that was a head honcho at the bank and let him know what was going on. He said it happened occassionally and not to worry. I got my card and money back the following Monday.
