From Atlanta I-75 to Disney are there any exits that need to be avoided ie scary exits.

thanks brooke

Yes from the time you hit Atlanta to the time you see signs for Henry county. Once you are in Henry county the exits get better.
Avoid stopping at any Atlanta, or Clayton co. exits if you can.

From a person who lives in Atlanta, I do not agree. However, you are entitled to have your own opinion.

brooke 1, just be cognizant of your surroundings at any exit you ever stop at.

I agree with AlexTurner74. Be aware of where you get off. Do not get off on Spring/North exit unless you plan on eating at the Varsity! Many people have gotten off there to eat and have not been heard from again due to the complexity of trying to return to the interstate(that may account for the high homeless rate). I live 140 miles north of Atlanta but I regularly go to Atlanta for business or meetings. And Henry County? What's so scary about Henry County? My wife is from Stockbridge(Henry County). Nothing scary about that. If you're so scared of Atlanta and Henry County, maybe you ought to stick to I-95, DNSDisney.

Deafmedic- maybe you should reread my post. I didn't say Henry county was scary. Said once you get into Henry the exits are good. Actually it would be quite difficult for me to stick to I-95 since I live in the Metro Atlanta Area and have for at least 30 of my 40 God given years! Born and raised here, a live Georgia native, 6 generation as a matter of fact. Downtown doesn't bother me but for an outsider it could be dangerous, scary, and downright over whelming. And to list all the areas to avoid would be a very long list so to just save time avoid it all together. Actually best would be to go I 285 to I- 675 less traffic and you get to the far end of the south side sooner. Also for anyone that ever gets lost in Atlanta, just keep going toward the Bell South Building (West Peachtree st. )and you will be one street away from the interstate and the varsity. Just follow the signs to 75/85 south or north and you are set.

Actually, I find the HOV lanes to be a blessing. Going thru 285 then 675 isn't too good. When you hit Lawrenceville in Dekalb County, it can be worse than Atlanta during peak rush hour.

I need your help again, I am coming from Birmingham al via I-20 east, i am looking at a new map and cant find I 285 and I 675 please help.

thanks again

285 is the perimeter highway that runs in a circle around Atlanta. Coming from Alabama on I-20, you have two options.

1. When you get to 285 (after Six Flags, before Atlanta), you can go South, and take it about a 1/4 of the way around to 75, then go South. You will pass 85 and the airport before you get to 75.

-OR-

2. Take I-20 all the way into Atlanta, then go South on 75/85 (they are joined together in the city). Stay on 75 once they split, which happens before the airport.

Both are about the same distance, but depending on day and time one may be quicker than the other.

Brooke
Alex is correct. When coming from BHAM those are the two ways to go. Personally I would oped for the 20 to 285 south to 75 south, no matter what time of day you go thru. That is just my personal opinion.Even during the busiest part of the day you shouldn't hit traffic going that way until you near the airport on 285. Coming from that direction if you want to stop in Douglasville, Lithia Springs, Carrollton, Breman, Villa Rica, Temple or even the Mableton exits are mostly nice. I would suggest NOT stopping at the Fulton Industrial exits or Six Flags exits for many reasons. Those are very busy exits and Fulton Ind. has never been what you would call a CLEAN area. If you want to stop to grab a bite I would suggest the Hwy 5 exit in Douglasville, or Chapel Hill RD in Douglasville, those are Arbor place mall exits and have many rest. choices there , from Mickey D's to O'Charlies. I was raised out in Douglasville so i know that route and area very well. Any thing you would like to know about any of the exits, just ask.

285 to 675 is best for those coming down 75 or 85 from north of city.

Wrong answer again, DNSDisney..........apparently you've never been on 285 heading to 675 during peak rush hour. There are no HOV lanes in Dekalb County on those routes. I constantly have to go to GBI Crime Lab from north Georgia. Which direction I take depends on what time of the day I hit the area. Sometimes I go straight thru 75 to 20 and other times I go 285 straight.

He is right...I would stay away from FIB area and most of I-20 area.

In other words it comes down to this......depends on the time of day you are approaching the area.

LOL. This thread reminds me of a trip I made back from VA to CT with my two DSs. We got stuck for 3 HOURS in traffic in NYC on I-95. Of course, they both had to use the bathroom!! AARRGGHHH!! I told them to hold it, or pee in a cup (thank God their boys) there was no way I was gonna get off the interstate in the Bronx. I kept on thinking of that Emilio Estavez movie where a bunch of friends in a motorhome tried to find a shortcut around a traffic jam in order to make it to a basketball game, and they ended up getting chased by a gang of thugs.
