Well, I am over here in Augusta, well, Grovetown. I don't know about our area schools (Richmond and Columbia County), but my husband is a teacher in Jefferson County (Louisville -- 45 mins away from us) and this afternoon he received a call that they were cancelling school for tomorrow in case of ice....as well as the fact that a lot of teachers employed in Jefferson live up here, so there may be issues for teachers getting to work. LOL!

Hubster told DD that they both get to stay home from school (her -- daycare) tomorrow.

Saty safe up there, my in-laws and thr rest of the hubster's family are East/West Cobb(ers) and Marrietta people.

Wow, snow mixed with sleet coming down in buckets! We are in Georgia about halfway between Atlanta and Augusta. Our schools were cancelled two hours ago.

My husband went to a meeting and isn't home yet. I'm not too worried because he grew up in Niagara Falls, NY. I will feel better when he gets home. Looks like power outages are a real possibility.

We live in west central GA near the Alabama line and it's been sleeting here since 5:00 this afternoon. DD had to go to work at 4:30 and thankfully her boss let her off at 7:30...she said the roads were already pretty slick and she slid several times coming home. I'm just glad she made it home safely.

We're all set here with plenty of firewood and enough food to feed an army.

Stay safe everyone. :goodvibes

The sleet started around 6:30 and now it's all snow. Stay safe and warm, everyone!

Well, we're getting nothing but ice. It's been sleeting for 3 hours now. The kids are disappointed; they wanted to build a snowman and throw snowballs. Throwing ice balls isn't exactly the same thing. :upsidedow

We have nearly an inch of ice on our deck. I have no idea what the roads are like, but I'm supposed to work tomorrow, so I hope it warms up enough during the day for me to get in at 3pm. I *have* to be there. DH's work has already closed for tomorrow though, so he can stay home with the children. :goodvibes

My sister's in Mableton, and she said it started snowing about an hour ago. She said the ground is now white at her house already!

it was sleeting earlier, but now it's turned to snow! holy cow, it's really coming down! everyone please stay home and be safe!

We're in Birmingham and getting nothing but sleet. Hope it turns to snow soon. If I have to stay home from work I at least wanna play in the snow!

Snow is falling, schools are canceled and we are ready. We went to the store to get milk, eggs & bread. I just want to make sure we have the proper ingredients for the traditional snow day meal of omelets & french toast. Based on what the grocery store looks like what people in Ga eat every time it snows. :lmao:

Icy mix is hitting Augusta........

BTW I did my grocery shopping on Friday. We are stocked.

I'm just south of Gainesville, GA and we've got nothing so far. Waiting with bated breath....

I hope everyone's power stays on and everyone is warm and safe.

We started with the ice/freezing rain a few hours ago and now it's very lightly snowing. According to the weather channel it's going to snow all night but we shall see. School is cancelled for tomorrow. Dh has a 2 hour work delay, for now. I'm praying he is told to stay home between now and the morning. He can drive in snow, it's the ice and the other drivers who are local and have never driven in this before that scare me.
