At WDW and having trouble with DAS

There is just no way that Disney can make the lines shorter than 15 minutes just for you, sorry. :( I would stick with Character meals for meet and greets if she cant wait standing in a line.
How do you.manage waiting for anything and everything else in your life? Certainly the wait can be longer than 15 minutes! Being in a Car for example. Did you fly: there is lots of waiting in that. How did you.manage the line at disney Security? Probably the transportation to the Parks took 15 minutes or longer....
Hopefully you can get some things accomplished but there is no DAS accommodation to impatience (autism-based or not).

I'm going to try not to be snarky and see this as a teaching moment, cause even Disney offered this little nugget in their defense... You got to the Park so you must be able to wait.

I feel this suggestion comes from lack of contact with persons severely impacted by autism. Yes, our families do have to wait. We wait at the doctor's office....bring all kinds of fidgets, videos, headphones and for my family at least STILL end up with Security being called. Yes, we ride in a car.... but you may not be aware of how often the seat is kicked, things are thrown, hair is pulled, eyes scratched, one of us is bitten. You probably haven't had your ears bleed after a full screaming meltdown...or walk around on a daily basis with claw and bite marks. My guess is your child has never knocked you out or sent school staff to the hospital.

Oh and at least for me, the very thought of flying would be a nightmare. Yet my kid LOVES WDW. He doesn't say "mama" but can say "Disney". We even joke that I need to get a job at Disney so we can go all the time.

My point, though, is that this suggestion that "hey, you wait all the time" so you can wait here, is really just not helpful as it lack full understanding of what waiting in the real world involves. It's kind of like telling a Diabetic bodies produce insulin, so you don't really need that injection.

I am always surprised at how conversations often go over DAS accomidations. Yet little or nothing is said about the riderswap system. Some people are abusing riderswap (especially larger famlies or groups) having found a way to get almost unlimited fastpass access all day (on all height requirement rides). I won't go into details, but I have sadly seen detailed posts on how it is done and how it can be stacked and even allows for using the fastpass of the non riding child to gain more entry.. . :-( ... But mention a more needed accomidation for someone on DAS and all heck can break loose.

I think it's important to point out that most discussions here on DISboards about DAS relate the general accommodation provided by DAS. It is often mentioned that if DAS doesn't work, go back to Guest Relations and explain the specific challenges you have faced even with DAS. Specific situations, especially for one or two attractions, can be worked out with Guest Relations and is stated on their website and mentioned here on the disABILITIES forum. @SueM in MN and I have asked that such situations and accommodations not be discussed in detail here because 1) it pertains specifically to your party and the dynamics of the parks at that time and it may or may not be available to the next person in exactly the same manner, and 2) the more detail of special accommodations/requests are shared, the more likely it is to be abused, and the less likely the accommodation will actually assist those whose needs require such.

I am glad to see the OP as well as others here have been able to do just that -- go to Guest Relations and discuss specific situations where the DAS was not working for their party and receive additional assistance. Since the OP's trip is over and they did receive accommodations to help make their trip more successful than it started, I am going to close this thread before it derails.

Again...if DAS is not working for your party, go to Guest Relations to discuss exactly where/when/why/how that didn't work. They may be able to work with you for some specific situations.
