I think we need to go September when we normally go or earlier in October so we don't have those crowds (plus I would like it a little warmer than you had it).
Enjoy your last day; be safe driving home.
Call me when you get home and are adjusted to the real world.
Mark sends a kiss; and give Todd a kiss for me.
Hi Nicki!
I am finally back and all caught up!
How fun you ended up at VN several times! The food there is good, isn't it? Guess I'll drop my La Hazienda ressie in favour of VN (again)!
I think Todd would have been thrilled to eat there ever single day!
So sorry about that crummy meal at CG! We don't usually order the filet or chicken there, and our meals have always been spot on! But then we usually go at a later time, right before the fireworks (when they are early), so that the family with kids will leave shortly after and the noise dies down.
I dont know why I went with the chicken, maybe because it sounded so good? If we go back I say we get nothing but appies and starters LOL
Cape May looks good, are there characters for dinner? We both don't really enjoy buffets and if there are characters as well ...........
No characters for dinner but the food was just incredible! It is the only dinner buffet we will go to
All those Christmas treats brought back so many happy memories of our Christmas trip! Thanks for all the photos!
Glad it put a smile on your pretty face!
I cannot believe it's all over again! PLEASE, try to plan a trip again real soon? What about President's Day weekend? Not that I am selfish or anything, but it is only 90 days away!
I don't want you to go home yet! I'm enjoying the reviews too much! But I can't blame ya for wanting to get out of there with those Thanksgiving crowds coming in.
Trust me, as much as we wanted to stay the holiday crowds were just horrid!
Now you have the Cape May dinner on my list. It wasn't something I was every particularly excited about before (seafood on a buffet? sounds dangerous) but since Miss DRE said it was good....it must be so!
It was the best, so say Miss DRE so say us all!
Fultons looks yummy too. I almost made an ADR there for December since the friend I'm traveling with is from Missouri and doesn't get a chance to eat good seafood much. But since we're going to the Tampa area as well, I figured we could get good seafood a lot cheaper there!
I can't believe it's over! Than you so much for taking the time to share your vacation with us and for being so darned entertaining.
Have a safe trip home!
Well, at least Fulton's was good. I never knew this before, but apparently, in many parts of the country, schools are out the entire week of Thanksgiving. I know a lot of parents will pull their kids out, regardless, but all the T-day crowds make sense.
We found that out too...a lady in line informed us of that.
I can't believe its over, either. Or that you and Kathy are wrapping up your reports at almost the same time! And, for the record, I'm with Karin....a few days in February might be really nice!
Wow, Nicki...now I HAVE to try Fulton's!! Perhaps THAT should be the restaurant DH and I go to on our date night in 2012! It's crazy huh? Planning dinners for summer 2012! Maybe we should go there on date night, take the kids to Flying Fish, Citrico's and Bluezoo, and skip Yachtsman? I told you...I will change my mind 1,000 times between now and the 180-day mark when I will be on my computer at 5am waiting for the site to allow me to make our ADRs! And then I will second-guess myself and all the dining decisions a couple of dozen more times before the trip...if I'm lucky!! Luckily though, we go for 10 nights, so we could get away with going to all these places and still have plennty of time for a few character meals for the boys!
For a Dis freak like me, planning into 12 is not crazy at all! My ideal trip would be Citricos, VN, Fultons, FF, Bluezoo, Il Mulino, The Wave, Cape May Clambake and breakfast, SAI lunch...ooh maybe I should get planning?
Your review of Cape May dinner was very nice. Like I had said before, we can't go there because of my son's allergic reaction. But...the allergist says there is a really good chance he will outgrow the allergy, and we decided to test him again in 5 years when he is 10 years old, and then once again around the time he enters high school.
When I was a kid I was allergic to eggs and outgrew that..thank goodness! Nothing I love more than eggs!
The crabs at Fulton looks so good but then I like the fried lobster (I didn't know its not on the menu)...if I want that I just asked for fried lobster. We are going to go for lunch and I'm hoping to be able to order dinner things.
Safe driving and can't wait what Todd wanted to eat for breakfast.
I love reading this report. The pics are great and you have me LOL. You guys are a hoot!
Hi Nicki,
Just getting caught up with your reviews. They are great and I love all the pics. I ate at Calif Grill twice. My dinner was delicious the first time I ate there, so we went the next year and this time my dinner was inedible. I don't eat meat, so they made some sort of vegie lasagna, that was awful. Haven't been back since. We love Cape May. Always had great food there and we're going back in May. Thanks for taking the time to share your reviews!! You guys sound like you had a great time!!
Joan
Your crowds really describe what our vacations are like since we can only travel in summer, Thanksgiving & Christmas times. DTD sounds like a nightmare. YIKEs... Loving the reviews!!!
Great reviews, even changed some of our ADR's due to some reviews.... Via Napoli... hehe
Hope you had a great last day and safe trip home!!!! Thanks for sharing the week with us. I always look forward to your live reviews!!!!! If I could, I would definitely do the same but I only have a crappy cheap cell phone. Of the three Via Napoli meals, how many did you have an adr for? I'm thinking once half of our party returns home that maybe I can convince the adult sons to try this place (walk up of course). They are pretty plain pizza people so I think the pepperoni pizza would be safe for them to try. I can't wait to return to the world and only hope some of our meals are as good as yours. Again, thanks for taking the time out of your busy week to share it with us. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Your reviews are awesome! Thanks for taking us along. I might now have to try that cheese Danish - and Fulton's looked awesome!
I have friends who were there with you last week who said on Sat it got nuts. It was tough because their kids got used to walking on Wed and Thurs and then BAM!
I'm so sad it's over.. hope y'all are having a good day at work.
For our upcoming trip I might need to ask for some of your favorites!
Oh, oh. What did Todd do now?
Hi Nicki,
I'm happy to hear that you had a safe trip home! It's going to be hard to get back to reality. It always is for me. Thanks again for the great reviews. It was really fun reading them. I'll look forward to your next trip reviews!!
Joan
Can't wait!
So sad that your journey has ended....although it sounds like you have some more interesting tales to tell
Someone else recently mentioned in their TR that Fulton's service was uber quick. They ordered and 2 minutes later they had food....I need to digest between my several course of food I put down
I think I would have been ready do hightail it out of there too with all of the crowds
Tracy
Looking forward to the update!
Hm, waiting for the news!
Glad to hear that you made it back home safe and sound!
I can't wait to find out how your last day went.I have loved every minute of your reviews. My DH will be so glad your home because I have been slacking in the laundry department...so what did you have for dinner your first night home
Glad to hear you're back safe and sound. So sad that your trip is over, though. Who do I have to live vicariously through now? Thank you for taking us all along on your trip!
I'm ready!
Hi there!! Great report. We just got back today and it seems we were at the same place alot of the time It really was a great week, wasn't it..great weather, crowds, just amazing
Well, nuthin' like showing up at the 2 minute drill of the 4th quarter, but I just got ALL caught up. (Who needs sleep? ) This was the MOST amazing DR I've read! Absolutely fab. I'm thinking I did a REALLY stupid thing by dumping my VN ressie! Probably too late now. I'll keep checking the online system. Or better yet--take your DH and have him secure a table!
Hello goddess of food porn!
I'm a long time lurker and big time appreciator of your reviews... But your pictures from Via Napoli inspired me so much that I absolutely had to comment.
Holyyyy, that entire meal looks amazing. I was a little wishy-washy on the ressie after some less than favorable reviews, but after hearing your glowing comments and seeing those mouthwatering pictures... We're keeping it!
Thanks again for all your picture-taking and reviewing! I really appreciate it!
EDIT- Just saw that you went again for dinner.... Feeling even more confident about my decision to keep this ressie!
Wow, Nicki, what a great report this has been. I am so sorry that CG wasn't good for you guys. I have found it to be inconsistent. First time great, next two eh, then last year was phenomenal. That filet did look fatty. Yuck. I think appys and starters sound good. Love those flatbreads and maybe that would even give you some room to try sushi!! (I'm with you, btw. Haven't had the nerve to try it yet myself....)
I do think we will go back on day and I would love to just do the appie thing and start with tempura shrimp sushi...that sounds safe enough
Cape May looks great. We've done the breakfast (several years ago) but never the dinner. Being from the North Shore of Boston, I don't consider the steamers and crab legs to be as rare a treat as some, though I do still enjoy it! I also find that I don't like Florida lobster at all (as in, the GF Cafe lobster eggs bene and the lobster and scallop pie at the Ireland F&W stand)....too chewy! Is the fried lobster at Fulton's cold water lobster or warm? Just curious, as I'd like to try that out one of these days, too. I've always heard great things.
I am a NS kid too, grew up in Saugus and went to Gloucester, Ipswich and Essex constantly for seafood....WOODMAN''S BABY!! When I take Todd up there for a visit he has a seafood coma The lobster tails at Fultons are Austrailian tails and they are just as tender as can be, reminds me of The Village in Mass.....sooo good!
Glad you are home safely, but sorry about being back to the grind. Re-entry is no fun
Looking forward to more deets and more pictures!!
Your adoring fans are patiently waiting for the next chapter.
Ha ha funny lady...I know I know, I have to get on it! Hopefully today, I loaded the pics to photobucket last night so if it was slow at work I could do our AK day
