I have been watching air fare since we booked the cruise in april were heading to the British Isles
so what I first found was on AA leave chicago at 6pm arriving London 750am picked my seats then coming home
I was planning on leaving London at 225pm I get all the way to the payment page and it wouldnt take my card it said to
use another form or payment-
so now Im freaking out
I did call the bank and they put a decline on it thinking it was fraud since weve never flown on AA so she cleared everything and told me to try again while she was on the phone
same message--she said to use a different browser and since I had no clue what she was talking about for what its worth I was on chrome while all this was going on I cant remember what the other thing is I sometims use but in trying that I had to start over

I was starting to get flustered since this is the first time the fare has come down and I didnt want to miss the price
she said she could call me back in 20 minutes to see how I was doing Im sure she could tell I was flustered

so I started over--but I messed up with picking the time coming home--I was planning on the 225 but by mistake hit the next button which is for 335 on British air
but now this will work out better cause I was told to pick a flight 3 hours before for international which means wed have to be at the airport by 1235 and thats with getting off the ship and taking the disney transfrers back to heathrow if I remember right its quite a drive from the port to the airport so now I feel much better
I still have to call BA to get our seats-but that should be nothing compared to today
the person from the bank was just terrific--and yes she did call back
sorry for rambling but when I get stressed I tend to ramble

All’s well that ends well. Enjoy your European cruise!

Sounds like a smart choice to give you a bit more time to make it the airport from Southampton!

Glad it worked out, but that's really strange about the card.

I don't know how long it takes to get to Heathrow from where your ship docks, but we were booked on a 6 pm flight from Heathrow when we returned from our Baltic cruise. We docked at Dover. We had been thinking about maybe trying to get the earlier flight (3 pm). We got to the airport around 1 pm. Turns out that the 3 pm flight was fully booked so we wouldn't have been able to get it anyway but anything earlier than 3 pm and it would have been really tight, so I think you probably did the right thing, even inadvertently, by booking after 3 pm.

I just checked and Southampton is about 2.5 hrs to London. So now I’m super glad how this played. I would have been freaked out we’d miss the flight. That would have been tight. We are on Disney transfer to the airport

I had that happen last year when booking a trip to Barcelona/Paris. Not buying the flights or the hotel rooms in a foreign country, or making dinner show reservations. Nope, my credit card (the one I use for many Disney related purchases), put a fraud alert on when I tried to buy tickets to Disneyland Paris. Of all the things it could have flagged, I found it hilarious that a Disney thing is what flagged on my card.

Easy to resolve, of course, but I have had it happen when my card declined due to a fraud alert for a purchase in another country.

Disney told me to book a flight after 2:15pm when using their transfers from Southampton. I chose the 5pm flight over the 2:30one as I thought it was cutting it too close. I think you did well with your flight pick!

It should be less to Heathrow though. The National Express bus from Heathrow to Southampton is 1hr 45 min with 2 stops.

I think Disney is accounting for possible traffic. It took us three hours to get to Dover last year due to an accident on the highway.

Oh definitely! I was just saying that with no traffic it's less than 2.5hr TO Southampton ... might be more going the other way. I booked a 5pm flight home as I wasn't comfortable with the 2:30 one,

Our trip is next week. I booked the bus from Heathrow terminal 5, and coming into the Southampton bus depot on Harbour Parade. Taking Disney transfer back to Heathrow after the cruise.

Great! From the Southamptom bus depot, Can you walk or taxi to the Dream?

I’m not sure if this or you have addressed this yet, but I see you have posted a lot and don’t mind extra advice so I just wanted to add - since it seems your CC has very good preventative measures on fraud, make sure to give them a call and let them know that you will be traveling out of the country from X date to Y date so that they do not put a hold on your card while you are over there. If they did place a hold, it may be a hassle to call them to explain while you are out of the country and you may have to deal with extra fees from your cell provider and I’d like to help a fellow DIS-er out! :)

I am a little neurotic and OCD and like to be in control, so we (Mom and myself) travel with two CC’s (from different companies) just in case our main one decides to decline even though we call ahead. So just a suggestion that it could be a good idea to travel with an extra CC too.

Sorry if you have already addressed this, just ignore if that’s the case! :) Have a great trip!

Thanks mother daughter for the great advice. And yes I can always use any extra advice anyone is willing to share. To be honest we already let the bank know when we’ll be gone. Good advice for taking an extra Cora CC. You just never know.

When we were in Germany & Austria last year, they still put a hold even after calling and letting them know we would be out of the country and we had to call again. Just a heads up, but it wasn’t a big deal! Resolved quickly! :)

Probably a taxi to the ship if going straight from bus depot. We're spending 2 nts in Southampton before the cruise. Walking a half mile to our hotel (Moxy) from bus stop. Not sure how we're getting to ship yet. Probably a taxi, maybe walking... depends on what it looks like when we get there

It’s a bit of a walk from the coach station and it’s 4 lane traffic down towards the dock so probably need to cross the road a few times. If you travel light I’m sure it’s doable! But I wouldn’t have done it with our luggage (4 cases between 3 of us), I would definitely get a taxi if you have a decent amount to carry. One thing is our cars tend to be smaller on average than the US so if you have a lot of luggage it’s worth booking ahead if you can - or at least leave enough time to wait.
