Can someone answer some questions for me about asmu?
Which rooms are considered prefered. Does anyone have a map that shows this? I thought I had seen it somewhere. Is it worth paying the extra $15/ day for prefered? :confused3 Also, which rooms have king beds? Thanks for your help.:lovestruc

The preferred rooms are in the Calypso buildings (the first two buildings closest to Melody Hall--where the food court is & the buses run from). As far as the king beds, I'm not sure which rooms have them, or how to make sure you get a king bed vs. 2 doubles.

Many have said that the other buildings for ASMu are pretty a good walk to Melody Hall. This I don't know because we were in a fam suite, which are in the Calypso buildings. I do know we never ventured to the back of the resort, and just last night DH asked "What value has the piano pool?" :rotfl: The piano pool is the quiet pool at the back of ASMu... all we ever saw was the main pool.

Others have said that if you want a smaller/closer proximity value without having to pay for the preferred room, to go with Pop Century.

Handicapped accessible rooms have king beds. If you request one and there are no handicapped guests during your stay you might get one but it is not guaranteed in the value resorts.

Is preferred worth it? We requested back of the property in Sept but were given a preferred room in Calypso, 3rd floor, handicapped king room (we did request the king). It was kind of nice being a short walk from the food court when we got back at night and could fill our mugs with whatever, but we don't eat in the food court so that was the only perk. Not worth $15 to me, but the king bed is, so it was a trade-off for us. If you eat in the food court a lot, drink a lot and have refillable mugs (that you purchased new on this trip, of course, because re-using them is distinctly unpatriotic), then it might be worth the extra. We're the type that generally prefer to be as far away from the front as possible in hopes that it will be less noisy and busy.

Thanks for the answers to my questions!!! That is what I was wondering. So basically in the value resorts there is no way to guarantee that we would have a king bed. I don't really mind the extra walking, but Dh is pretty set on having a king bed. I guess We would have to stay at a moderate and pay for the king bed to gurarantee it.
