Hi all,

Are the ashore times listed in the cruise itinerary local island times?

I’m assuming they are but wanted to confirm. We just had to switch our plans for a day that we will now be visiting St. Maarten instead of Tortola. Our ashore time there says 830 and the tour we just booked with Soualiga has an arrival/meet time of 930. I just want to make sure we should be good to get there in plenty of time.

Thanks as always for the help,

Kelly

As always, your milage may vary. However, on our first, and so far only, cruise the times were all listed as port local time. Reminders were left in our stateroom about resetting clocks when we crossed time zones.

Rarely, but weather can be a factor in changing these times. In a tendered port, rough seas can change everything...like the whole day.

Yes, times listed are always in the local time zone at the port. A late arrival or delayed clearance to go ashore can happen, so that’s a small risk compared to booking a DCL port adventure. However, an hour most likely provides a sufficient margin. I don’t think Philipsburg, St. Maarten is a tender port, so that’s one less concern.

It sounds fine as long as the ship is not running late. On our Fantasy cruise last year, the ship was an hour or so late to Tortola, so all of the DCL tours to Virgin Gorda were cancelled. Be sure that your tour operator provides full refunds in the case of the ship running too late for you to be able to make the tour.

Also, a lot of the people on those Soualiga expeditions will also be from the Fantasy so if the ship is late Bob & company won't be racing out without you.

Thanks all! I think I'll send Captain Bob an email just to find out his policy if for some reason we docked later than expected. Also, I believe his day tour was based on an earlier all aboard time so I'll let him know of that we're scheduled to be on St. Maarten until 6:15pm just in case that changes things.

So excited!

You're probably best off still getting back 4 o'clock or so. There is a free ice cream at the end of your trip at the Dutch cheese shop (or there has been), then a 15-minute walk back to the ship. For anyone with early dinner, that leaves just enough time to get pirate-presentable for 5:30 seating.

Good point about early dinner. Thanks so much for the info. Ice cream sounds awesome

A lot of people mention it on TripAdvisor. If I have to pay at a Dutch cheese shop, tho, it is still happening. Because Dutch dairy products rock.
