Ash the Shubman/DISAddict dares to Dream of a Double Dip

I'm a newbie, so this is my first Ashman experience. I'm going with A+!

I loved the video of your girls. You are awesome parents! Keep it coming!!!!

Okay so my wife decided to make some Mickey Tye Dye shirts this week. My girls had some friends over and they jumped in on the fun. So step one was to wrap the shirts up in rubber bands, the look kinda like a Pork Tenderloin! MMMMMMM food *drool*, oops I'm sorry where was I OH YEAH the shirts:

Then applied the dye:

Then, wrap the shirts in Saran Wrap and set for eight hours:

Then, wash, rinse, and viola! Mickey Tye Dye Shirts! We probably will be wearing these shirts to the terminal!

Bags are packed, ready to go, I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight be we are as ready to go as we are going to be! Barring unforeseen access to the internet this will be my last post pre-trip thus bringing the Pre Trip Report to a close. Thank you to those who have joined me for the ride thus far! To my fellow Dis'ers/cruisemates, travel safe, see ya real soon! For the rest of you, TTFN Ta Ta For Now! :lmao::cool1::rotfl2::happytv::woohoo::dance3:

I went to sleep last night pretty well but woke up at 3 AM! :scared1: I knew there was no going back to sleep at that time, so I got up and tooled around on the internet for about an hour. Afterwards, I took our dogs for a three mile walk. It is 6:15 AM, the car is packed the kids are dressed and we are getting ready to hit the road! See you on the flip side!

Have a fabulous time! Looking forward to your report...but don't want to 'rush' your vacation, so will wait patiently....... :rolleyes1

Okay if I were to give a theme or title to this trip it would be "Just When You Thought You Knew What Was Going On" I must confess that other than my cruise meet thread, I didn't spend a lot of time on the Dis prior to this trip. I was banking on previous experience. And well, um, well you'll just have to see how it all works out. So let's get started!

Day One

I wake up at 3, to early to do much of anything. I rarely can go back to sleep especially if I am anticipating something so I know I am toast at this point. I’m not going to be able to go back to sleep. If I stay in bed and toss and turn, I’m not going make my wife very happy. So I get up and walk the dogs three miles. Last big walk for them for a while.

The kids are up a little before 6, my bride a bit later. We get showered, dressed, and throw the bags in the car. A stop for gas, biscuits from Chick-Fil-A(I could eat there seven times a day) and we are on the road by 7:30 not too shabby.

It is a Saturday so no real traffic issues on the interstates we are buzzing right on through. NC gives way to SC. After Columbia we get on I-26 and stop at what has to be the busiest rest area, every parking space is taken, it is absolutely crazy!

Whew, let's take a break shall we, I'll be back with some pics in a bit!

Oh and Tink, while I admit I probably deserve that given my last report, don't think I didn't notice your little dig! YOU'RE ON REPORT LADY!

Just kidding, glad you're here!

We stop for lunch at a Subway in a little town just north of the Georgia border. At the rest stop/info center in Georgia, we get some info on Savannah and make our way to the historic park of the city. Once there, we see the famous fountain and some other neat sights. We spent about 90 minutes walking around. Here are some pics:

I would have loved to spent more time but it is hot enough to flatten out Mamma Odie's wrinkles so we head back to the car and hit the road. We just have a few more hours before we stop for the day but I’ve been driving a lot and I’m getting a bit punchy. (See video above)

As we near the exit for the hotel that we stayed at the last time we drove down, we see a sign for what looks like a similar chain five miles down the road. We decide to press on there besides, then we are 5 miles closer to the Dream! We pull off and I go in to ask what is the best rate for the room. It is a bit more than I though so I haggle with the manager a bit and get a better price. After we agreed, I felt like yelling PRICELINE NEGOTIATOR! But that would have been poor form.

Dinner is a Cracker Barrel, great as always and we then spend some time shopping at the outlet shops at St. Augustine. Most of the shops are a disappointment, the whole point of an outlet it is supposed to be cheaper, clearly not the case here. That said we find some great deals at a Croc store and the girls pick up some new shoes. By now it is 9 and I am BEAT, I’m ready for bed so we head back to the room and hit the sack.
