DH has headed back down the hill to our home. My furbaby and I are still up at the cabin. DH will be back up here Friday afternoon. I lived in Tahoe years ago for years and never had any close encounters with bears until two years ago at the cabin. The people in the front house had a party and left bags of garbage outside which everyone who lives in bear country knows you never do. Fast forward to the middle of the night. I am awakened with loud noises around our cabin. Someone/something is on our front porch but I can also hear noise on the other side of our place. I look out the kitchen window and see a bear! So now I know there are 2 bears! For some unknown reason I look out a window on the other side of the house. There is a wooden fence about 5 feet from the window and on the fence doing a very good tight rope walk is a third bear! The bears finally found the bags of garbage and totally enjoyed themselves. We watched them go over the fence and all was quiet. The next day we found out it was a mother and her two 2 year old cubs but they were big!

So the reason I've just told you all this is that I'm up here with my furbaby. Now because she is old she has to go outside in the middle of the night. I am a very funny sight going outside at night now .... porch light on, flashlight on, lots of noise opening the door, pot and lid to make lots of noise to scare away any bears that may be lurking around .... sure hope bears are really scared of loud noise!!!

I probably shouldn't be laughing, but I do the same thing when I'm here alone for a week....we live in a subdivision...no bears or anything else!

Please do be very careful!!! You are a much braver woman than I! We want you with us in January!!!

My mom, sister, brother and I went to the Cubs-Red Sox game. It was a short walk from my uncle's apartment. [/COLOR]

What fun!!! I missed that game on TV - who won? I can just hear my dad in heaven cheering (and who knows what else since it is the Cubs). As a Chicago native I cheer for both teams, but my dad was a Cubs fan all his life...but I am Red Sox fan since I lived in Boston for 39 years....it is my second home. Wish I could have watched that game...even better would have been with my daddy on Father's day.

Thank you! And, hope you're feeling better very soon! Yes, the matching shirts...I've gotten away with it for the past two trips...this time I think it's just going to be too darn hot to be matching all the time, so I only have one matching outfit. DH is happy about that.

I havent read through this whole thread yet, but I will. I came over from the WL thread. Kook thought I would fit right in. As I told her, we are going 12/15-12/22. I started out looking at AKL and WL. Then I actually booked POFQ, changed it to CR TPV, realized I could get a whole week at POP for the price of one night at CR, so changed it to POP, then my brother decided to join us so we needed queen beds so I switched to CSR. Now this weekend I started considering WL again. I made my ADRs yesterday and they are almost all at WL, Poly and CR. I really want WL, but trying to justify the extra $$ for the great location, beautiful resort, refurbed rooms, boat and MR access. And is this THE ONE...or will I fall in love with a different resort next month?? I have been super excited about each resort I was booked at. My name is Valerie, and I am a resort changer. This is my first time staying onsite too, so I think trying to pick the "perfect" place is adding to my confusion. So many great choices!!

For Deena, and Magic you could confirm....I heard Winter Park and Lake Mary are good for familirs. Safe, nice communities....not that I have asked around

I pray for Bree, I worry for Bree, but I know it will be OK. She has lots of love , and lots of prayers from her RC family....our Sept. trip is off. HRH is OK with that. With all the Bree stuff, school, just not a good time...

Posting from beautiful Lake Tahoe. We arrived Saturday afternoon after having a flat tire .... took 3 hours to get towed and fixed .... horrible heat ... my poor 15 year old malamute was having a rough time!

Silly little update from me:

Just put our deposit down for our little January jaunt... to AoA. We'll see how long that sticks I've kinda been reading up on WWoHP. I've also been trying to turn on my kiddo to the wonders of ol' HP. I have no clue about Universal though so I've gotta start reading up in I'm going to convince the hubs that we should try a day exploring WWoHP.

I vote yes to visiting the darkside (I hear they have cookies...at least that's what a tshirt said) AoA

I found out last night that I will have another niece/nephew! My niece turned 2 yesterday and I unfortunately missed her birthday party on Saturday due to work. DBF's sister gave her a necklace, that she had her mother-in-law put on her, that said "Big Sister". No one knew besides a select few people. Not even the grandparents knew. Everyone was so excited! It was such a cute way to say that she is pregnant. What's funny is that her cousin is also pregnant and they are due a couple of days apart. I cannot wait to meet my niece/nephew in January! I may not be an actual aunt because DBF and I aren't married, but I have known DBF's niece since the day she was born and I definitely consider her my niece and I love her to pieces.

I do hope that Jeanette is doing ok....

It was pretty fun. It was really exciting at first. Especially when both teams kept dropping the ball and making errors. The Red Sox ended up winning, but it was really close the first 3 or 4 innings. My mom and I wore Cardinal shirts and my brother wore a White Sox shirt. My grampa has season Cubs tickets and since my dad and my other brother weren't able to go, my sister and I tagged along so the tickets wouldn't go to waste. DBF is a Cubs fan while I'm a Cardinals fan. That's how it is with my parents too. My mom is a Cardinals fan and my dad is a Cubs fan. My brother who couldn't make it is a die-hard Cubs Fan and he goes to a bunch of games since he's like a 10-15 minute walk from Wrigley Field and gets all the freebie stuff. He's such a drok.

Thank you so much! I can't wait to find out whether they will be having a boy or a girl. They are really hoping for a boy. I'm going to be flooded with babies within a 5-ish month period. One of my cousins is due at the end of July, another is due at the beginning of October, another is due at the end of October and DBF's sister is due in the middle of January. I will hardly see my cousins' kids, but I know I will be seeing my niece/nephew at least once every couple of months or so!

Oh Sheila I hope you feel better! I find that as I age the H&H just bothers me more and more! So my advise is to stay inside in the cool with a cold drink and catch up on the DIS.

I do love the bears .... just not so up close and personal! My whole cabin (all one room of it) is decorated in a bear theme. I think my neighbors learned their lesson .... they haven't left any garbage out since then.

Welcome to our happy little thread! WL happens to be my favorite resort to stay at .... I think because it reminds me of my beloved Lake Tahoe and I feel so comfortable and at home there. No matter which resort I'm staying at I always find something to love about it. The only two left on my to stay at list are GF and Poly .... someday. But no matter where you end up at you're at WDW with family so it's all wonderful!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I had a funny story that you guys would appreciate more than anyone. When I called to add a night to our CSR reservation a couple weeks ago, I asked the CM if they keep track of all the changes that are made and he said yes. I said oh I'm sorry and he said don't worry some people make a lot more changes than you. So we finished up and I said thank you and I think I am all set now, no more changes. The CM laughed and said, "Ma'am, you still have 7 months left."
