As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi Everyone! Missed you, it's been awhile! DH and I have decided on trying our hand at our first Disney cruise on the Fantasy, oct 31-Nov 7, 2015. It's a 25 anniversary gift to us and we splurged and upgraded to concierge level on the ship. I'm somewhat regretting that now, as it was a $2500 upgrade, and originally we had a nice AFT room at the very back of the ship, but it's paid off now and no refunds on concierge rooms so we will make the best of the upgrade I of course can't visit FLORIDA without stopping at my favourite magical place!! So I booked BWI CL for us for Nov 7-11 after the cruise, and just yesterday added on nov 12 as well! (Not sure yet if we will keep the extra day as it was another $436 for the night) but right now it's on the reservation. In true RCer style, I've been waivering about other resorts such as BC CL and Our usual family favourite, AKL CL but so far sticking to BWI CL as it'll be nice to be in the Epcot area for food and wine festival I've never tried the BWI, so hoping it's a good choice for DH and I.
I'm also going back and forth on the ddp and adding it or paying OOP. It's a psychological thing I think just having it paid for! But we may be able to fare better eating OOP. Haven't quite figured that out yet!
I am very happy to be enjoying this trip with my hubby, it'll be interesting our first empty nest vacation!
Looking forward to sharing plans and hearing everyone's exciting news!

Holy cannoli, look at all the RCers at it today babyberger has a PTR in the works as well for her March trip....how do we post a link? You can't change your stateroom? That STINKS! Good to know though for future reference! BWI CL will be great!!!

Oh my goodness…So I have been chatting with a client about her upcoming trip and giving her some info on places to eat at the Poly… :-/ I am SO wavering now…But it's like $1000 upgrade to Poly CL from the Standard View at BWI…

I am wondering when the new pool will be open too (and what that means for the quiet pool which is scheduled to close when the feature pool opens up). Has anyone seen the plans for the new water splash area at Poly?

As far as changing last minute, sometimes the best rooms open up in those last 30 days when others start to cancel, and sometimes a CM may waive the change fee if it's related to construction. I find that Disney really does try to make magic happen, and if you don't get someone uber friendly, make an excuse and call back in 10 minutes...I will be stalking Tikiman webpage along with all the Poly peeps.

Thank you so much. You have calmed me down and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one stalking Tikiman. I think I'm going to wait it out...keep my Poly res and cross my fingers. If at 45 days we don't know more (March 19) which we probably won't I think I'll still keep my res and hope for the best. If at 30 days (April 3) I think I'll jump ship and pay the $50 if it's looking bad. I'm just so excited!! I wish, I wish. Regardless we'll have a good time!

BC is pricing out at $1600/night! And Contemp $1100, GF $600.

Pas DTD is a mess. Walls up everywhere. Went to eat at Cooks of Dublin one night, lots of walls up in that area. And their system was down. It was either cash, or they took down your resort & room # to Bill you later? So we went with option B since I had no cash. Couldn't use any kind of card, gift card, visa, nothing. I wonder if it was due to some construction oops. There were screens all around there.
We love their fish & Chips. It's always a must do.

New boat docks to POR at Marketplace are nice. Bus loop back to ️POR was confusing, we couldn't find ️POR stop. Poorly marked. So we missed bus wandering around. Was too cold to take boat!

I'm looking forward to seeing finished product. Should be nice. We took two trips to DTD. Other was to eat at EOS! Such a treat as we don't have them at home.

I've been following Tikimans web site and FB page for updates. He also posts on the Poly construction forum on Dis.
I think his best guest is April? Possibly May. But no one knows for sure. I think someone posted an artist rendering of new pool area today on the Poly Construction forum. I know I saw it somewhere this morning lol!
Once main pool is open East pool will close for construction. I'm not sure how that will affect Hawaii and Samoa, if they'll block those rooms facing construction or still book them. I'd be unhappy paying for CL prices especially and get a view over the construction!!

They will still book those rooms and that's why I cancelled Poly CL last summer, hence my dilemma. However, my son would love a construction view lol. There's like 5 building which face the quiet pool so it may affect more of the resort than the main pool in terms of GV rooms He posted on FB that they are a bit behind schedule. Hoping May the main pool will be completed for texasgingerbread

Texas and Pas, your trips are far enough away that I wouldn't give up on Poly! I'm feeling good about our switch to CR for Easter Weekend because that trip is so close and we just did 5 nights at Poly . . . but it's not over yet!

I'm so glad to read this, Jenny! We're staying at the Poly during Easter & I've been so worried that I made the wrong decision because of the pool. I'm gonna stay strong & keep the Poly!

All this talk of Poly reminds me it is on my 'bucket' list someday. I've wanted to stay there since my CP. Actually Orbitz had a great deal that I looked at but ultimately decided on Beach Club for those days as we really wanted to be close for SWW. I think we are set now on resorts. CBR first then BC then offsite for another week with a trip to Universal.

There was a joke on another thread about a "Golden Pillow" goal - like the Golden spoon- for people who have stayed at lots of resorts

I was at AKL originally in May but then we got an unexpected expensive so I've now changed our reservation to POR in August!! Waiting for one more change is free dining comes out and I can get a room at another resort (assumming POR will not be included).

We would love to stay at BC. I'm thinking we may pull the trigger for our 5 year wedding anniversary next year. You just cannot beat the convenience.
