I, too, had heard the warnings about the hordes of teenaged girls at the AllStars. However, when A/P rates of $49 came out in January and airfare had dipped to $99 RT from Boston, my family took a chance on ASMu and were pleasantly surprised! Yes, the dance teams, and cheerleading squads were all there but they were not unruly. In fact, my daughter enjoyed watching them practice. The pools were filled with children, not teenagers, which I would have preferred over un-potty-trained kids in little swimmers! The lifeguards take their jobs seriously so unruliness would not be permitted.
Since a resort is just a pit-stop between parks, for us, I cannot justify spending more for a moderate. ASMu has a better food court than PORFQ, IMHO, plus you can visit the other AllStars if you want variety. The bus service is excellent and I have heard from others that it is the best of any resort. I recently cancelled ressies at PR and AKL because the $700 I saved by spending all 10 nites of my upcoming trip in November at the AllStars will pay for a second trip (room only) in 2003.
We stayed in Broadway which is a pleasant walk to the Food Court, esp. through the rose garden/courtyard. Country Fair is also reported to be quiet. I would not personally book a preferred building because it means its closer to the action and the noise.
