Can someone tell me about the food here? I have seen the menu at allear.net and it seems very limited.
I am very picky- I don't eat seafood, mushrooms, or anything different like-buffalo, deer, etc...
I love filet mignon, italian food, cheese,
I ate at Jiko last time and absolutely loved it, the filet was one of the best I have ever had. We stayed at AKL.
We are staying at WL this time.
I like nice restaurants, good food, good wine,
Can any one give me food reviews?

We've been here twice now, and haven't really enjoyed either time. We go in with high expectations because of all the good reviews, and come out disappointed.

The one good thing we've had is the smoky portabello soup - that's a must have. Otherwise, we've had (and mostly been disappointed with) :

frisee salad
venison spring roll
pork chop
buffalo filet
chai tea cheesecake
flourless chocolate cake
Cypress Grove cheese plate
berry cobbler

I convinced FH to try the berry cobbler because of all the raves, but it wasn't any better than a blueberry muffin. :/ The only other thing I wasn't disappointed with was the cheese plate.

But the wine list is very nice, especially the choose-your-own sample flights.

On our December Trip we thought Artist Point was probably our best meal! We are heading back there in 1 month! :cool1:

I had a Salad that I did not like/ DH had the portobello soup that we both LOVED! I am getting that this next time.

Cedar Plank Salmon was marvelous (we split the plate)

Excellent wine list from our local region. We had been to many of the vineyards and knew just what we wanted. I think I will try the sampler in May though! ;)

We shared the berry cobbler which was good. But not what I had expected. I will be trying their chocolate dessert in May! :teeth:

DD loved the white chocolate dessert puzzle. Nice restaurant! Great service!!! So far our favorite restaurant, but we are trying many new ones in May so we will see if we have a NEW favorite.

If you don't like all the things you listed..Artist Point is not the place for you.

You may want to try flying fish..they also have a wonderful steak.

That is what I thought. I loved Jiko and many say it is different, but I loved the olive flatbread they have as an appetizer and the filet is the best I have ever had.
Artist Point does not seem to have any appetizers that are not seafood or mushrooms. I will not eat buffalo or venison.
I thought if the restaurant was that good, I could get a filet mignon or maybe some kind of chicken, but maybe we should skip it.
I am not into traveling to different resorts to eat, but will eat at the one I am staying at and in the parks. I guess I might have to go back to JIko for my steak, or I do like Le Cellier, but not as well.

We ate at Artist Point back in January
I had:
Mushroom soup-Very good
Cedar Plank Salmon-Loved it. Very fresh, perfectly cooked and piping hot.
3 course wine flight-Loved the red and the white, took the opportunity to try the ice wine. This is definately not for anyone who doesn't enjoy sweet wines.

Hubby had:
Mushroom soup-Loved it. He liked the fact that this is a very smooth soup, no bits of mushroom in it.
Hatfield Pork Chop-Loved the macaroni and cheese, pork chop okay, nothing special.

We shared the berry cobbler which we both thought was very good. I'm not big on dessert and this one is not super sweet.

It is unique - but they have "normal" stuff too. Like for instance, there's a pork chop dish that's delicious - it comes with maytag blue cheese mac n cheese. Grown up mac' and cheese really. Delicious. The salmon is good. I can't remember if they have a filet, I think they do. They have a great dessert...artist point berry cobbler. It's my fave at the world. Artist Point is a fantastic restaurant - great service and food. And atmosphere.

We went there for our aniversary dinner. There isnt a huge selection but the food was very good The venison spring rolls were spicy but good .I couldnt tell there was a game meat in them.

Don't rule out the Buffalo though if you like meat. While i have not had it at AP, DW and i were on vacation in Jackson Wy and i ordered it. I had to force my DW to try it, she was doing the kid thing shaking her head no ;) because she thought it would be gamey. Guess what she ordered for the rest of the trip. :rotfl:

I agree that the FF has a very nice strip steak, and Yachtsmans Steakhouse also has nice cuts.

I was worried about Artist Point too. I'm also a very picky, but my DH really would like to try the salmon there, so after looking at the menu I think I'll just have the plain grilled chicken from the kids menu and the cheese plate. Chicken and cheese, my favorite!
Disney usually will have no problem if an adult orders from the kids menu. I'm a small eater (but eat many meals a day) and Disney has always been accommodating

The filet (beef) at AP is very good. The mushroom soup is absolutely TO DIE FOR (and I'm kind of "lukewarm" on mushrooms) and the Berry Cobbler, well, it's awesome! You can't even compare it to a blueberry muffin :confused3 ...it's, well, a cobbler!!

Artist Point is a great restaurant...don't discount it!!

My husband and I really enjoyed Artist Point and will probably go back for our next trip! I had the Hatfield Pork Chop with Maytag Mac. I thought it was excellent. My husband had the cedder planked salmon and portobello soup and he had nothing but rave reviews. We also REALLy enjoyed the berry cobler and I think it became our favorite desert of the trip.

I suggest trying it.. I think you'll like it. There are some different foods, but nothing TOO fancy.

Has anyone ever had a filet at Artist Point?
I see they have a cheese plate and I love cheese and wine.
Can I order it for my appetizer not dessert?
Do they have many Rieslings? I love it and I know some good ones come for Washington and Oregon.

:jumping1: We loved this one but stuck to what they do best..the Salmon! It was great-perfectly cooked. And my DH had venison and really enjoyed it- but he likes game meat. I really liked the ambiance at this one. One that I would like to go back to but alas too many children now. :jumping1:

yes they have rieslings and some very good ones at that!! my favorite too!! ::MickeyMo

Yup, I always get the filet there...excellent!!!

I don't love Game Meat at all, but I gotta tell you, Buffalo Steak is INCREDIBLE.It's not remotely gamey. It's just a very good, rich beef flavor. Eat it no more than medium tho, or it can get tough (like any cut of beef IMHO)
We have gone to AP every trip since they opened just so I can have my Buffalo. We really enjoy AP. I have noticed some fluctuation in quality here & there, but on the whole, we have always enjoyed it.

The ceder planked salmon is wonderful too & I'm not normally a big salmon lover. DS is, tho & he just raves about it.
