We ordered the dolls in Nov and are still waiting also. Here is Pixie dust for all of us.We went to the AG store yeterday and bought that so the girls will be thrilled anyway but still it would have been nice to have it.

GOOD NEWS!!! The doll arrived today. My friend said she didn't get her whole order (missing some clothes), but the doll is there and intact, so she is happy !!!!!!! Thanks to you all for your prayers and pixie dust!!!...........Happiest of Holidays to all.........P

Yeah! So glad at least the doll arrived!! I think size 3-6 months will fit the doll...places like Gymboree or The Gap probably have sister outfits, and someone earlier in this thread gave a great link for matching outfits.

My DD does not like her my Twin. She complains that the hair is not right and the body is like that of a football player.

Also, my DD's 2 closest friends have American Girl dolls. I have seen the American Girl dolls and must say they are built better and are a little more realistic. The My Twinn Doll's body is just so odd and hard to buy any clothes for. I prefer the 18" doll better.

DD is getting an American Girl Doll for Christmas. I had asked her best friend Maddie what she thought Jill would like and so she told me the AGD.

My Twinn Doll Company Shuts Down
Roughly 100 Employees Laid Off

DENVER -- Colorado-based My Twinn Doll Company, which makes personalize dolls meant to resemble a child for whom the doll is ordered, ceased operations on Friday because of insufficient funds.

"We have faced significant challenges stemming from Holiday 2001. Specifically since the week of Sept. 11, 2001," the company said on its Web site.

Chief Executive Officer W. Kenneth Thiess told 7NEWS that the company had been doing well but it ran into problems when the My Twinn holiday catalogs arrived in homes the week of Sept. 10, 2001.

"The Sept. 11, 2001 tragedies and the resulting traumatic events, understandably, resulted in a dramatic decline in doll orders. The timing proved to have an extremely negative impact on My Twinn operations," the company said.

About 100 people who worked for the company were notified Friday that they no longer had jobs.

Customers who ordered dolls by Dec. 7 will get their dolls before the holidays, the company said. Any orders received after Dec. 7 will not be processed or will be refunded.

The company is pursuing efforts to find a buyer for the assets of the company, and discussions are underway with some interested parties.

My Twinn has been based in Colorado since 1995. Besides it unique dolls, the company also manufactures a number clothing and accessory items for dolls and children.

DD loved the doll, but did notice the 2 arms were not the same. I tried to brush that off...then after trying to get the doll to stand up we discovered the legs were 2 different lengths....one is maybe half an inch shorter than the other. At that point I explained that the doll hospital for My Twinn had closed, and even though Santa had brought the doll, My Twinn would have been the one to fix it.... She loves the doll and was okay with the flaws.....it is better than the 'no doll' a lot of little girls experienced, I'm sure.

I got word on the UPS tracking site that the box I had returned to My Twinn the day before they shut down had been refused by recipient. I guess those big pants are on their way back to me.

Yes, the shut down is unfortunate for the employees. A lot of CSRs are hired for the holiday period and don't expect to be working after the season. I wonder if any of that number included seasonal staff, or if all of those were full time, permanant employees.

My daughter came home this afternoon, to a notice in her mailbox saying she had a large package from MyTwinn at the Post Office (she has her packages held for her). They are closed until Monday, but it looks like my grand will have a doll after all. She is waiting to tell my grand, until after she opens it, in case there is anything wrong..but since none was expected, it's exciting news! It's prob too much to hope that the clothes were shipped with the doll..and that this is the doll, not just the clothes.

Our doll had its clothes shipped inside the box with it. I am happy to know that your granddaughter will get her doll.

Well, the doll has been opened. Luckily my granddaughter has moved on to othere things, because I don't think she will be seeing this football player, er doll. The arms are two different sizes, and it can't be glossed over. My daughter has to work it out with her credit card company now, since she won't be keeping it.

I had to chuckle. The dolls are kind of chesty, they look like they cut be a tackler in a football game in deed.


Sorry about the quality with the arms. Our doll has no physical defects, but the eye coloring and freckles are not right. You need a magnifying glass to see the freckles! What were they thinking. I read that only in the last 2 months that the dolls were being produced in China and the workmanship was not the same as the Denver made dolls.

I guess we are stuck with ours.
