Armed Forces Salute Room/Ticket Discount: 2011/12 (Spring Break Update)

Hoping for a little more help from ya'll, PLEASE! Can discounts/codes be combined? For instance, if I called in and booked 2 rooms with the military 40% discount, and a code comes out for free dining or I get a pin code- can I 'stack' the discounts somehow? What are the rules/guidelines for this?

Also, what are the details on not being able to book the DDP, is that for October 2011 only? Looking at traveling in January 2012- will I need to wait to add that until a later date? Thanks so much for your help- really wanting to do this trip, but needing to get it as inexpensively as possible since we just traveled there 2 weeks ago and the vacation budget is AWFULLY tight these days! Thank You!!

You can't combine codes. You can use the military rate OR free dining OR another code. Disney won't let you.

I can't help you with the DDP, I just booked it with the military rate...no idea about October. And they told me to wait until later this year to book for 2012 since we might ahve to move our trip.

No more than six (6) Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased and (if applicable) activated by any Eligible Service Member or spouse (regardless of the place of purchase and whether purchased by that person or that person's spouse), and all six (6) must be purchased at the same time. Accordingly, no Eligible Service Member (or spouse) may purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets at any military sales outlet if that person (or that person's spouse) previously purchased Disney Military Promotional Tickets (whether at that same military sales outlet or at any other military sales outlet or at any other place).

If this has changed, that needs to be updated.

Hmm- any guesses if the Free dining for 5A, 1C would be cheaper than a 40% discount @ Caribbean Beach for 2 rooms? I guess I can always book it with the 40% military code and change the code if DDP works out to be a better deal, right? Thanks again everyone!!

I've been trying to decide on that, too. We are planning on going in Sept/Oct 2012 & I booked our room yesterday at POFQ. They said that none of the military discounts (if there will be any) have been released yet for that far out, but that I could go ahead and reserve it as a package (tickets, dining plan, & rooms) and then call back and change it to room-only with the discount once it comes out.

Now I just have to figure out if the free dining (if it's even offered then) will be a better deal than the room discount. The dining plan has been driving me NUTS. :headache: Can't decide if it's worth it or not. At least I have plenty of time to change my mind (over and over and over...)

Mods get 35% off, not 40%. Have you tried pricing it out online? And, yes you can always switch to FD if it comes out and is available at your resort.

When we went in '09, getting 40% off rooms was a better discount than free DDP, but I guess it depends on the make-up of your party. We were 2 adults and 2 kids (under 9).

hth :)

This is my first time planning a Disney trip so forgive me if this is a silly question, but is this change a for sure thing? I called Disney and SOG to inquire and they told me nothing had changed for my trip in November.

For those who were wondering about booking dates for AoA, here is some info. from:

http://www.mouseplanet.com/9656/Walt_Disney_World_Resort_Update

You can book family suites in the Finding Nemo-themed section for arrivals starting May 31. Cars-themed family suites will become available for booking on July 31. Lion King family suites can be booked for arrivals beginning September 30. There's no word yet as to when the Little Mermaid-themed suites will be available, or when the Finding Nemo-themed standard rooms will open up.

Two possible explanations:

You're booked at/around Thanksgiving and those dates are blacked-out (excluded) from the discount:confused3

OR

You talked to two people who don't know about the extension. Did you give them booking code VV5?

I was able to get the 40% off the Poly for the week after Thanksgiving 2011 starting Friday the 25th. When I gave the CM the code VV5 he told me that was the code starting in 2012 but he found the code I needed. :confused3 Anyway, I was able to apply to all nights of our stay. We wanted WL but I was unable to get the category of room I wanted so I switched to the Poly and got garden view no problem.

I think you're going to love staying at the Poly. They must still be using the 2011 code VO4:confused3

That is the only thing I can figure too. We have stayed at the Poly...it is my favorite! My parents started me long ago on it and I have loved it since. I stayed in 2008 for the first time in 25 years and I still loved it as much as when I was a kid! :thumbsup2

As a former Hoosier (Bloomington), I invite you to join us over at the Poly thread.

Why thank you! I have checked out those beautiful pictures over there. Bloomington...my son went to IU for a year. Big IU fans in our family although my middle son had the nerve to go to Purdue! :lmao:

According to mousesavers the two time periods that are blacked out are the week after christmas and a week in april (easter break?).

I was able to book beach club for 11/23-11/27 at the disc rate. It's probably the CM or no rooms avail at that rate at whatever particular resort you are trying to book.

We're booked from 9/27-10/04. I booked before the extension. I asked if the discount had been applied to the whole reservation and they said it has. So the night of October 1st (Saturday), the room is $113 with the discount. On Sunday and Monday night on my reservation (Oct. 2nd and 3rd), the price is $164 a night. I looked at rack rate for a standard room at POR during that time and it's $174, so why does that seem wrong to me?

Then they said something about the military offer going from Oct 3rd-whatever date it ends in 2012 (I can't recall off the top of my head). I'm just trying to figure out if the discount is in fact applied or not.

the 113 sounds right
the 164 def doesn't
35% off the 174 it should be

As of last week, the CMs didn't have access to any blackout dates. They can tell you the price per night and then it's up to you to figure out if the date is blacked-out based on whether the discount has been applied or not. That's how I was able to figure out that December 26 - 31 was blacked-out because she quoted the rack rate for those nights. Might a seasonal rate change occur beginning on the Sunday of your trip?

Yes the rate goes up to $174 on weekends starting on the 1st. Oct 1st my rate is $113, that's a Saturday. Sunday (2nd) and Monday (3rd) are $169 each. So I got the discount through the 1st. The last 2 nights arent discounted, but even if they said the discount starts again on the 3rd, my rate for the 3rd should have been discounted but its not either. That's why I'm confused. They say the discount was applied to the whole stay but it isn't.
