Armed Forces Salute Room/Ticket Discount: 2011/12 (Spring Break Update)

Yes the rate goes up to $174 on weekends starting on the 1st. Oct 1st my rate is $113, that's a Saturday. Sunday (2nd) and Monday (3rd) are $169 each. So I got the discount through the 1st. The last 2 nights arent discounted, but even if they said the discount starts again on the 3rd, my rate for the 3rd should have been discounted but its not either. That's why I'm confused. They say the discount was applied to the whole stay but it isn't.

i just put in a reservation request to see what it told me
sat the 1st was 174
sun/mon are 164 each
you 100% didn't get a discount based on those rack rates at disney.com

So new to all of this so please bare with me... trying to pick the cheapest way to book for our Sept of this year trip!
My mom purchased a trip thru Bookit.com- it is technically paid for- it cost $2100. It includes- 9 nights at the Hilton Downtown DisneyWorld and 2 - 5 day park hoppers, and Discovery Cove for 2.
My mom then purchased plane tickets seperatly.
But she is also 100% Disabled Military Vet. And now we discovered 40% for resort rooms for Military.... and the Free Dining Plan. .....
We are slightly confused as how this all works... Can anyone help?
Should she cancel through Bookit.com and try to get the Military deal? If she does, do we book the tickets for the parks seperatly? Would we qualify for free Dining Plan? Our dates are Sept 8th- Sept 16th. Just the 2 of us. Any info is appreciated!! Thank you.

Also she did a Dreams Unlimited quote for the Poly- they told her $4100. It did not include tickets or the discovery cove!!! And they said that was with the Military Discount. That didn't seem right. :confused3

A few places we would like to stay at- POR- Riverside or French, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Poly...... She didn't like any of the Value resorts or the cabins and she will not stay at SOG.

Just trying to determine if we should switch or keep what we have .....

Sorry- I keep remembering stuff after I post heha...we made dinner reservations for the following places-
Th- we arrive- Bongos DTD for dinner
Fr- Garden Grove dinner
Sat- Garden View Tea room- (lunch dinner combo at 2 pm)
Sun- Biergarten- Lunch, San Angel Dinner
Mon- Nine Dragons- Lunch, Boma Dinner
Tues- Coral Reef - Lunch, Les Chefs - Dinner
Wed- Discovery Cove all day
Thurs- Nothing planned
Fri- we leave at 1 pm- nothing planned.

Not sure about which Dining Plan would be good for us- if we went that route. We also bought Joy of Night tickets for Sat. Thanks Again!

Let me see if I can help. The way the military deal through Disney works is this:
Tickets are $138 per person, this give you 4 days in the parks-you can chose hoppers or water parks and more.

Hotel on property-Its 35% off mods or 40% off Deluxe. You will need to call CRO to see what properties and rooms are available. Lets say for example, you book Port Orleans French Quarter, and you get the room rate around $105 a night after discount-$945 for 9 nights at discounted rate.
(Rack Rate is $159-$169 a night, so about $1431 for nine nights rack rate)

So far, your total price for nine nights hotel discount, and 4 day military tickets is $1221, not including food and Discovery Cove. If you add the dining plan, add $828 (TOTAL $2049). THIS COMES OUT TO BE ABOUT THE SAME AS YOUR BOOKIT PACKAGE BUT IT INCLUDES FOOD.

You would need to price out Discovery Cove separately, and figure that in.

Disney does not let you stack discounts, so you can't do military room discount and free dining plan-you have to choose one versus the other.

If you went with Free Dining: the DDP (regular cost $45.99 per adult per night). If you stay 9 nights on property, that would be a savings of approx. $828 for the two of you following this option.

Getting free dining, you'd pay rack rate on hotel, plus, you'd have to buy tickets through disney to get the package. So, $1439 hotel rack rate, plus however many park tickets you need.

I would try to get the military room and ticket deal-as that would probably be your cheapest option. Be sure to check with bookit to make sure you won't incur any cancellation penalties.

I hope some of this helps and doesn't confuse you further. :) I hope my math is good here..:surfweb:

Good luck with your decisions.

ahhhhhh That explains alot! Wow! Thank you- I learned something new and can't wait to call my mom and tell her what you just told me hehe! Plus if I stay onsite- we get free transportation to and from the airport? From Magical Express or is it not free.... and yes we need to call Bookit to see about canceling fees- Thanks again!

While I was at the BWI last week I book(bounce back offer) change my ressie that I had for Nov/Dec & saved $1500+ thought great the came home & looked on here and saw that people have been getting the military discount extended :banana: so I called back to see if I could see how much more I could save & iof my room was still showing for discount. Yes !! So now I am saving an extra $400 on top of $1500+ great deal. I booked two more trips for next year, one in May & Sept 2012. I am happy that they brought this back :goodvibes

Trying to go back next month since DH has to go to Kenya for over a month but that not set in stone but still might go if not only $1555 for QS & ins no air but I have enough miles I can use now just to talk DH into letting me go :rotfl:

Yes, Magical Express is free from the airport.

I didn't know this thread existed. I called yesterday and got Pop, standard room for 4 nights Dec 19-23 for $299.24, then we move over to SoG for the remaining 3 nights, Dec 23-26.

Remember though, that the military tickets are for 4 days only and it is expensive to add any more days. 4 days is not very much time to see everything. When booking our next trip I struggled with whether to use this promo or another because I would love 5 or 6 park days... However, we LOVE staying on property, magical express, and the dining plan!! Good luck with your planning :).

You can't add more days to the Armed Forces Salute tickets. We will be down for 7 nights, and we are each getting 2 sets of them because we can use the remaining days sometime next year before they expire.

Actually, I think we are going to get 2 4 day with hopper, and 2 4 day with hopper and WPF&M for a grand total of $303, that was the least expensive option and we will have leftovers.

Ok so I've never used the military discount before, except at SoG.
I just called to see if I could get the military room discount applied to my first 3 nights (my dates are 23-30 December 2011). She said that I would have to make 2 seperate reservations and possibly have to switch rooms. Well, I told her I do not want to switch rooms (too much of a hastle).
She did some checking and she was able to get the military room discount for my entire stay!? :confused3 BUT I had 6 day base tickets and the regular dining plan. She was able to keep the dining plan and since I wasn't getting the 4 day military park tics, I'd have to purchase the regular 6 day base tickets seperately...which I don't have the money to do right now.

So tell me if this sounds correct...I have BWV booked with the military room discount from December 23-30th with the dining plan added on. She said I could add on the tickets at a later time. I was also concerned about making ADRs on June 26th and she said I would still be able to.
She was able to save me $1200 if this is right?! :confused3

Well, you could get your 6 day base tickets at SoG and not have to pay tax on them. We decided to buy 2 4 day Military tickets each, it was less than a 6 day ticket and doesn't expire until next Sept.

The CM I talked to yesterday said the discount didn't have blackout dates and I could have gotten it for the rest of our trip, but it was less expensive to move over to SoG for 3 nights.

Wait I only saved about $743. I think I understand. She applied the 40% discount to the 23-25th since the blackout dates start on the 26th, and I didn't have to make 2 reservations like she first said. Uh I'm so confused!

Will I still be able to make ADRs 180 days out, without park tickets yet? :worship: I just checked my reservations on the Disney World site and the changes are on there already...it says Room and Dine package.
Sorry for being so annoying but y'all know these things are important to a Disney addict!

You're not annoying! Is it all straightened out now? Yes, you can make your ADRs. You don't need park tix or even a reservation to do that.

Ok great! I just had a little panic attack there for a minute. :worried: I still won't be completely settled until I get the park tickets on there.

I didn't technically mean to add to the armed forces ticket. I meant to purchase tickets for an additional day or two is expensive.
