Armed Forces Salute Room/Ticket Discount: 2011/12 (Spring Break Update)

I have the same question about the military tickets that was posted earlier. We have reservations for this September. I was going to get the military 4 day ticket but we will only use 2 days. We will be going back in November. Will I still have 2 days left or will they expire on Oct. 1, 2011 like they originally said????

no they are ALL good till 2012 now

Hi! Quick question I'm confused about.. I know being a dependent I can't receive the ticket offer, but is it possible for me to receive the room only discount with my military ID? This will be the first time going without my parents and my dad (who is retired military) told me I should be able to get some discounts but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated!

I don't see why not, having a Military ID and all. If you call, they will be able to tell you. It's going to be dependant on your age as well, you have to be 18 or over to make a reservation, and I thought you were no longer eligible for priviledges when you turned 18.

Does anyone know if DoD is included in the room only discount? My military ID (CAC card) has me as a civilian under the Agency/department of Army. Would they accept that as military ID?

Thanks!

I don't believe so, I think that is just at Shades of Green.

Sorry, but that would only work for SOG reservations. This is from the WDW Special Offers page:

This offer is for active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Does anyone know if you can use the room discount offer to book 2 rooms at 2 different resorts?

I have never done it personally, but I believe you can book more than one room with the discount. If you give the WDTC/CRO a call, then you'll know for sure, but maybe someone else will post about their personal experience before then.

you can def do multi rooms, not sure about different resorts though
they might tell you no for that since it is suppose to be a discount for your party, in our case "grand gathering" since we had 3+ rooms (9 or more people) everytime
the service member/spouse needs to be at check in for every room
they can be on different credit cards so you are good there

I'm really frustrated now. I called again today to ask about the discount not being on the last 2 nights of our stay. This time, the lady said that I was right, it wasn't on the last two nights, they just relased the new booking code, etc. so she went to add it and it took her back to the original total we started with.

She put me on hold, and asked a supervisor about it, and then she tells me they can't modify those last two nights at all and the discount isn't offered at POR for those two days and we're stuck with rack rate...WHAT?! :headache:

It's not like I booked during a time with black out dates, so I'm confused. I thought about cutting our honeymoon 2 days short since I booked it with the thought that we'd be covered for the discount the whole stay, but I'd have an issue changing our flight. So now, I'm tossing around booking the last two nights at Pop Century (if it's available then), and knocking off the two nights from POR.

What's going on? Also, any suggestions? Thanks!

I'd call back and try to talk to a different CM. That is what I do when I have a problem.

I guess it could be that they just don't have any rooms avail under this special for these nights. I don't know if it works the same way as other Disney specials where there are limited rooms for each special.

Yes, that's what I think is happening. If the dates aren't blacked-out, then they are already booked-up with the military code.

Sometimes the WDTC/CRO will put canceled rooms back into the discount-coded inventory when the resort's occupancy rate is lower than they'd like, so there's a chance that the last two nights will be available later if someone cancels. But if you don't want to keep calling to check, your best bet might be to tweak your dates or resort.

We went to the ITT the other day to get tickets. We were quoted 135.50 per ticket. The lady was rather short and her only question to us was When are you going. We told her September and she said she could order them and they would be there in 14 business days. That is fine but the price was not what we were expecting. She never did tell us exactly what tickets they were.

We are booked at the GF 1-4 Dec. Unfortunately, the mil discount isn't available. We really want to splurge and stay at GF (resort on the monorail) vice SOG.

So, I'm looking to save some money. Realistically, we are going to the parks 2days. It looks like the 4-day mil salute park tixs are still the best deals on tix options. Is that correct?

Also, is it worth it to get the DDP added? We are arriving mid-day on 1 Dec and leaving for DCL cruise on 4 Dec. Will I be paying for DDP for 4 days?

BTW, first timers!

I can answer you on the DDP. I'm pretty sure you pay for the DDP for each night of your stay, so technically you'd be paying for 3 nights.
Also, having been on the DCL, you get ALOT of food on there (I guess I should say a lot of food is available to you) so if you want to eat a lot during this trip, then go for the DDP while you're at Walt Disney World, otherwise, save your appetite for the boat. Hope that helps!

I have a curious question that I can't find the answer to. I looked at my 2010 trip, which was at POFQ with a Military room discount and I had purchased DDP. Neither the confirmation nor the invoice printed out anything itemized, like room rate or DDP cost (which I know) or tax. So I can't go back and try to itemize.

So my question is: Is the room rate taxed at 12.5% resort tax rate, and the DDP taxed at 6.5% retail food tax rate? Does anyone know the correct answer to this? TIA :)
