Armed Forces Salute Room/Ticket Discount: 2011/12 (Spring Break Update)

I have a dependent military ID and am planning a solo trip in early Dec 2011 so only need 1 ticket then. If I decide to go back in 2012, can I buy the other 4 tickets then?

My military tickets are only good for Oct 1, 2011. As far as I know it ends until Disney decide to continue it which is rumored they will. I got my 4 tickets now for my June & Sept trips last month. But keep in mind that the current offer end Oct 1, 2011. And you have to use by that date. What Disney told me as well as the exchange Morale office

Do we know when the military salute tix price will start? I plan to go on vacation in mid Oct and when I asked about price quote in regards to the extension, I was told that it has not been listed yet. The code for the close out date of Oct 2011 is still in play. They did not have the new codes as of yet.

And can I book more the 4 days for the military salute tix?

You can book your room for however many days you want, but the tickets are 4 days and you can't add days onto them. HTH!:)

We have an existing reservation for mid October at the Poly using AAA - does anyone know if I could have my dad (retired military) book us a room instead using his military discount & also then he/my mom would stay at the Poly (currently they are at SOG) I guess I'd have to cancel my existing reservation & rebook?

also - if we do the 4 day military salute tix my understanding is then we'd have to also buy an additional separate park ticket for the rest of our days there (we have 6 or maybe 7 days in the park)

My daughter has a military id through her father (my x-husband) we WERE able to use it to get park tickets for my family a couple years ago. I contacted SOG and they said yes I could do anything with her military id that anyone else could do with one. I didn't have any problems.

Now here is my question. My daughters ID expires the end of this August and we are planning a trip in Novemeber. My X should give me another one when the current ID expires as he is supposed to but I never know for sure with him. Now my question is if I book the room offer with the 40 percent off and by some odd chance for whatever reason he doesn't give me a new ID for my daughter do you think anyone would give me a hard time at check in? I would still have the old one but it expires the end of August. I am just trying to look at the worst case scenario. Of course I am hoping to have it.

Thanks so much for your feedback!

Technically if the ID is expired then they could deny you as not eligible but I just wanted to add that if your ex is providing her health insurance through the military she needs a new card ASAP because that is her insurance card.

Yes, your dad can book a room for himself as well as one for you. My DH is active duty and he booked our room as well as a room for my parents. It's either 2 or 3 rooms that you are allowed to book with the military discount. And, yes you are correct, if you want 6 or 7 park days then you would need to purchase additional tickets, you can't add on to the military passes. If I'm not mistaken, it would be less expensive to not get the military passes and instead just get a 6 or 7 day pass.

I did this based on buying the regular disney tickets at SOG, since they are a tad less and you don't pay tax (which really adds up!)

Military pass $138 + 2 day pass (non-hopper) $168 = $306
6 day non-hopper = $237
Military pass $138 + 2 day pass (hopper)$222 = $360
6 day hopper = $291

Military pass $138 +3 day pass (non-hopper)$220 = $358
7 day non-hopper = $242
Military pass $138 +3 day pass (hopper)$274 = $412
7 day hopper = $296

I made the costly mistake of buying the military tickets and then finding we needed extra days. 4 days it just not enough for a lot of trips. I wish they did have an option to add days. The YES program is a better way to save on longer trips, if traveling during the time when they have the individual enrollment program.

I agree - the 4 day $138 is great but 4 days isn't enough at Disney :) would be nice if you could add on.

and thanks my2princessgirls for doing the math for me - as I suspected it makes more sense to just buy the 6 day pass

My husband and I went to Disney two years ago and were able to take advantage of the 40% off of our hotel. However, my husband won't be able to accompany us this year - will I still be able to book the room using the military discount? I know that I am able to buy the discounted tickets, but I'm not clear on whether I can use the 40% off discount without my husband being on the trip. Thanks!!

As long as you have a Dependent ID Card, you can book the 40% off military room-only rate. I did this in August while DH was in Afghanistan and it was no problem at all. In fact, I stayed at three WDW resorts and was never asked once for my ID card, but you should definitely have it with you, just in case they do decide to ask for it.

Does anyone know when we can book dates past September 2011? I'd really like to go in October, using the Military salute deal. I keep checking the Disney site, but it just says dates coming soon.

Yep, it still says:

Check back soon for details on the 2012 special offer
for members of the military and their families.

They should post an update soon. I'll post the blackout dates here when they're released for dates beyond September 2011.

I have a question, my fiancé and I are planning to take our honeymoon September 28th-Oct 4th. I know the room discount ends before that, but will they apply it to the whole stay or will we have to pay the full rate for some of the days?

Can someone please clarify something for me on the military ticket discount? Perhaps from experience?

I read through all the info on buying the military tickets but it's fairly vague. It mentions being active, retired, or a reservist. But it doesn't say what your status as a reservist has to be. I called the Disney military # three time for clarification and got 3 different answers, including an "I don't know" and "yeah I think there's something different for reservists". That person transferred me to the SOG ticket office, which had a recording--left a message and nobody called back.

Anyway, my brother was in the reserves as a medic for 4 years before he was injured and honorably discharged. He was not 100% disabled (which was one of the things the CM mentioned as giving you eligibility for tickets). He has a retired ID and his discharge papers. Would he be eligible to buy discounted tickets through the program? Does anyone have a clue? I hate when you call Disney and can't get a straight answer.

My brother is currently in the military (I'm a vet, another brother a vet, my father a vet, but we did not retire military). From what I understand reading the promotion, he can purchase up to 6 of these tickets. If he should be deployed (his ship is currently on the list for a possible deployment) can other family members still use the tickets he purchases without him being present?

I have wondered if DH is eligible for these discounts. He was medically discharged from the Arny National Guard at 24 because he was diagnosed with a very deadly form of leukemia. He has a DD214 and we qualified for a VA loan on our home. He does not have a current ID of course. Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

From what I been told by our morale office when you use the tickets at Disney at Guest Services you have to show an ID whether it is the sponsor or family member. If your brother is gone and he brought tickets for others not in the military & he isn't with them they can't use them unless they have an military ID. Someone in the party has to have a military ID. This is how it was when we went the last time. And Disney was very strict about it. MHO

The active duty or retired member will have to show an Id when activating the tickets at disney. I forgot mine in the hotel safe one trip and had to go back and get it.
