Armed Forces Salute Room/Ticket Discount: 2011/12 (Spring Break Update)

From my understanding, if you get the tickets with park hoppers and waterparks and more, you have 4 days of tickets to the parks plus 4 passes to waterparks and "more". So, you could be there 6 days, visit the 4 parks on days 1-4, then on days 5 and 6, you could visit the water parks or "more".

*If you visited TL and BB in the same day-you would have to use 2 of your 4 passes. (1 for each water park).

thats NOT how it worked in 2010
adding the water park plus you are simply buying the extra stuff (ie water park, quest, and whatnot)
it is NOT extending the amount of days you get

here is an example...
you have 4 day pass and can visit each park (MK/Epcot/DHS/AK) - 1 each day
you have hopper and can visit each park as many times as you want each day
you have water and more and you can visit 1 water park each day in addition to 1 park each day
you have water park and hopper and you can visit anything you want whenever you want

OK, now I'm confused. (we did the military deal back in 09)

If I book a trip, staying 6 nights, can I do this:
Day 1 MK, Day 2 EP, Day 3 HS, Day 4 AK, Day 5 BB Day 6 TL?

Or are you saying that on the day that I visit each of the major parks, I "could" visit the waterparks that same day? Thus, only being able to visit parks on only 4 days total?

I thought I had this figured out...so I can't take a day off from the major parks to do just a waterpark?

We just used these tickets in March and yes, you can do your example. We had the water parks and more plus park hoppers and we spent 4 days park hopping the 4 major parks (MK, E, DHS, and AK) and spent 2 different days at the 2 waterparks for a total of 6 days. You do not have to use waterpark visits on same days as major park days.

That's what I thought it was too!

seems like they changed it up, which is great and good to know for the next time we go
i would still ask when you activate the tickets though because when we were there they specifically said it was good for 4 days and if you entered ANY park it would take a day off whats remaining

edit come to think about it, they also said you have 14 days to use the tickets - which i know isn't the case for military tix
so i am betting i got "general" info and not 100% correct info on the waterpark option
oh well, learned something for next time

Still no dates/ rates for the 2012 extension. I have been calling daily.:hourglass Going in Nov, and am anxiously awaiting these discounts!

Well i'm in on the watch too..... we WERE going in September, but now my DHs boat has other plans so we're going in November (which is GREAT btw) BUT they haven't come out with the code yet!!!!

SO would you book the stay at the regular rate and then add the code later or wait till the code comes out???

They are still coordinating with the military or more likely, working on the blackout dates. Hopefully you can soon book your vacation:)

Since you only have to cancel a room-only booking up to 5 days prior to arrival to not incur a penalty, and there aren't any penalties for changing your dates or applying a code, I would go ahead and book at the rack rate and apply the military rate code when it comes out. However, the deposit will be more since you have to pay the equivalent of the first night's room rate which would be at the rack rate.

Happy planning!

Question about the 40% off room rates- When I called in, the rates I was quoted from the cast member did not look like 40% of the rates I was looking at online. I figured that somehow I'm seeing other discounts when I plug in our dates online...and that the cast member is starting with different rates. Can anyone clarify? I mean, I was looking at $149 at a moderate....but when I called in, she quoted $120-130, which isn't 40% off.

Please forgive my room rate ignorance!

(We're trying to price out a trip with the 40% room rate, and then either separate tix and possible dining plan or just the military tix. Or just sticking with SoG!)

Is the room discount also being given Oct 2011- Sept 2012? or just the tickets??

I know the tickets for FY 2012 start Oct 1 but what about the room discount, any idea when that might start??? Any help would be awesome!!!

40% is off of deluxe. I think mods are 30 or 35%. Also, not all room types/views are always available (for example in 2009 we were only able to get the military discount on a theme park view room at the Poly, and not a garden view), so the CM may have been giving you the moderate % off of a higher priced room type/view and the numbers were correct. Did they tell you what the exact room type was?

As far as I know it's only U.S. armed forces. Here is the link from the Disney site:

http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....romotionCode=fy11military&market=fy11military

And this is what it says at the top of each section:
$138 4-Day Park Hopper Tickets for Members of the U.S. Military

Save up to 40% at select Disney Resorts for Members of the U.S. Military

Today I contacted the Sales Director at Disney’s Military Sales Department to see if there were any official updates.

I posted full details on my site but here is a quick brief:

The two offers (Oct 10-1 Oct 11 and the extension through 30 Sept 2012) are separate offers and military members are eligible for 6 tickets per offer.

Tickets being sold now have expiration dates of 30 Sept 2012, but that doesn’t exclude the member from purchasing again for the use in the following year.

WDW blockout dates: July 4, 2011, December 26 – 31, 2011, April 1 – 12, 2012 and July 4, 2012 at Magic Kingdom Park. DL and resort blockout dates coming soon.

Sounds like the transition will be seamless. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Steve for posting the details and the link.

Since WDW still hasn't updated the information on their "special offers" page, would you say this information is unofficial or official, with limited release? Can dates after September '11 now be booked? I will assume they can't be booked since you're awaiting more info. on DL and WDW Resorts. The blackout dates are precisely what I anticipated, so that seems official to me, but they will have to release a new booking code and blackout dates for booking rooms, correct?

It's wonderful that those eligible for the tix and room discount can now start planning with much more certainty. Thank you again for your great blog and information and happy planning everyone!

Thanks for the Compliment WDWKOOK.

You know it's kind of frustrating that they are so slow to update their websites, the special offers and the disney military sales sites. When this current offer came out (last Oct) it took them about a month to update. And I seem to recall the time prior too.

I'm checking on if the booking codes and will advise.

I really wanted to get the info out, I know quite a lot of people missed out during the offer transition last year.

The gentleman I deal with at the company also released info to me when we had the big controversy last year with the ticket offer, to let me know it was coming. I'd say this is solid info, I talk with the Dept. that negotiates these deals. It just seems to take a rather long time for the info to filter to the CRO and ticketing folks.

Thanks again!

Excellent news, glad to know if we use the deal this year it doesn't change our eligibility for next year.

So true! They need more obsessive/compulsive planners working on their website:laughing:. WDTC/CRO always seem the last to know and DISers, thanks to folks like you, the first to know. I guess our obsession gives us the advantage, but it can also make us frustrated:headache:. Thanks for feeding our obsession (and I mean that in the the best possible way).
