Arkansas woman gives birth to 15th child

That is a baseball team (9)
Basketball team (5)
and a golfer (1)

I think its great - they say they both love children. Having grown up in a family of 9 kids, I know how blessed I am to have had parents who also loved kids and thrived in a "more the merrier" type of household. :) Yes, you do have to sacrifice a little bit when you are one of many, but the rewards far outweight the downfalls. :)

 She even said she wants more children.

Whew, my FIL is one of 13. His youngest sister is only 3 years older than we are.

With 15 don't cha know she is one tired mama at the end of the day!

well - at least they aren't begging the community for help!

good for them!

Her DH's name is Jim Bob............oooooooooooooooooook.

I think I'll stop at 3!!

Well, Jumping Jiminy!!!

15 kids and wanting more!!

They need a new hobby

:crowded: :jumping1:

and you guys thought 5 in a room at WDW was tough ;)

Having lived in Springdale, AR until I moved last May I have seen several articles about this family but don't know them personnally.

Recently Michelle was honored as Mother of the Year in Arkansas. Attached is a link to a story on them that puts more prespective into their daily live.

I personally would never want that many kids. I have one and that is enough many times.

They need to find a new hobby/something else to do
Why should they, if they are happy and good parents.

We have several large families at our church, and I had kind of always wondered about it. But while I was in the nursery one day, I heard 2 of these moms talking and got a different viewpoint. One of them has 8 children, the other has 5.

They were talking about their routine Wal Mart visits and how several of the cashiers know them by name. One of the ladies said "I always try to go to xxx's line because the last time I went to yyy's line, she said to the other clerk, haven't these people ever heard of birth control? The mom then turned to that clerk (yyy) and said, Do you realize that my children are hearing everything you say and that it hurts them to be talked about that way?"

Bottom line is that it is this family's right and personal choice how many children they have. They love each and every one of them and take very good care of them! Their older children are in great demand as babysitters since they're not intimidated by lots of kids. I took this little lesson as my reminder of this!

I was home (Belleville IL) for Mothers' Day and the local paper had a story about a local woman who had 18 (all grown now). What was buried in the article is that her DH had died before #18 was born...so she had been left a single mom with how ever many of the 18 were still at home at the time!!!

I wish someone would do a study of women who have had a whole lot of pregnancies and whether their occurence of breast cancer is less than the average population. One of the theories of why the breast cancer rate is so high is that women have fewer babies and nurse for a shorter amount of time, so we have more periods than we were ever "meant" to have and that that somehow contributes to breast cancer.

My sil's mom comes from a family of 18 kids. Only 1 set of twins in there. They are all very close. Family gatherings are enormous as most of the kids had more then the standard 2 kids each.

There was a family in my old church with 14 kids. We all thought that was too amny but really it was their business. They home school the whole lot.

We are from a small area and there are several families with lots of kids. There is one family close by that has either 24 or 25 kids now--they are the extreme, but there are lots and lots of large families here.

I cannot imagine having that many kids...raising one is an absolute joy, but there are times when one is enough!
