We have several large families at our church, and I had kind of always wondered about it. But while I was in the nursery one day, I heard 2 of these moms talking and got a different viewpoint. One of them has 8 children, the other has 5.
They were talking about their routine Wal Mart visits and how several of the cashiers know them by name. One of the ladies said "I always try to go to xxx's line because the last time I went to yyy's line, she said to the other clerk, haven't these people ever heard of birth control? The mom then turned to that clerk (yyy) and said, Do you realize that my children are hearing everything you say and that it hurts them to be talked about that way?"
Bottom line is that it is this family's right and personal choice how many children they have. They love each and every one of them and take very good care of them! Their older children are in great demand as babysitters since they're not intimidated by lots of kids. I took this little lesson as my reminder of this!
