Are you taller then your parents?

I was looking at some kids at school yesterday and thinking how tall these kids are compared to their parents and got to thinking are your taller then your parents, women are you taller then your mom, men are you taller then your dad? Just curious. I am taller by 5" then my mom but shorter then my dad. Neither of my sisters are taller then my mom.

No, I am actually shorter than both. My mom is 5'2", my dad was 5'11", and I am 5'1". I am, however, the shortest of my siblings and I am the oldest. My sister is 5'5", my brothers are 6', 5'11" and 6'1". I truly got the "short" end of the stick!

I'm 5'11". My father has sisters who are 6' and above, so we figure there are tall females on that side and I must take after them.

I'm shorter than both of my parents by quite a bit, but my grandmother and aunt were both short as well as a cousin I am taller than. I'm 5-1.

I am 5'3 1/2". My mom and my sister are both 5'7" and dad is about 5'10", I think.

I married a guy who's 5'8", so who knows how tall our kids will be.

Not taller than my parents, I am 5'3". My dd's are shorter than me. I though my 15yo was going to be taller than me but she has stopped at 5'1". Younger dd will be lucky to reach 5'.

I'm taller than my mother, and have been since reaching adulthood. I was not taller than my father until the last years of his life, when spinal stenosis and disc degeneration caused him to lose height.

I'm taller than DD, but if the growth charts are accurate, DS will be taller than both DH & I.

All of my brothers are taller than DM; all but one are taller than DF was.

All of my SILs are taller than their mother was but shorter than their father; DH is taller than his mother was, but shorter than his father was.

I did a predictor on how old my kids would be:

DH is 5'11"

DD8 predicts will be 5' 7 1/2"
DS5 predicts will be 6'0 I know it's only and inch taller than DH, but he's 5 so it's hard to imagine hime taller than his dad.

My dh's very unscientific theory is that sons will always be at least one inch taller than their fathers. I try to tell him that's a bunch of bologna but he doesn't want to hear it.

I think it's just wishful thinking on his part, I'm short (5'3'') and his mother is shorter than me, so we've got short genes on both sides of the family. We really hope the boys don't take after the short people!

My mother was 5'10" at her tallest, she's starting to shrink. Biological father was 5'11"

I am lucky to be claiming being 5'4" (though I'm not sure if I am that tall, I tend to measure myself in shoes ) because I was routinely the shortest kid in my class for years....and then to have jolly green giant for a mother didn't help.

My mother is quick to point out though that both my grandmothers were short, one was 5'3" and the other 4'11" Both my grandfathers were over 6'

I'm shorter than both. My mom was about 5'5" and my dad is close to 6'... I am just over 5' myself.

I just did that height predictor and it said I would be 5'5.5" tall... that amused me since I must be in that 5% that wasn't even w/in four inches of my rea height

DH is 6'1" DS is really tall for his age so I hope he gets close to 6'

ETA - I did 2 seperate height predictors on the About site and both came with 5'10" Oh well I'm still hoping for taller.
