I'm a little confused. I'm brand new to VMK....Why are people asking to be my girlfriend or if I am taken??? Does having a girlfriend/boyfriend in VMK mean something?

No say no taken is bad and is wrong it makes you a no better vmk player just say no and ignore them

Unfortunately, it comes with the territory. Girls seem to be obsessed with having a "boyfriend", even in a virtual world. They ask if you're taken just because they think you're cute, but they don't really care about the real you, just your avatar. For all they know, you could be 3"1', 750 pounds and gothic or something when your avatar is cute and good-looking. Just put in your signature, "Don't do taken" or some such. That will stop 99% of requests.

Hey now, let's be fair. I think there are just as many guys obsessed with this silly game as there are girls. I know as a girl I've been asked by guys about this more than I can count.

Heh, points taken. I just know that as a girl, I have never been asked (maybe it's because my character wears glasses?) but when I play my boy character he gets asked ALL THE TIME. (My fault for making him so cute, lol.)

And about the gothic thing, I was really talking about appearances... to me, the gothic look is anything but appealing. I do realize that some people like it. But... for the purpose of this illustration I was just imagining a knee-high 750-pound Jabba the Hutt-type 90-year-old man wearing goth clothes being asked to be taken by a young girl because he has a cute avatar.

a girl tried to pay me to be taken with her the other day...
and even though I have "the dc monster and taken will on day take over vmk!" the requests come pouring in.
it sounds kind of creepy though, because a girl could be taken with a middle aged fat guy...creepy.

My character wears glasses and has been asked to be taken by guys about... maybe three times since I joined in April. I've been asked to be taken by girls about four or five times since I got the Sparrow suit a month or two ago. Even after I quit wearing the hat and had the regular long girl hair.

The thing that kids playing the game don't realize is that adults are playing
the game, too. If someone is asking you if you're "taken", it's a kid.
I remember as a kid that we all wanted boyfriends and such.

As an independent adult woman...I'm not defined by that anymore.
(Although I reserve the right to tell the dudes (I know who are not kids)
that they look "lava" in their outfits. LOL)

Whenever someone has asked me if I was taken, I just simply respond,
"I'm sorry, I don't do taken." That has always satisfied the people asking.

Just to see how the "other half" lives, I created a boy mule. I've only had him for about a week now and I think I add about 3-4 girls on my friends list every day. When ask if I'm taken I usually respond "what's that?" and they say 'nvm' and walk away. works for me!

..and when I found one of my DIS/VMK friends with my mule she said, and I quote, "you make a cute boy!"

p.s. don't create a boy character and hang out at the Sci Fi drive in. I've had a line for girls to talk to me, I've had girls fight over me, it's crazy. My sympathies for all the guys here who have to put up with that.

haha!!!!!!! that oddly used to be my hangout when i wanted to enter codes or sort through my inventory, or some such silly thing................ not anymore because that is the worst place to be for taken.

i believe everyone decides for themselves whether they want to do taken or not. if you decide to be against taken, then it often helps to chage your skin to a color other than a normal skin tone....................

This is really weird, but yesterday I was asked if I was taken by a girl....and my character is obviously a girl. When I didn't answer, she then asked if I wanted to dance.

I thought taken wasn't allowed since dating and that type of behavior is frowned at. Not to mention, it's rather silly. I see people all the time saying "You're cute". We're ALL cute. We're pixels. Disney-made pixels nonetheless. You know Disney wouldn't settle for anything less than cute so how can you not be? Maybe some kids don't get hugged by their mom enough. *goes to hug daughter*

I let my five year old play and then come to find her talking to a boy! He was asking her are you taken, will you be my girl, and the sort. I quickly added to her sig no taken bay be or trades sorry. She didn't quite get it, but I was horrified. Needless to say Jennac and princessjennac are never too far apart in our little VMK world. (the names are so close since I gave her my born in park character and I couldn't think of a name to save my life)

Does anybody else find this taken stuff funny? I do...Well, mostly because I think of the sterio-typical anime-otaku (think, badly obessed) fat fanboys going around askign all of these girls "are you taken" (for goodness sake-I hope they say no!)

I am proud to say I was never taken. Well...not on VMK. Once on CokeMusic wayyyy back...but then the boy was like "lets have kids" and after that...I never showed my face again
